Joanna is as cute as she can be. What a great smile and personality!
making a promotional video that can actually be watched is one of the hardest things to do, well done I say
@TheNewBassMan Hi, sorry bit of confusion going on in the video :-) this was a demo on how to make the mould, not the part ie the Sea Kayak, ill see if i can persuade someone to make a part from the mould to demonstrate, many thanks for watching.
Brilliant!! - 17:13 - I suspect Joanna thinks Martin has just made the Kayak model; well done Martin :)
@WJP004 Hi, yes they are many ways, including Metal foil tape ect ect , but we dicided to go with this way (just to make it complicated :-) ), it is easier making a full size one i guess! but we are just trying to explain different ways to the novice using these materials, have a good day .....
I think this videos great. We do GRP Fiberglass roofing, but this seems so much more interesting. I have been interested in making a kayak for years, maybe its time I had a go.
Hi on my list of 'to do's' now :-) thanks for the kind comments.
"Just like that" ! Martin is the Hero.. He's gonna get lucky tonight.. Nice Job. !
doing the parting line with that wax is clever & a good hint .. but never seen mold making that complicated .. we use a special black mold resin some layers of fibers and finally laminating ceramics for enforcement .. much easier and cleaner ..
good job, but the demoulding looks a bit fake to me at 17:10 :)
Perfect video! Thank you.
You're welcome!
Wow just started ordering of these guys. Hope to keep it going.
ahaha!! that favourite ornament is not the one martin made lady ! he made the mould !! that's what you should have been holding no tthe kayak model ! that was made by Derek Hutchinson
@igehring Sometimes lightly rubbing wax over pva aids release slightly in some instances when you are using sheet wax, just a personal preference i guess!
Well i thought it was a good video, nice work guys. Could you do a demo on gel coat repair kits, i.e got a kayak thats had some really bad impacts, cracked gel coat and prob damage to the main fibre. Will need to patch inside, but it's right at the bow and my arms are not long enough. So yeah, a demo on gel coat repair please :O)
i do tons of these everything look fair only funny demolding and you build steps )) first time i see that style. Also your roller is to do car bonnet but not so small piece.)
Nice!
nice shiner there buddy
thanks for the video. Can you explain why you wipe the dried first layer with acetone? I bit confused because most tutorial said that the second layer is applied when the previous layer is in tacky state, but not dried. Thanks
You wipe with acetone to make sure the first layer is tacky - it can dry off between layers, if you leave it too long. The acetone softens the fibreglass again and gives you the tacky surface to lay onto
EastCoastFibreglass I see. Thanks a lot for the info.
@ecfibreglassuk thanks for your comment
is there a video of a part been made in the mould
Thanks :-)
she seemed to miss the point at the end -- the goal was not the little kayak, the goal as the mould itself. Now, what do you do with that mould?
Hi, make another little Kayak :-) they are instructions on other videos how to make parts from a mould if you need any help give us a call, best rgds
Nope. The goal is the kayak. No one buys a saw because they want a saw, they want what the saw allows one to make.
I would like to see how you glue both parts. This step was skipped.
Thanks,
Ray Ramirez
BUT...How do you cast a hollow fibre glass matted object from the two part mould????
Hi best call us on 01914975134 ask for Martin, best rgds
@carbonmods I suspect you are right!!! :0)
Strong Yorkshire accent (I guess).. LOL Interesting vids though.. including the weird accent ! thanks..lol
using wax after PVA ??? I always see wax BEFORE pva videos
scratching me head..... what the hell?
