Nice video. A great car for the BPR and GT1 categories, within the spirit of the rules too. I remember the 600LM running with the fastest F40s at Le Mans in the opening laps in front of the McLaren's, only finished 20th or so though if I remember correctly. They always pronounced it Vontury on the telly though.
Glad you enjoyed the video! It really was a great car, fun to watch and by all accounts, fun to drive as well (having to take Tiff Needell's word for it on that one haha)
I absolutely love this car and how a small company actually pushed it to success. Nice to see a good ending for an obscure car, great video!👍 Also I laughed my ass off at the introduction to the GT lol
Fun fact the 400GT was explicitely designed after the F40, for the gentlemen driver championship which saw it begins... And was, as said by one of the two creators, the first car homologated for the road with carbone breaking system
I live near Couëron, where the Venturi factory once was, so I have the luck to see at least one at every big car meet, I even saw a 400 GT and 600 LM at a car expo with 7 other Venturi
Who doesn't loved this car in Gran Turismo 2? It was one of the, if not the best looking car in the game, it had a road version that could race on most normal races, an a race version which it was so powerful, that it could match lap times of the mighty Toyota GT-One. Of course, in old Gran Turismo, you race against yourself, and this car was the only one capable of matching the GT-One lap times. Such an unfortunate fate for a great looking car and brand, which should've definitely continued on, they had the right stuff for great cars. We love you Venturi.
I didn't know that Venturi was in GT2 back when I played the game until I downloaded the PS1 emulator and the game a few years ago. Seeing Venturi making soulless EVs just 5 years after the OG company went bankrupt is sad.
GT2 is how I found out they existed in the first place haha. Yeah, it is a shame, I'd love to see a proper Venturi road sports car again, but I doubt it unfortunately.
When I was playing Gran Tourismo 2, one of my most favourite cars was my (admittedly tuned to the hilt) Venturi 300 Atlantique. That car would lay waste to all the Skyline LM Race Cars you would race against on the harder races, and it looked great on the replays. And next to it in my game garage was my yellow Vector W8 Twin Turbo, which was even more mental than my Atlantique. Fun days. If I recall correctly, Richard Hammond did a review for the 300 Atlantique for Top Gear, yonks ago?
In Gran Turismo 2 it was my F40 replacement since Ferrari wasn't there! I saw that car in french car magazine called auto hebdo back in 2000 I was very surprised by how closed it looked like the F40 I wish I could buy one
I actually made a Venturi Atlantique 400GT replica on GT7 by using a 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 since it’s body shape and length is much closer to the car that I replicated.
On one end, yeah GT2 and racing games as well as magazines, yeah! The Venturi 400 GT was a cool car! On the other end, me having watched the 1994 Le Mans was Interesting video makes me also think that the Venturis were kinda unreliable in many ways lol
Who else recognized the Gran Turismo background music? 😃 Calling it a "French F40", I don't think "underhanded" is the word for it. More like a "backhanded compliment".
And the story of Venturi ends with a full pro-order book, because of some bankster too greedy for their investments, and the French administration who didn't want to help because helping a brand made for "rich people" wasn't the interest of a socialist government.
Like a Fiero GT, for sure, with a 408 BHP engine. Nothing to see with Fieros, who were mass production cars. Venturi were hand made cars, with a top guality manufacturing process. All different from each others, and built in accordance with every customer tastes. With high luxury carbon or leather interiors. And the 400 GT was the first car in the world equiped with carbon brakes.
I dominated Gran Turismo 2 in this car. I always wondered why it didn't get the love that other tiny car makers got.
This car was my favorite in its class. Very balanced power and handling. I had a blast driving it
Much relate to this first car I used a game wheel with too
And in the background of this video we hear the menu sound of Gran Turismo 2 😎
I love 400GT since being a kid and I'm a 90s kid.
grand tourismo est un jeux francais
It's looks like a mix between a F40 and a 300 ZX,but it still looks beautiful :)
I agree, fantastic looking car!
Lotus Esprit*** is the correct answer lol
Car Designs in the 90s were at its pinnacle.

Test Drive 6 is where I discovered this car. This channel is awesome, brings back so many memories.
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
It was the same for me - it was my favourite car in TD6
Same for me!
I absolutely love this car and how a small company actually pushed it to success. Nice to see a good ending for an obscure car, great video!👍

More people should know about this car! Its an all-time great for me. Really glad you enjoyed the video :)
It made me really laugh too😂lol

I fell in love with the Atlantique in the late 90s. Venturi made some amazing cars 😍
Love the gt2 music soo much nostalgia
Fantastic video! Amazing car, one of the 90s coolest for sure!

@@automobilistic They have a pretty good Formula-E team at least
Sounds like this car is quite underrated!
ALPINE was another french carmaker of the period ❤❤❤❤
Appreciated the Gran Turismo music choice...it is where I know the brand from!
Amazing car, been lucky enough to get close with one and it’s just perfect
Remember one of these in yellow frequently visiting Santa Pod about 15 years ago. Think it was in the low 12s.

400 GT looks like a child of F40 and Esprit marriage

(🇨🇵) Il y a une vidéo super intéressante des deux fondateurs : "petites observations automobiles", (Venturi).
I actually made a Venturi Atlantique 400GT replica on GT7 by using a 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 since it’s body shape and length is much closer to the car that I replicated.
That's a good looking car
To try to compete with Lamborghini, Ferarri and Porsche is an audacious ambitious mammoth task, to say the least

Next video from 80's cars
"Fav car of 90s"
Well excuse me I guess the F50 and F1 got slapped in face!!!!!
Love your opinion hell mine is a regular Audi 80
hahaha, the F50 and F1 and plenty of others may well be better cars, but I *like* the Venturi. And I've got love for the Audi 80 too!
The youtube channel rasso ouest just published an interview of the two founders of Venturi.
Who else recognized the Gran Turismo background music? 😃

Me: Ooo maybe i should have this as a grail car
4:15
Me: dammit
I was mad that this car was faster than the team Oreca Viper GTS-R! But let's talk about the American F40 the 1989 Camaro Iroc Z 😁
The Venturi Coupe 200 looks like a 328 in a way
Would love to see this in a gran turismo game
I remember it was in Gran Turismo 2, but not any later games sadly
@@automobilistic yea my bad i should have said newer gran turismo games.
I feel like I'm buying some new wheels in GT 😄
Me:Mom can i have a Ferrari F40?
Mom:No we have a Ferrari F40 at home
The Ferrari F40 at home:
Cues of Ford RS200, Nissan 300ZX, Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione/F40 and Mitsubishi GTO...
LA ! C'est UNE voiture, UNE Ferrari, UNE F40, UNE Venturi !
1st cars were the Venturi 210 and 260, i thought they looked better.
Did it use a Renault V6 from a alpine 610?
Basically, it's rather the 24-valve V6 of the Peugeot 605 SV24... with 2 turbo
👍
Looks like a cross between a f40 and a daytona.

"France's first earnest attempt at a sporty luxury car since WW2". Don't you think Facel Vega did this in the early 60's
And the story of Venturi ends with a full pro-order book, because of some bankster too greedy for their investments, and the French administration who didn't want to help because helping a brand made for "rich people" wasn't the interest of a socialist government.
But somehow they still exist. i wonder how...
@@markusjuenemann It's just an italian guy who bought the name.

The Venturi 300 atlantique certainly looks quite similar to the fiero GT haha
