    I started my tannery after the Romanian ways you have shared. The leather stretcher: I built one! I have to build more machines.

    Que suerte que aún tienen oficios, Europa occidental los ha perdido y según esta el clima ahora, lo mejor es mantener esa vida de ustedes. No lo pierdan y ojalá que los jóvenes se interesen en esos oficios. Bonito video. Un saludo desde España

    I have a question: I did a method where a sheepskin is soaked in a brine of salt and alum for a week. This time around, one of the sheepskin's smells funky after the week of brining. There's no meat attached or anything. I think I just didn't clean the wool well enough. So my question is can I just scrub it with detergent to get it clean and then do the egg yolk step? Or will that undo the brining? If I scrub it, do I need to re-brine it? I'm not sure about this scenario and want to avoid wrecking the sheepskin (it's beautiful black wool). But it's also too smelly to use for anything. If you have advice on how to get rid of the smell, I'm all ears. Thanks!

      @@esperago Hi! You can either tale it to a professional cleaning, or wash it at low temperature, using special detergent for cleaning pelts, or even human shampoo, to avoid hair loss during the process. I don't think this will affect it.

    • @Peasantartcraft
      @Peasantartcraft  23 дні тому +1

      @@esperago You can also add some sodium bicarbonate.

      @Peasantartcraft Ah, I wasn't aware there is such a thing as pelt shampoo or that harsh detergents can cause hair loss. Thank you. Last question: Should I finish the process first by rubbing in the egg yolks or do the cleaning and then do the egg yolks? I would guess finish the process first.
