      @MajorLawliet 2 роки тому +9

      @@Xander1Sheridan I fail to see how that makes literally any sense.
      For the dudes to keep coming and keep buying, they need to be making gains. Yet you also need to be making gains. Wouldn't that mean the amount of money they are making is greater than the one you are making selling your edge to recoup your losses? Why wouldn't you just acquire those gains yourself?
      Edges are also already hard enough to gain. What makes you assume selling them around would be more long-term profitable? Why would you care about anything but long-term profits unless you are economically fucked, or have the actual knowledge and means to pump that money somewhere else with good returns(at least somewhere better than if you just used your edge)? If you are losing long-term, you aren't actually gaining anything at the end of the day.
      Like, think for a moment. The dudes that do this are fucking data analysts. You think the frauds that have no clue what they are talking about would be the ones racking in cash selling their "edge" if this was sustainable and more profitable, at least without dipping into selling false information like said frauds? Because if that's your definition of good business, I have nothing more to say.

I mean, these dickheads have whole sections of society to prey upon. It's a sad fact, Kama, there will always be scammers and there will always be people who fall for it.
      If you're concerned a family member might be susceptible to this or any type of scam, take the time to talk them through things like this, email phishing scams etc, especially if they give you any hits whatsoever that they might be interested in them. I guess they get a bit suspicious when you drop $625.50 on the Romainian Girls under 21 B grade soccer league and then the next bet is 556.20 on the NBA. The people that are winning are not so willing to share, because if you share the info the small edge you may have starts evaporating. The only think that can be profitable is sport trading, matched betting or arbitrage. If you really want to win at sports betting you have to spend an extraordinary amount of time studying. I've spent countless hours studying sports modelling, wisdom of crowds, and plenty of other subjects, including psychology. I was able to profit some, but I'm so risk averse that I can't gamble much. I also delved into poker math, and I'm able to make some money playing poker; but that again is another thing that consumes an insane amount of time if you really want to learn to properly play and make consistent +EV decisions.

    If he did actual sales on the phone he could make a pretty decent honest living. The love of money will always lead you to destruction on a myriad of levels. That includes gamblers. You believe this guy because you love money. You know deep down nobody can guarantee a win. But the love for money blinds your judgement and you give in hoping to reduce the hard work and stress of picking a game yourself. Best to not gamble and look for safer ways to increase your cash flow and also to not put so much of your heart into money. This is coming from an ex-gambler himself. Weekly AC visitor and daily sports bettor and it is not a great idea no matter how many times you win. But to each his own. The guy is selling parlays for crying out loud. That is a sucker bet.

    Two requests, if possible. Can you make a video or point me to one so I can understand sports betting terminology - like what is a "parley?" I am not a gambler, enjoy watching the vids, but wish I understood everything. Also, what's you mic setup? I having been looking for a good one to do voiceover on the software tutorials I make for the day job (I know boring). Thanks!

    • @SpencerCornelia
      @SpencerCornelia  2 роки тому +16

      "parlay" = a bet that combines 2 or more bets into one. For parlays to "win", all bets within the parlay have to win. If you have a 4 game parlay, this means 4 games are combined into one bet and all 4 games will need to win in order for you to win your bet.
      the odds compound so the payout is greater which entices people to bet parlays, but the odds get worse for the bettor. It's one of the most profitable revenue streams for casinos.

    • @willc6675
      @willc6675 2 роки тому +2

      A parlay means you bet on multiple games to win. So if you bet on Dallas, Houston and Jacksonville to win. The things about it is you may only bet 50 dollars in this parlay to win 2000. The catch is you usually only have about a 2% chance to win this bet.

      @Lawofimprobability I mean, I started with lotteries as my father was a big lottery person(not technically a statistician but I have a lot of education in statistics). The simple answer to sports betting is unless you're willing and able to pour over mountains of data, just don't do it. You absolutely can program (basic stuff) to help assist but ultimately it's a lot of spreadsheets and you probably would make more money in any other way (investing for example) because other choices to sink your money aren't built on making you lose money

    So on the betting guru, he sends 1/2 his clients one set of picks, and the other 1/2 the opposite picks. That way, 50% of the clients win. Then he takes those winners and split it again. Then just rinse and repeat. It’s an age old gambling hustle.

    I'm what you would call "book-smart", not so much "street-smart", but even I can see how these gurus are scammers. I always get an uneasy feeling when I see these videos. Even steve stevens is an obvious scammer. I saw a youtube comment before on stevens' money talks show is what he does is pushes Team A to half his new clients and Team B to the other half. With the half that loses, you do just do the same with the other picks.

  • @unstoppableExodia
    @unstoppableExodia 2 роки тому

    So if I understand correctly the winning sports betters are the quiet nerds who diligently crunch numbers and don’t yell at the camera selling picks but rather quietly profit off their successful analysis while the losing sports betters are loudmouth jocks who want to convince the people watching them that they have all the right picks that are essentially locked in to win and a person would be a fool not to buy them and act on them.
    I appreciate this video exposing them even though I steer well clear of sports betting. Putting even small amounts of money on sporting competitions actually manages to take away the enjoyment I get from them. And the amount of nerdy number crunching required to be successful at sports betting doesn’t really interest me, I’ll save the maths part of my brain for other things. I want sporting entertainment to be an escape from that kinda thing.

    With him and his brother, it's a pretty good strategy if you think about it. They both pick opposing teams to advertise and due to a 50/50 pick... At least 1 of them comes out on top and can claim they are a winner. This way also provides them with the paperwork to backup they got it right if they both place bets on opposite teams.
