AF breathing compensation is available for the FX3 in the latest firmware. I have both cameras. The FX3 is definitely for high quality videos while the a7R V is for high-quality photos.
Hey as of right now around $5k what is the best hybrid camera slightly more tailored to film. Is there any like the fx3 with the AI auto focus?
A7S3 also got breathing comp with firmware 3.0
@@Videotylryea the A7RV lol… it’s literally the better hybrid cam despite its 4K pixel binning the image is cleaner and better than the A7SIII up to about 12,800 ISO beyond that the A7SIII is marginally better in low light
by reading brochure i would say the fx3 and 7rv are comparable or same perfomance while the 7rv has de photo capability

I use it for talking head but rolling shutter is rough compared to a7sii/fx3 for video

Fun comparison! The Rv has nothing for me. I feel like it’ll be a long time before something coaxes me away from an A7SIII + FX3 combo (with an A7iv has a c-cam / hybrid option). Absolutely love these cameras.

Ya the ar7v has more megapixels and 8k video so it’s sharper
1080p, 4k, 8k tells you what resolution you are using. When you have more MPXs than needed, the camera needs to make extra magic to throw away those extra pixels efficiently, or use smaller area of the sensor (aka crop) etc...
Bottom line is that there are no benefit of higher pixel count than needed for 4K. unless you want to shoot 8k 24fps... which could be beneficial only if you are planing to export to 4k, and use 8k source footage for reframing and zooming in post.

Is the a7rv suitable for hobby photography?
Enjoyed the vid. Probably would have been a bit better if you did a squarespace ad read right before some cinematic b-rolls of each camera body with RGB lighting.
With that said, I use Fx3 and don't plan on owning an a7RV. My only gripe with FX3 and Sony in general is the image quality of the screen itself. I get so jealous when filming weddings and the photog who shoots canon shows me the photo they took on the Canon screen and it looks amazing. I like the no EVF design of the FX3, next iteration they need to upgrade that screen to something amazing and somehow throw in an internal ND. Give an option to use internal ND and option to disable IBIS (if need be) or something.
Mr anthony i just bought the sony a7cr and the fx 3 i have a zvel and a74 i didnt open the fx 3 or a7cr yet u think i should keep them or take the fx back for the a7r5

The A7RV has a lot of great looking features, but I’ve yet to find one single case where my FX3 has not been enough. It’s never let me down and that’s plenty for my needs.
Dude, you made those cameras look almost gimbal like. I have the a7siii, so same IBIS as the FX3 and my footage is far more shaky than that. Well done!

Hows the low light capability for the A7RV?
Rolling shutter on the rv is a deal breaker. Ruins motion cadence especially when shooting on a shoulder rig with ibis turned off for a livelier image. No or extremely low rs is a must for natural and good looking camera shake.
Consider when you see footage from old movie or film cameras, for example from the dogma movement. A lot of it hand held with no stabe but still looks fantastic. That’s because there is no rolling shutter. Rolling shutter makes camera shake look awful.
I couldn't agree more. So glad to see that I'm not the only one thinking this. With the run and gun nature of FX3 users, I don't see how any them can consider the A7RV with all that jello effect. I would love someday add the A7RV to my bag as it's an amazing piece of tech, but not to replace the FX3 (or A7S3) for video purposes.
Hi, I'm switching from Canon to Sony, I was on an R6 and R in Bcam... I just ordered the FX3... I'm wondering in Bcam if I should go with a74 to also have a good stills camera body or the ZVE1... my question is: Will the a74 be the same dynamic range and image quality as Bcam for the fx3... I know that the zve1 would give an identical image...

Thanks for a good comparison. Surprised you went with the FX3. To me, if all else were equal, having the evf is super important.

First video I've ever seen of your channel. I liked the format and professionalism of the video as well as you weren't afraid to state your personal opinion. I'm like 95% sure I'm going with the a7r5 for my new main body camera. But there's also 5% that's telling me to wait for the announcement of the r5mkii.

Have the FX3 -Couldn't see any difference in the Ibis, have considered the A7RV mainly because of the viewfinder which I miss, otherwise I agree with all your comments FX3 is great! Good comparison will reconsider my needs
Nice video, thank you. I wish you would do something as simple as put put text on the screen to say which camera footage we're looking at each time you make the comparisons. Even though you say overall which one it is, it I had to go back a few times to make sure I knew what footage I was looking at. You added the text in the focus test segment, since you weren't talking. But It'd be helpful if you added it to all the comparisons.
There's a 1.2x crop in 8K video, all frame rates. Same as the 4K 60. Thanks for a great video though!
Hi, I have the Sony Zv-E1. I cant decide between the A7cii and the A7cr as my 2nd camera. I mainly shoot video but I want my 2nd camera to be able to shoot stills and still be great for video. Which one shall I go for? Btway love your videos man. ( A7cr has pixel binned 4k that is swaying me away from it)

That screen on the A7RV is a game changer. I wish the FX3/FX30 had a tilt screen as I have no desire to record myself. If the A7C2 or A7V have those screens then I'll be upgrading.

