This video is really a heartwarming one especially for leather crafters and leather lovers… I’ve never imagined before that there’s such hardwork to produce a piece of leather.. I really appreciate them 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🥰🥰🥰
@@GK-il6vp thanks for your beautiful comment. But let’s think abou it this way: If one day, meat consumptions are not allowed by law, all the livestock animals are to be live happily and freely. And as the consequences of that, human then would live in starvation and malnutrition. Leather in tannery is only the secunder product from the food production. Tanneries and leather crafters DO NOT kill animals just to take their skins. We must admit that livestocks provide us with food, clothing and hard labor in the field and we are thankful to the animal world which has brought us to what we are today. By using leather and make beautiful things from leathers, it gives the animal's death the greatest possible purpose (the more uses the better). Leather goods are better quality and last much longer than synthetic (or plastic) products which of course cause massive amounts of environmental damage to produce. And this damage I believe will affect the animals and you of course.

Leather is a great durable product, and I was also surprised by the process. I found this video as a result of a pair of shoes that just lost a major chunk of the sole. I have had the shoes for well over 10 years, with most wear out in an office environment. The leather uppers are still in good shape, so I am considering if I should have then re-soled (my foot shape has changed due to surgery) or if there is another way to re-use the leather. Also: Human are omnivores and many plant proteins are not as bio-available as animal proteins.

This was my first job when I left school working at low mill tannery in Cumbria ...this was in 1976 ...I loved that job but the factory shut down as I just finished my 5 years production apprenticeship...I would go back tomorrow to work at a tannery...
Pakistan was very well-known for leather production. Even today, most world-class leather jackets are made in Pakistan and are exported to Western markets.

I am very concerned for the health of these workers. Chrome tanned hides are dangerous to handle so they wear gloves but arre completely barefooted walking back and forth in the tanning fluids.
Workers should have all kind of protective gears . Like water proof, cloths, eyeglasses, Boots, etc. My question to the owners: are those protective gears cost too much ? or simply you don't care ?
I own a tannery myself, they dont use them because of high temperatures and steam working machines, you make another video in winter, for sure they will be using jackets, boats, gloves and protective equipment. its part of their culture geting inside a drum for a shower, simply INDIA
I don't understand what is UA-cam policy why they upload these kind of unsafe practice videos UA-cam too much strict over copy right why'd they allowed to show unsafe, non standard misleading vlogs. One worker working in confined space (Drum) no eye 👁️ protection no helmet ⛑️ surrounding area reflective proof of unsafe practice going on. They're making millions millions of dollars from the leather product but there's no quality and benefits for working individuals.
What is so hard about this job?! There's nothing hard about it. It requires no skill whatsoever. All they do is fold the hives and chuck them in . This job can be learned in a few days.. The smell must be horrible though in the first stages of the process.
Nice documentary but which country is this?I wish they could explain the process. Also it's imperative the workers to use personal protective equipment especially hand gloves. These chemicals are hazardous to the skin.
Around 4min I’m in awe. This is eye opening to what it is that we are buying when we buy leather. Thank you.
And you wouldn’t believe the smell in a tannery 🤢. Not a pleasant place to work.
Have you opened your eye on how the cows are mercilessly killed. They need to be alive while scrapping of the hide.
