Munchies: Hopgood's Foodliner

  • Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
  • Hopgood's Foodliner is the brainchild of Geoff Hopgood. Situated in the middle of Toronto's Roncesvalles neighborhood-a historically Polish area that's now been gentrified-Hopgood's imports the energy and flavor of Canadian Maritimes cuisine and chefs it up slightly. We took the Hopgood's crew out to one of their favorite restaurants, Chantecler, a popular spot in Toronto's Parkdale neighborhood that alternates between decadent tasting menu sittings and a more subdued, lettuce wrap Sunday meal. After that, we headed up north to the Junction neighborhood for drinks at Hole in the Wall. The night ended back at Hopgood's for a seafood party. It was dizzying and delicious. Hope you enjoy it.

The speech at the end makes me want to work for this guy. I love to see the end party on every Munchies. It's a cool dynamic to see the whole crew get together and synchronize at the end.

don't know about that, but over here in the uk, the donner (girls name) kebab comes with cabbage, lattice, onion,2 slice of tomato, 2 of cucumber, and some pickled chilli's. most top the meat with chilli sauce ( home made chopped tomato shit. )I go for lemon juice and garlic mayo on the salad.

All that seafood. . you'd think Toronto was on the coast rather than in the middle of N. America. I just saw several thousand dollars worth of snowcrab, oyster, lobster and mussels served up in a few minutes. Looks like they are having a good time. . I'd probably try to control my liquor if I was going on a documentary. . but hey. makes it more interesting.

Don't know about you, but I live in midwest America...I can't find half of those ingredients in my local shop. Personally, if I were on a trip to Toronto, I'd rather have (what some may call) this "overpriced, not as good" food over anything. They seem like passionate but humble individuals worth my money and time. Lobster luge sealed the deal, though.

I have no problem with people serving inexpensive food in a so called 'fancy' way and ask premium price for it. I have a problem with people actually eating there and keeping the place alive.