I think some of the Sony email lenses offer focus breathing compensation like the 11 mm 1.8 I have for my FX30. But to be fair I haven't tested it yet lol. But I figured I would at least ask if that's something that can be dealt with in the lens

Also. Do you know how well does the r7V works on low light wedding venues or churches or temples etc. If the FX3 didn't have 4k 120. Would you still go for the fx3?

I recently did a shoot in the desert using the A7rV slog 3 2400 iso in low light. The video was phenomenal. No noise whatsoever.

I have a Canon 5d mrk4 ... I want to switch for low light video and stills.... but I still don't know which to get A7iv or Fx3 because I want to do both....
Fx3 will lack on stills mps are super low also I have the a 7R5 and do real estate videos with it. It looks great honestly I still have a lot to learn though.

Hey, a7r5 will definitely be better over the a74 I have a 7 r5 for real estate video and photography 16 to 35 mm GM 2 lens works amazing especially photos

On the FX3 in 4k, when I mount Aps-c lens, what happens to the image? You mentioned it in 4K you cannot do a PSC mode.
They simply won’t work. You can only use APSC mode in 1080p. But, the 1080 is oversampled from 4k which is best in that regard on any new camera.
The A7R5 seems to have truer blacks. Is this the case?

Excellent comparison video. I am running with the FX30 at the moment. Great camera. I would love the FX3 for sure, especially with its second ISO of 12800. Sony is announcing the new ZV-E1 on the 29th. While it's being advertised as a "vlogging" camera, the current "rumored" specs are pretty impressive. I'm waiting for the real specs to drop. So, who knows. But, I am pretty sure I will keep the FX30 no matter what comes next. Honestly, I am looking at the Panasonic S5ii as well. Like Canon, Panasonic has great skin tones straight out of camera. Crazy times right now. A lot of great cameras out there.
What is limiting you on the FX30 that would cause you to invest in a completely new mount like L mount?
Im guessing there will be a FX1 in the future.

Z8 gives you the best of Photo along with 10Bit ProRes and 8k Video. Z8 is better

If you’re getting a Cinema camera Just use manual focus.
A7R V you have to Select SQ mode for 120 fps 10 bit 120 fps 24p 5 x slow motion looks nice

Nice review man 💪 I don't really need the 120fps in 4k. The versatility that the A7RV has in unmatchable I think, the 60MP combined with the APS-C mode is wild. Definitely going to buy that 🔝

Great overview. Sony keeps on killing it with features (just wait till today some of it is just mind blowing). I think the FX3 has been there best design so far. I just love that little thing! Stabilization is amazing on the A7RV and its about to get better today.

I have the same color skin as you, I had to leave Sony. Look at the color under your eyes when in the studio it looks crrraaazy! It did the same with me and my skin tone I couldn’t take it anymore. Canon guy now
For still photography, get a Sony A7RIIIA, Sony A7RIVA or a Sony A7RV !
I own an a7iv and I’m just hesitating on buying an FX3 as well because it’s 2 years old now & I want the new tech! Any thoughts on an FX3 ii coming soon?
Probably not until next year at the earliest, but not really sure. I don’t consider the A7IV to be a video camera. I think it’s more photo-based so if you’re looking for a video centric camera, the FX3 is incredible and will dominate anything your A7IV will produce. I sold my A7IV for an FX3 and I have no regrets. I would only hold off if you’re looking for an 8K camera. Otherwise I think you can sleep comfortably knowing that the FX3 will do everything you needed to plus it can still take photos.
been using a7siii for a while and have 2 A7IV for CAM B AND C. Video quality and colors are pretty much identical, so I would honestly wait on a newer camera since fx3/a7siii is old tech. a7iv would replace my a7siii if it didnt have crop 4k60 lol.
I watched your video because it is for these two cameras that I have a plan in choosing a purchase for video. And you know what. After watching this video, was disappointed with both camera's video quality. My Samsung cell phone does it better. And my old Sony camcorder does better. Seriously. You can watch for comparison on my channel this video about the construction of the terrace, where I used my Samsung 20 mobile phone for video shooting in hand and a tripod on my old Sony HDR-CX560V video camera for fixed view video shooting.
Plus, this video was sped up by 10-20 times and left sharp and full of colors. At the usual normal speed, the image is generally much better and more flawless.
Here is my opinion. Of course, I will still watch other videos about these cameras to compare a dozen different types of shooting from different people, in different conditions.

Every review video highlights the same things Flip-screens Stabilisation AI Autofocus ,Nothing about image quality,Colours,Dynamic Range,I’m sick of watching people running around proving the Autofocus works on 1 Face .What if you’re not a UA-camr.
I love the upgrades the A7R5 brings. But, I am with you, the FX3's body has the better aesthetics.
The FX3 is also easier to rigg-up with a Tilta lightweight kit.
