Cheers for this, relatively new to hobby, but refuse to pay through the nose for proper MD spades. Just about to start making my without much thought but so glad I found this. Simple things like full size template first, only cut out one side to ensure perfect symmetry. Only change I will make is using double sided tape to keep template in place each time. Once again, thanks for taking the time to produce and share.
Bob Dunn apparently it's to help ripping through roots as it works like a saw so can be handy around trees but that's just up to the individual, so of your happy without the seated edge that's fine. happy hunting.
Absolutely belting job that mate, so many people nowadays either cant be arsed or just rush and do a cowboy job, you can confidently be proud of your work on that, just ordered a spear & jackson stainless border spade to have a go myself. I'll be well chuffed if it comes out as nice as yours.
That is outstanding, if shipping wasn't so much, I would love to have one of these. It looks like this would make it so much easier to dig while dirt fishing, being handicapped and all. Nice job. Semper Fi
This is as you say a problem with the size it would probably be costly to post and it would also need to be tracked and signed for that will also add to cost. and thanks for comment.
Great job. I never though of doing this. Wish i had of bought a stainless steel shovel at Bunnings. Looks like another trip next pay lol. I really enjoyed this video. Thanks.
Got myself a spade almost identical to yours, going to give it a go as I've been out today and the ground is so hard need something that's going to penetrate through. Just hope I get your template right lol.

@@TheYjmfan good luck and just don't rush it. Its always better finishing off with the file to get a nice neat line and the right angle all along, its surprising how much material a good file takes off. I just keep filing until each tooth becomes a blade but dont grind it down to a blade with a grinder or you will have to keep filing after they become blades to get the grind marks out and may mess the teeth up. I now have made a belt grinder that speeds thing up as I grind most of the material off with the belt grinder to the point just before it become shape leaving a bit of a flat edge on then finish off with the file to get the edge and the perfect angle. 👍
Ed Holley I had a request from a Detectorist to make and sell them one so just finished it and started another 3 just in case £30 just for the head so they can shaft it there self or £40 for full finished made to size required pick up only at moment.
Hi great video and really cool result , Can I ask you if there is any way anyone can get the template ? The reason I ask is I would like to have a go at doing one myself , I do not know if you would charge for this ? I just think it is a great idea . cheers
RIO DETECTING I do sell them for £45 and pickup from Wigan area as or post and postage cost added on. I do have one ready for the shaft but would need to know the full length required from top of handle to point of blade. Also the one I have ready is the other blade I show in the video, the round neck one, not the strap one.
i have no problem doing another as i have already made most of the spade head, the problem is i am in the uk and im not sure what the postage to the us would be but if you really wanted me to find out i could make another up and check what it would cost at the post office.
The best looking metal detecting spade I've ever seen.
thanks.
Spot on 👌
love your sense of details , looks great .
Thanks
Very nice!

Bob Dunn your welcome thanks for reply.
@@WALLACE7084 I've completed mine without the serrated edges. What are the benefits apart from self protection 😀

i know I'm kind of randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to stream newly released series online?
@Marcelo Kairo Flixportal =)
@Joshua Arthur Thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service =) I appreciate it !!
@Marcelo Kairo Happy to help :D
Hi I’ve just cut my digger to size do you suggest the teeth going upwards? Thanks
Yes if you mean like i have done it basically works like a saw blade with the teeth facing forward to make the cut.
WALLACE7084 thanks very much my one is tempered steel. And that’s how I’ve now marked them, ready for cutting.

I'd love one but can't pick up. With a steel shaft. They look incredable
Cool 👍
Hey great video. Do you start with a digging spade or a border spade
Am I the first person to ask "Can you make me one?" LOL.. Great video.
No your not the first person and I do sell them on occasion for £45 but you have to pickup in Wigan or I can post but postage will be added on.
Hi, great job, well impressed, where abouts do you live so i can buy one off you, i live in leigh near wigan, are you in the north west, cheers Gareth
Yes I'm only in Wigan but I don't have any made up at the moment but I can let you know when I have.
OMG mate that's awesome ATB&HH NIGE ☺
thanks pal i intend to make a few more when i get around to it and been thinking of some other design to make that may be beneficial for detecting.

The template would really depend on the size of spare you have if it was the same size as mine it shouldn't be a problem.
Do you sell these? Their very nice!!👍
I have sold 3 £45 plus post or pickup if possible.
WALLACE7084 how much is that in US dollars?
$55.46 and whatever post it.
WALLACE7084 can you find out how much to ship to Flint, Michigan USA
@@robertvanalstine4963 ok will do.

Nice Shovel and Saw Combination.. Like to buy one.. The One I bought from WAL MART is ok, but for $40 its fine, but I'd pay $100 for a Handmade one.
