I think seeing how umisho clearly got that hot feeling in your face in the unthinkable happens to you and start to do involuntary movement out of pure excitement was heart warming, much respect for all top 8
Idom was the best player in that top 8 imo. He controlled Kawano the whole set, winning 4 straight at one point. It came down to a missed overhead meaty and a missed stMP antiair. Such an unlucky final round for Idom. Great top 8 from SFV.

Decided to stick around watching Idom tear through the competition and honestly loved every moment of it. I dont know the frame data or the moves but it was very exciting to watch.
I know MK 11 isn't the hypest game during this time, but the top 8 was actually still pretty good. At the very least, I think SonicFoxes Joker comeback, in his first set against one of the twins, deserved to be a highlight. Even if it isn't surprising, because it was SonicFox.
@@demxlished I’ve been playing NRS games since mk9 it’s literally counter intuitive to how a competitive fighting game is supposed to be played. As someone who's unfamiliar with fighting games/EVO outside of Smash, I have two questions: 1. Why did everyone get hype and yall in unison when Cell yelled? (3:09) Is it merely a reference to the anime when Cell and Gohan faced off against each other, or is it something deeper? 2. Why did the crowd get hype when Panda was chosen on the character select screen? (7:12)
Not sure about question 1 but i think its like a community thing, this was the 1st physical evo since pandemic and they are just hype to do it again. For no.2 Panda is a low tier character but the one play who is choosing it that time (Rangchu) was able to win major tournament using her, so rangchu choosing panda again hypes the crowd.
Late reply but for the scream, the first evo dbfz was in, everyone screamed with cell, like how it was in the anime. You can watch the 2018 evo cell scream and it's probably the loudest scream in any evo. Cell was a top tier back then but now only one guy, shanks, who has been maining cell since back then, had made top 8 so it was a perfect opportunity to do the cell scream. It was the first evo after the pandemic so everyone was hype. And now about panda, the character is in no way even close to a top tier character. The guy who picked panda, rangchu, won the tekken world tour with such an unorthodox character. People were hyped seeing him pick up panda again on the big stage. There's an amazing video on his journey by the channel "theScoreEsports". Just look up "panda tekken 7 theScoreEsports" on youtube.
I've been watching EVO heavily every EVO weekend for years now. I even have the DVDs from back in the day. The sets you purchased and when EVO put the entire tournament as torrents. And I've still haven't made my way to EVO. I think I'll go next year. This is the only fighting game tournament I watch and I keep staying home for it.
@@LoadingScreen9 Panda is considered one of the worst, if not the worst, character in the game. Basically a joke character. Rangchu, being an absolute madman, decided he was going to play Tekken 7 at the highest possible level using Panda and he actually won Tekken World Tour 2018 with Panda, surprising everyone. Since then, he became famous for being THE Panda player and the only person crazy enough to pick a bear in EVO top 8. When he hovers over Panda, the crowd goes wild, and then he takes his time to troll the audience by fooling around in the character select screen before confirming his pick. People are just really hyped for his Panda because, let's face it, picking a low tier character at EVO top 8 is always badass.
