Anyone ever notice how Daigo went from original color scheme ryu to alternate costume ryu and then to evil ryu? Mans had a whole anime arc across the runtime of sf4 and I love it

Man I remember when I was in high school and I got my hands on SF4. All the hype, the youtube videos, EVO, the matches with friends, the PS3 ranking system, man that was a great time. This definitely has more HEART!
This game was so hype. This game offers so much space for creativity...and surprises!

Holy I remembered when Infiltration just started counterpicking everyone, he played every character at such a high tier level it was crazy.
There was plenty of stuff that was ridiculous in this game but I miss it and love it so much more than SFV, goodnight sweet prince.

You know a fighting game is good when you can watch an hour long highlight compilation of it and 9/10 times you're smiling after a clip finishes because it's just that good.
The 1/10 times are demons being landed and you completely lose your shit
seeing this takes me back to my days in Twitch Chat... i can remember seeing most of these clips live and reacting with chat.. great times.
I like how every player had a separate identity in this game Digos the master Ryu momochi Master Ken tokido master akuma smug Dudley ect ect and infiltration was the fucken chameleon lol

Street Fighter 4 truly is a unique game for sure. Not only the game itself with the variety of characters, single player content, different fighting mechanics, the art style, and the music but the hype the community had surrounding it compared to its sequel. And going back to watch these older videos really makes me feel nostalgic especially when it comes to tournaments. Definitely the climax of the series
One of the coolest things in fighting games is when you watch a character specialist do shit you couldn't even imagine and in many cases things you can't do if you try.
It's like the character was a cocoon waiting to hatch until the right player touched it.
Yeah, especially with the more complex characters. I could never play Gen in a million years, but watching him played at a high level is so hype.
Every single top 8 match in Evo2015 for Street fighter 4 is absolutely stunning. Truly fitting for the final EVO tournament SFIV appear on the main stage.

A real tribute to this game what changed my life forever. I have no words to thanks this game. I have played between 2009-2017. Unfortunately I don't play fighting games anymore, because his successor is a big failure. Anyway thank you Capcom
i'm the same, I was living in tokyo when sf4 hit arcades in 2008, played the game for years, sf5 came out, played it for 30 hours at launch, gave up and never played it again, the game is boring and still boring to this day. I don't play any fighters anymore because when sf4 died the genre died for me.
SF4 give us the best figthing game era in the e-sports, so much big names, so much big moments
For this game can I truly say that all of us brought back the meaning of time and technique. Not just as a community, but as a family. SF4.
Man you can appreciate how difficult it was to make a comeback. Those were like at least 2 correct reads while avoiding getting hit. Damn.
I played when I was 9 years old and man my first street fighter so bittersweet to see so many hype moments I just hope 6 can capture the same emotion and excitement

Keep the laughable revisionist history to yourself. SF 4 is the biggest SF has ever been. It sold around 2 million copies during launch week (it took SF VI nearly a month to reach the same number of sales lol). It is the best selling SF game (sales of all versions combined).
SF 4’s character roster wasn’t big? It had a bigger roster than SF 2, SF III, SF V and VI. 25 characters at launch. Get your facts straight before talking nonsense🤓

2:20 is why this is a superior game to sf5. Pure technical skill and patience won him that match. No v trigger bullshit, no dash spam. Hype Comebacks that you have to work for.

@@MichaelHarto The SF5 era is less then a shadow of what SF4 & Marvel offered the FGC.
What I noticed is high level characters were high level because the execution it took to do their combos especially in tournaments. In SF4 you didn't see anyone else playing Adon the way Gamerbee did. No one played Dudley the way Smug did either. Sako was good with Evil Ryu and even won a tournament with him against Xian in the Grand Finals but he'll never have the moment Daigo did at Stunfest 15. Everyone had their own way of expressing themselves with their character. Even in mirror matches you could tell which player was which. SF5 has combos everyone can do. But SF4 had combos and gameplay that made that characters playstyle exclusive to that player. You had to grind for months maybe a year to get that good, not just sit in the lab for 2 days learning the combos.

Watching this for the nostalgia. I don't care how good or bad SF4 may or may not have been. What I can tell you though is that being in the FGC at this time was the peak of entertainment and fun. It was like an unholy mishmash of WWE meets anime energy. I miss browsing Shoryuken and reading tech mixed with drama every day, take me back.

The only videos of Ryan Hart I have ever seen winning is against RIP, and his Tekken 5 (I think it was?) tournament win where he most definitely lost but due to some controller shenanigans they ran it back and he actually won it.

Gen was such an insanely hard to use character. The online was bad but USF4 was a really wild game.
