As someone who got into crypto relatively early (2015) for the technology, It's really disappointing how people have done so much to destroy and abuse a system. I still know the foundational technology behind some of these projects are truly interesting, but the number of get rich quick scams is truly upsetting.
It was always a scam. Bitcoin itself, the original big daddy coin, is the promise that you will be billionaires if you hold onto it enough. A new breed of scammer came along and went 'wait if we pump and dump we get it quicker' just.

@@Garthdon I think originally it was meant to be a store of value outside the control of governments. Beside that though, the actual use case for blockchain is both specific, but interesting enough that I hope the technology won't be forgotten once the trash of crypto is swept away.

I love the Paul Singh string of comments. Some of the accounts have been created in the past few months. He must be a busy man handling so many accounts, or he probably just contracted all the bullshit to India.

I joined this type of group few years ago. These 200x or get rich quickly messages got me. In fact, it is only the first few guys who bought the coin before pumping got money. They sell quickly when many people got into and get the profit. I realized that shady trick and I immediately left.

Really great expose on russ, the influence of his posts on social media about projects is not often positive in the long run. A few of the projects you mentioned as rugpulls are actually still alive but were forced to migrate their liquidity to new tokens, partially due to the loss of confidence investors had after russ and his associates dumped on them.

at some point i stopped feeling bad for all the "poor" investors who lost all their money. fomo is not an excuse.
I could see how someone could be fooled once by him. I almost fell into a couple somewhat embarrassing coins in retrospect, when I was still new to crypto, chose correctly by staying away, but it's not always easy. In this case I don't see how people haven't caught on though when the guy's track record is apparently straight dog shit.

At this point, if anyone jumps into those meme coins believing all these frauds on the internet, they deserve what will happen to them.

Yeah, you're not wrong. The majority of people investing in "shit coins" are well aware of the risks and extreme volatility. They actively seek out the shit coins and only invest in them. These people do lose a lot of money, but it only takes one payday on a shit coin, and all of a sudden your 2 thousand dollars is worth 250k dollars and then you cash out and have thousands of dollars to invest in among 10-20 new shit coins.
The guy in this video is doing everything he's being accused of doing most likely, but he's not the only person in the coin that is getting richer. The smart people cash out while in profit and they are just normal investors, not the coin creators or promoters. It's also worth noting that the entire market in stocks and crypto has been a downward bearish trend for months. Even legit projects are looking like those scam coins in the video when it comes to how far they've dropped in price from their all-time highs. In other words, there is an argument to be made that those shit coins are just reacting to the market swings the same as any other investment is right now.

Early in the video he said you would make 140k if you invested $100 in EACH of his new picks. From his math it looks like there were 7 picks in 7 months which would in fact be a 200X return on the $700 investment. Not a big deal, just thought I would point that out.

Some of the math doesn't. really add up still as how much is the subscription and the text did say 7 months so 1 pick a month is ridiculous and if the 7 week is correct and it's once a week it's a bit better. They usually do a great job of absolving themselves of blame. The "investor" is supposed to do their own research because it's a risky investment. It's not enough to know they did a pump & dump; you have to be able to prove it.

Time and time again, it's been shown "hope of easy money trumps logic" no matter how much info is out there showing something is a scam.
I hope that Spencer will one day analyze the paid course from 'crypto mindset.' I've been wondering if it's a scam because it's promoted by fresh and fit who literally know nothing about investing, it is pretty expensive, and it's on a time limit so you only have a finite amount of time to sign up every quarter which gives a nice FOMO

For that to happen it has to serve a purpose, be useful, and it has to be used by millions of people...all the time. There are thousands of coins and new ones are popping up everyday and can be created by anyone who feels like it. This is why they are useless and have no value. It's the same thing as if you were to start using a laser printer to print out your own money with your face on it...then trying to convince everyone that it has value and to start using it to buy goods and services.
I'm disappointed that Spencer never said "to the moon". This was the perfect opportunity.

Why don’t they just stay with the coins and continue to develop them so they can actually make money over time. If they didn’t pump and dump, ppl wouldn’t lose money. Also, why do ppl keep buying influence coins immediately after they are promoted instead of holding out and waiting to see if it’s going to be P&D’d
Dude, the coins don't have any tangible value, there's no value to the investment. It's a gamble to make money before it crashes.
These garbage meme coins just don't have use. Can you use garbage meme coins to buy groceries, pay for gas, pay the bills? No. More development won't really lead to anything when the coins were just money grabs from the start. If they developed the coin to have real use case like Axie Infinity uses crypto, or has real use as payment for goods like Bitcoin / Eth is used for, then it'd be worth continuing development.

as someone that knows people that pull off these pump and dumps there are usually a few teirs for these groups the teir 1 group are the ones that get in and out the early they know all the info and the teir 2 groups generally get in and out a few minutes later with the teir 3 groups which is what 99% of the people in these groups are stuck in get the slowest updates on when to buy and sell leaving most of them unable to cash out or not making a profit

Investing in crypto is not like putting your money in a savings account that pays 10% annualy. Returns will fluctuate from year to year, some times dramatically. The 10% return is only an average of some bang up years and some gut wrenching years.
