Oh - how refreshing to find someone who speaks clearly and at the same speed and modulation throughout! Wonderful demo' which I shall try - other methods so far haven't helped me get to grips with free motion - but your demo makes sense in everyway - building up gradually - thank you!

One of my pandemic projects has been trying this on an 1893 treadle machine that I've refurbished. It's actually as easy if not more so than on my Janome Heavy Duty machine.

Hi Linda - What a fabulous thing to do! I have an old Singer (not as old as yours, though) - I should get it out and try it myself. They made them well in those despite, despite the lack of modern technology. :} Deborah

Really nice way to accomplish applique. I've never really liked the way raw edge applique looked but this is perfect. Thank you for showing us.

You are a wonderful teacher! Following your instructions I have been practising for some with some success. Could you please tell me why the bobbin thread sometimes get more pulled? The bobbin thread shows at times

      Your tension is off

    • @DeborahWirsuTextileArtist

Hi Chilka - Most likely, you need to adjust the tension to default settings, but also try using the same thread in the top and bottom of the machine. There are many things that cause tension problems...you can find a related article on my website at www.threadsketchinginaction.com/16-reasons-why-thread-shreds-when-thread-painting-and-what-to-do-about-it/
