I love most of these restaurant pieces, not for the food (which I adore), but for the bonding that these folks have for each other, even though they could consider themselves competitors. With small businesses it's not about personal success above all else, it's about helping each other succeed and giving props to those that deserve it. Great filming and editing on these pieces!
"Never wanted to open a bag, never wanted to open a can.." = words that make me excited to try EVERYTHING. also..."Lower price point.", sounds NICE. 6:24 brings tears to my eyes...so beautiful.
These videos make me very happy for some reason..Its just great to see cooks whose hard work paid off and now they own and work in amazing restaurants, thanks Vice!
I love seeing the evolution of a mom and pop restaurant. Give these guys a decade and they'll be freaking adorable. From vice to whatever ever incarnation of Triple D in 2023
hahahahaha, I'm American, but I do prefer the current Euro/Continental style of fork wielding. I guess the American style forksmanship was how it used to be done, and we didn't get the memo when you guys switched it up!
I don't remember ever saying that they were hipsters. I actually think that they're extremely down to Earth. Also, how do you know I'm not cultured? Because I think that certain restaurants are dark, that means I'm not cultured and lead a less fulfilling life than them? Thanks for the info :-)
Im sorry but when I go out I order a starter, main and desert. But the main is still the same size as a normal dinner. They don't make it smaller so you can have a starter and desert.
I love trying new beers. I think alcohol and spirits is such a individualist preference. Like saying a $10 wine is inferior to a $20 bottle because of price. My preference is wheat, Abbey, and Trappist ales. Who is to say what one is better than the other.
I can't afford that kind of food either, but the point of make small portions is precisely to eat different stuff, not to eat less. I'm a stoner since 2002 and I prefer to enjoy my munchies with nice and varied food (Made by myself or a friend), not with pepsi and doritos.
I don't eat McDonalds. Nothing wrong with ordering a beer with food. But it is pretentious when the chef tells me what beer to order with what food. I know what I like.
"i've never seen someone make their own couscous" ..are u fucking kidding me, im a student and i live off the stuff, its easier to make than wiping my own arse front to back.
damn straight! 20$ for 3 bites of food. FUCK THAT! If you eat that little you will just get more hungry. If its 1/3 the size it should be 1/3 the price. Hell, even eating out is pointless anyways. Buy a cook-book for 10 bucks and cook it yourself! Stuff you make with your own hands tastes better anyway. Its even better if you grew/killed the stuff you cook. Grilled bass over a camp-fire with some salt and butter = best meal I have ever had....because I caught it.
Well, you are supposed to order several dishes, that's why they're small. They usually don't cost as much as a full meal, so I don't see how this is supposed to trick people into buying more.

Dude and his wife seem like real down to earth folks. Good episode!

How humble of you.
My fave thing to do with this vid (aside from watching it) is have a shot every time he says "awesome" - maaaaaaaaaan its crazy
It's says "slayer" on the meatgrinder... already in love with this place! 0:50
"YOOO CHEDDAR BISCUITS BRO!!!!"
That's exactly how every conversation about Red Lobster in the entire world goes.
this is definitely my favorite munchies episode yet!
I like how many times he said awesome.
Everything they ate looked spectacular!!
0:52 That is the coolest mincer I have ever seen. Legend of Zelda and Slayer.
hahahahaha, I'm American, but I do prefer the current Euro/Continental style of fork wielding. I guess the American style forksmanship was how it used to be done, and we didn't get the memo when you guys switched it up!
i dont think i have ever seen an episode of munchies that i would describe as "down to earth"
a cook is like an artist
Finally, a non--tatted, non-hipster, non-suicial NORMAL chef. We need to see more of these types
FroopieLoopies 🙌🏾 I know right!
most down to earth episode yet
the amount of times i heard the word man was ridiculous
Seems like a fun group to hang out with.
That was real relaxing to watch.
Wait wait he says the preservatives in olive gardens food gives him headaches yet he’s smoking cigarettes after every stop lol
The first munchies I watch where I actually would like to go eat at those places.
Awesome food at both places.
What bloody recession!
This is what a munchies should be. They are cool, fun, normal and I would totally hang with them.
Olive Garden breadsticks and alfredo are among my favorite things.
Great episode

Not to troll but: "all these preservatives give me a headache"... WHILE taking a puff of his cigarette.
The star for me here was that pizza at Radius - must eat!
Oh man, all those varieties of beer.
Thanks Vice - delicious video.
Tiff def loves her desserts
''I can make amazing food....lets make the portions TINY'' Chef-logic.
Im sorry but when I go out I order a starter, main and desert. But the main is still the same size as a normal dinner. They don't make it smaller so you can have a starter and desert.
Lool the "deconstructed" omelette, haha
Finally, a new Munchies vid not based in NYC
The beer director really has that "beer face", red as fuck haha!
DO MORE PLACES IN DC!!
that small dish at 01:30 would probably cost around 40$ and still wont make you almost half full
Whoa, the ground beef thing had a Slayer and a Triforce Sticker on it!
Where in the video was price mentioned? All the food looked great and everyone seemed cool / not pretentious.
Dat Slayer sticker on the meat machine!! 0:54
Best restaurateurs in DC!,
I haven't had cheddar biscuits in forever I want some now
I love trying new beers. I think alcohol and spirits is such a individualist preference. Like saying a $10 wine is inferior to a $20 bottle because of price. My preference is wheat, Abbey, and Trappist ales. Who is to say what one is better than the other.
that pizza looked Fantastic....
awesome!
He's a metal head, and a great chef. I need to work for him.
renee hamilton proof of this?
Finally munchies in DC
Not only is the cheff a slayer fan but he is also a dragon slayer.
Slayer rules btw
I can't afford that kind of food either, but the point of make small portions is precisely to eat different stuff, not to eat less. I'm a stoner since 2002 and I prefer to enjoy my munchies with nice and varied food (Made by myself or a friend), not with pepsi and doritos.
Great episode :)
The first one without hipsters!
Everything made in restaurant that is some good stuff ;)
What do you do for a living Mr red faced guy? "Beer"
I personally like trying new beers. To each his own I guess.
I don't eat McDonalds. Nothing wrong with ordering a beer with food. But it is pretentious when the chef tells me what beer to order with what food. I know what I like.
i think slayer is a pretty cool guy. eh cooks food and doesn't afraid of anything
side note: 8:58 their cheddar biscuits are pretty damn good
We love how the rest of the world is on our balls for everything.
I feel like I would like to hang out with these people.
Damn! All that food made me hungry!
Anyone who likes night court must be a good dude.
What a blast!
Where are the hipsters? Is this Vice? Who made this? Where am I? Who am I? I'm so confused!

Wtf? Why are these chefs drooling over red lobster and olive garden? Are they kidding

The other guy looks like the Guitarist of foo fighters.
Good food. No pretense. Great episode.
00:52 Zelda sticker on meat grinder too!
I thought the beer guy was Spencer Pratt at first
What's up with the tiny dishes with barely any food on them? The deserts are twice the size of the main dish.
That egg looked so good.
Thats because if it tastes good, youll order more plates because youre curious and still hungry!
Here's to drinking and also eating. FUCK YES
Me too man wtf that looks ruff.
lol
SLAYER on the meat grinder
If he was trying to say pesto i think i'm going to cry.
I swear every frikin episode they go to a pizza place
"i've never seen someone make their own couscous" ..are u fucking kidding me, im a student and i live off the stuff, its easier to make than wiping my own arse front to back.
