Dont mean to sound like the safety police. But welding in galvanized metal can cause poison gas/smoke. I have had stomach issuse in the days after welding galvanized metal. Dont want others to have stomach issues like i did.😊 Oh and neat project.😊 Going tressure hunting is always fun😊
Rinoa Super-Genius nonsense. Burn some magnesium. Get that fluffy white powder. Mix it with some stuff from an old Soviet gas mask and there you go. Pure cocain. Snort that stuff.
That was so cool! I'm going to make one and walk along the banks of the Rhine! Thanks for the idea. I'll probably make mine a little longer; I have back issues.
Slow drill speed (if available), light pressure, and preferably a drop or two of "Rapid Tap" cutting oil. Let the drill bit do the work. Minimizes the risk of the bit biting in causing chaos.
Generally you'll find the privy in backyard on the back edge of the property line . Mainly in the corner or in the area where you find black ash pits or where you find the use coal in the backyard . There are always exceptions as to where you may find the privy. Some can be jst a few feet out the back door . That's means there was a family member that couldn't walk all the to the end of the yard .
The back saver part of the nut that Is welded on the probe works like this . If you are probing undisturbed ground , in other words, ground that had never had a hole dug in it, the nut will stop you from wasting your time and your effort on such ground , whereas if you find a privy the nut will let you probe right thru without hindering you. If your aren't literally almost falling your face when you're probing , then you're most likely not probing a privy. Stop stop over probing the privy hole . Once you know what it feels like to find one , probe it one time / 2 at the most . Don't try to feel for bottles with the probe . If you're doin that , you're breaking something. Jst know it a privy because of the ease it was when you found it .
i found a long grill fork for hotdogs in a trashcan i took the 2 pointy things bent them off and sanded the thing down and made a point on it i call it mini probe
Excellent build technique on the probes. Keeping the outermost hole undersized before welding prevents unexpected pressure failures that could have led to injury.
Can always surface harden it with a carbon clay type mixture. Should be rather effective in a very narrow rod like that. Clockspring has a video on the process if you are interested.
Stop Stop . I am a veteran privy digger . Use only spring steel . You will be absolutely disappointed with anything less. Use 1/4 " to 3/8 "at least 4' long depending on how tall you are . Maybe the ball tip works idk , but I'm pretty sure that with the force used in the probing process , a rounded tip will go right thru a medicine or a whiskey flask like hot butter. My probe has a tapered sharpened point with a welded nut that is slid up on the probe approx 2 1/4 inches . The purpose of that is 2 fold . It's a back saver and the will bring up a soil sample such as lime and also for a red brick sample . Any brick that you hit that's 3 ft In the ground is a good sign.
Cool but not to say your welding skills are bad but I think you should put a cap over part of the handle with the end of the rod, would hate for a weld to fail and go through you hand. Think of how much lost video game time that would be!
well thats the thing, this is really soft steel so its not really possible to put so much stress on it that it keeps straight but it breaks the welds and shoots through. it'll just curl up on me, thats kinda why i decided not to hunt for spring steel.
I looked through the comments and no one said that this material will bend to easily. Within five minutes it’s gonna be bent. Sorry to be to odd one but I’ve been using probes for years . Stainless steel is the material 😁❤️
Rinoa Super-Genius I call it privy because down south here, out houses has some bad connotations, as in gross. To me privies just sounds a little better. It may be because we still have outhouses down here on some homes.
Nice easy cheap way to make a probe. Very well demonstrated in the basement. Great job buddy. Subscribed!!
Gonna make
One a these gave me some
Good ideas

its not good to smell ANY metal fumes, thats why i do it outside and hold my breath.

i tried it, working well so far
Great video!! Nice job on the probes!!!

hope you find something good with it!
i like using them old bricks to prop my grill plate on open pit fires
Atta Girl!!!! Woulda been crazy if you hit a dig when testing it out!

that was the slowest speed on the machine

Great I'm surprised how easy it goes in the soil! I gonna make me one of those.
i recommend making more than one, so you have different sizes.
love your getter done style

Imagine doing this in NY. Cant go more than 2 inches without hitting a small rock lmao

we have the same backpack
U really should wear glove while digging for glass Riona; )

i dont eant it harder, id rather it bend than break
i just stumbled on your channel . would like to see what happened with the saw.
well you can already see what happened in the videos, cant see what will happen next until the next video

What happened to the rocket engine stuff?
i ate it, it tasted yummy.
You are the yummy one!
not sure how to take that. lol.... (・_・ )
Take it as you are magically delicious!
PS: You are always doing things outside, I should help you build a workshop.

okey dokey well hopefully I won't have to call you rinoa lefty leonheart in the future. btw nice bench grinder new or did you refub it?
lefty?

Only bends if you arent careful
Hot roll steel is crudely produced the diameter won’t be to standard. Cold roll steel dimensions is more precise and more expensive.
Why no, i would give it a try at least.
Keep up the good work my friend! :)
Nice job, I can’t imagine that being good for your back though.
yeah well its what fits in my backpack. the longer one is nicer for the back.
maybe a broadfork design could work
thanks
I think the next video should be about making a DIY ground penetrating radar.
gonna have to collect some parts for that. :p
Dang I was going to suggest that!
Nice
I have been thinking of doing the exact same thing in making a probe. It's privy hunting time?
i find it so weird that people keep calling outhouses "privies", just sounds so weird. lol
Rinoa Super-Genius I call it privy because down south here, out houses has some bad connotations, as in gross. To me privies just sounds a little better. It may be because we still have outhouses down here on some homes.
doesnt make it any less gross. I only really know them as either an outhouse or a dunny, or simply calling it a toilet. at least in english.
Jimmy Hoffa Probe
Hey Rinoa, I sent you a pm on UA-cam :) nice video btw
First
far from it.
