watching older videos, I realized that Rainbow's head did have a body at one point; it was used to give forelegs to the gentle fox with the wreath around her neck (ep #15), so it's infinitely funny to me that the head would later be put onto a fox's body. we've come full circle and on complete accident.

Her backstory could be she was created in a lab and had tests ran on her, hence why she turned rainbow, and she was basically a Frankenstein cat. (with evil intentions)

The panda-ness could have been helped by adding the body color markings, I think. But the texture of the ice cream buns is definitely reminiscent of fluffy pulled-up-somehow ears of a cocker spaniel. Lovely characters, as always!
