      I'll also add that my s5iix almost screwed me at a wedding, I almost missed the cake cutting and first dance photo ops... The camera started to freeze with a black screen and wouldn't turn off unless I ripped the battery out, on the sd card it hard created a new folder everytime it did it, I had about 7 folders. I realised it was happening while Osee Lilmon 5 was connected.
      More recently it stopped showing playback on the Osee monitor when trying to watch back footage, then it would gonly show my settings (so f/ etc.) while half pressing the button. Resetting the camera setting seems to have fixed the issues for now, but thought I'd through it out there for transparency sake.
      All that being said, I absolutely LOVE this camera and the quality it produces. I was looking at the face until I watch a s5iix video just to laugh the comment sections, but then I actually listened to the video.... A week later I had a the s5iix at the in my hands

    Welcome to LUMIX buddy ✌🏾
    Sony main problem is the firmware updates, all they don’t come at all or they come so late and they are not tested enough, and you found your self have to fix your camera and pay for it, for something they have done.
    While with lumix this will not happened, because creators get it before hand in their loaned cameras to test it before hand, so yeah.
    You made a good choose buddy, and all Sony lenses from sigma are the same for LUMIX, so you will not have any problem founding the lenses you used in Sony with LUMIX.

      The internal cooling is something NOBODY mentions, yet everyone has a video on all other systems overheating. I own a Z8 and S5iix. I'm a huge Nikon fan. The S5iix absolutely blows me away every single time I use it and in Texas, the cooling fan is a feature that simply destroys all other hybrid cams out there. I did like the Lumix a lot, but since I needed 2 cameras that were easy to match I went with FX6 and FX3 (I also need the autofocus). I switched to the S5ii from the Sony FX30. Yes, the FX30 is a great camera. But, I switched to Sony for their autofocus. As a low budget filmmaker, having AF is great in a pinch when I need to grab a shot without a long setup. All along, I always preferred the skin tones and colors of LUMIX. Having started with the GH5 and filming a feature film with the GH5, I knew LUMIX is a great system.
    The timing of my switching to the S5ii was influenced by the firmware glitch Sony dropped on the FX30. And, thankfully, the S5ii had dropped in price dramatically making the switch even better. Now with my S5ii, I'm enjoying the more accurate colors and skin tones of the S5ii. From my experience of Sony, I find their skin tones tend to have a yellow cast. Unless I shoot in Cine4, which has decent skin tones, but without the dynamic range of Log.
    As far as lenses go, I have yet to see an expensive lens justify its cost. The fact that some lenses cost more than the cameras they're made for is a deciding factor as well. And out of the hundreds of videos I've seen of footage from expensive lenses, I don't see anything that your average audience viewer would even notice. In the end, my content is intended for an audience. And most audiences wouldn't know what to look for as far as rolling shutter, corner sharpness or chromatic aberration is concerned.
    Lighting! You made a great point about lighting. People whine about having dynamic range in dark scenes. Ignoring that if you properly light your scenes, you won't have to worry about or be held up by dynamic range. Great video.

    • @truthseeker6804
      @truthseeker6804 25 днів тому

      @@johncarlan its counter productive because if you have to use an ND filter to get to 12800 iso, an another camera doesnt use an ND filter and stays at 3200 or 6400 iso, the results would basically be the same. so its useless. a more logical second base iso should be 3200 or max 6400 so you wouldnt need an ND filter in low light.

    • @johncarlan
      @johncarlan 25 днів тому +3

      @truthseeker6804 You're missing the point. You don't use an ND to try to get to 12800, the point is that once you break the base ISO, instead of using a noisey 6400 iso, you skip to the clean base ISO of 12800, and then cut light from there. It's not counterproductive at all. Sounds like you are misunderstanding the use of ND filters in this instance. Many times, even a base 6400 iso is nowhere near enough.

    Man nice video but As a Lumix S5IIX owner, I feel you’ve focused more on external features than video capabilities. For example, the Sony FX3 can record 4K full-frame at 120fps, while the Lumix maxes out at 30fps. For someone like me, aiming for cinematic shots, at least 60fps in full-frame would be ideal for low-light.
    That said, I love my Lumix and its prime lenses are excellent. A standout advantage over the FX3 is its hybrid nature; it’s a fantastic photography , all in a compact package

      Personally I think Lumix is a good brand to get into. Sony and Canon are expensive and Lumix is very capable of giving you the same results. Theres not a whole lot of reasons Sony or Canon would be considred better. My friend who shoots canon switched to Lumix and I was shooting Sony and switched back to Lumix.

    • @arghaatta4837
      @arghaatta4837 20 днів тому

      @DamianLastFilms But what about auto focus, my shooting style heavily relies on auto focus. Is Lumix's Auto focus trustworthy?
      And about Canon, RF Mount is not open and RF lenses are really expensive.
      Keeping in mind those problems, I was leaning towards Sony.
      What's your opinion on this?

    sony having dual iso 12800 is sum to flex for sure, but can’t lie if lumix had comparable autofocus then sony would be brushed off so fast

    • @DamianLastFilms
      @DamianLastFilms  17 днів тому

      Its a flex but unnecessary for most scenarios I'm in. Id rather have super clean ISO at 4000 than 12'500. Its an added feature I never found I needed to have and like some other people have mentioned the footage at 12'500 looks soft. Lumix autofocus is good enough I'm not finding a massive difference between Sony and Lumix to be honest. Lumix works on a wedding day so i cant complain

    Sony is finally pushing firmware updates for it nowadays as well.

    i had the same exact problem with my Sony A7S III while filming the first look of a wedding and the camera screen turned red for a milisecond then turned off, unsaving the clip. • @loudmotion5639

    Sad that you got this issue but from what i learned it was bad firmware installation... never had this and i think fw v3 fixed it for those with this problem. Been using fx3 for 2 years and am more into the documentary sector and shot over 300 interviews with zero issues..even shot an event where the camera was soaked and it kept on working 😅 I also come from the s5 and i moved away because the lack of support that is non existant...that camera was dead to lumix after only 1 year it was released...no more firmware updates, nothing...the resale price suddenly went from 1.7k usd to 800usd lol. Also try to live outside of europe, usa and japan...lumix support is just non existant and these lumix f1.8 primes are just the worst lens i ever used optically... stop recommending them 😅 the only sector lumix is really good right now is the wedding industry, great colors with beautiful white, slow action paste 😉 hdmi lag kills it for narrative and af is not enough for sport.

    • @DamianLastFilms

      @@loudmotion5639 The issue with the FX3 is not a bad installation problem and was happening to people beyond V3. When it comes to Lumix I also use it for real estate and have used it for some commercial clients and haven’t had any issues. From the guy who did the same but still have Sony camera , my advice is dont sell the Sony , keep it cuz after few weddings you'll realize that you need your Sony back , sometimes . Sony is the apple of camera brands, people buy it for its perception of being the best but when you breakdown the specs and features on paper its not entirely true.
