- The Kyiv Independent's Masha Lavrova sat down with Ukrainian Hollywood actress Ivanna Sakhno, famous for her roles in "Pacific Rim Uprising," "The Spy Who Dumped Me,” and 2023 "Ahsoka" television series from the Star Wars universe, to discuss her experience of watching the war unfold in Ukraine from the U.S., and her advocacy mission to keep bringing the world's attention to Ukraine. The conversation took place in Kyiv during Ivanna's recent visit.

On the end you can't control them anymore, specially if they have nukes. Democracy distributes this power to many people and restricts it to a time frame . Just call it Humanism and you have a valid point that it's literally in your DNA.
Absolutely nothing against a positive kind of Ukrainianism. But please don't make a lightheaded reference to any culture being "in somebody's DNA". That's not a smart wording, with seemingly little awareness of a very evil ideology which caused WW2.
Btw I feel the same when seeing e.g. Ukrainian child being shelled, any human who hasn't lost all empathy would feel so. Just a lot of people cope with atrocities by looking away 😢
It's ok to be proud of where you come from. To love your family, country and yess all humanity. But your roots are part of you.
