Here's another clay cracking experiment and this time changing up the inside instead of the topcoat! There was a great suggestion under one of my videos to try squishies instead of clay (I normally try to screenshot the user for credit but unfortunately this comment was so old I couldn't find it anymore). So I decided to make a squishy in the same shape as one of my clay cracking hearts. This was then covered with nail polish and left to dry as usual. The result was surprisingly satisfying!! And best of all, this method is reusable so you can crack the squishy as often as you like by reapplying the nail polish.

i actually appreciate this, a lot of these asmr/satifying diys seem so wasteful and bad for the environment for like 2 seconds of satisfaction.

Little crackles within the clay along with the outside crack.
Air dry clay is mostly paper. Silicone is plastic.
I stumbled across a channel a few years ago that was using small squishies for their cracking. I think they used wax or plaster coats instead of nail polish. It was great cracks. I appreciated that it was reusable compared to clay. Thanks for reminding me of this method! ❤
that worked way better than I was expecting! for people who want to do this themselves and don't have much experience with DIY, I would add that you should be sure the squishies are clean and free of polish before storing. it looks harmless now, but left like that for extended periods, the polish could eventually react with the silicone and cause the whole thing to melt. same goes for polyclay and nail polish, I can personally attest to that one! a moment of silence for the charm I spent 2 hours making 😂
1) instead of making a mold out of silicone for a silicone squishy, why not make a mold out of Oyumaru/Insta Morph? That way you can get a solid mold without worrying about the silicone from the squishy sticking to the silicone mold. Plus Oyumaru/Instamorph can be safely melted down and used again.
2) To help silicone putties to sticking to mold plus save on glitter usage, dust the mold with glitter/mica powder heavily and dump extra back into its storage container, then pour the silicone for the squishy. Not only will this help prevent the squishy from sticking to the mold, it will also give you a nice coat of glitter on your squishy without having to mix a lot into the silicone.
Skip to the end? No way! Then we'd miss the most interesting parts!

I just wanted to say that people do not like temu not necessarily because it’s Chinese (I’m sure many people are against it for that but i think most really are not) People are against it because they have very poor working conditions and actively support child labor and to my understanding other similar practices. People are definitely more willing to boycott it because it’s a Chinese company and I recognize that, nestle supports slave labor and people know this and still buy their products; it’s not right but it does not make them less of a bad thing. You are an adult and a great creator and you can do whatever ever you want, it’s your life, I just wanted to try to explain why people are bringing this up to you because I think it’s mostly in good faith and not because the company is Chinese.

after watching your video on taba squishies i went down a rabbit hole! i was able to order the same silicone they use from aliexpress! it wasn't a product listing but i just contacted one of the taba sellers and they shipped me some! i watched a lot of videos and in the videos sometimes they added vaseline to the molds and sometimes baked the silicone after curing. i tried it out and was able to make sticky yet mochi soft squishies with a chocolate mold! I hope you give it a shot in a video and maybe show all the differences of silicone squishy gel on the market right now!
I have also seen korean diy channels make "softies" which look like taba squishies but are completely clear! I would love to know where to get that kind of gel.

I found another kind of squishy material! A korean youtuber jjomanjan made squishies out of a squishy 2 part material then oven bakes it to cure. You can colour it with candle dye or pastels. Check out her gummy bear video. It is so cool, very squishy. I wonder if you can find out what it is

If you want to reuse the nail polish, you can also add a little bit of nail polish remover to It and mix it,it should go back to nail polish.
It won't. Nail polish remover is designed to break down nail polish, which is why you should never add it to nail polish that's gone gloopy, as it destroys it. There's nail polish thinner which is designed to add back the chemicals that evaporate from nail polish, which is the reason it goes gloopy, but even then you'd have a hard job getting usable nail polish from chunks of nail polish that's completely dried out.
