I have ridden Big Dipper on three separate occasions. Having spoken to multiple riders, the general public seem to love it. The rattle is more noticeable in the back but is hardly a deal breaker. No one I spoke to even noticed it. It always cracks me up when coaster enthusiasts stress out about roughness on a coaster as smooth as Big Dipper. You are not buying a new Mercedes to drive for the next 10 years. You are on a roller coaster for 30 seconds of ride time. Having ridden some really rough coasters on multiple continents since 1975 I was impressed with Big Dipper. Given the space they had to work with and the intended audience it is the perfect coaster for Luna Park. The only problem I have is capacity. The only run one train and operations can be slow.
It would be interesting if intamin makes a hot racer with a blitz layout and Lsm launches. Imagine something like Velocicoaster, Pantheon, BGCE, Toutatis, Taiga, Taron but with demonic pacing like Big Dipper and the prototype raptors.
I think an issue popping up on a lot of recent coasters, particularly Intamins, is that the rider is further away from the center of mass, which is creating a lot more shake and discomfort. With these trains, most of the weight is near the chassis, and since these headrests and restraints are probably light enough for anyone to carry, they seem to shimmy much more. I noticed a similar issue on rides like B&M’s wing coasters, Pipeline, and even VelociCoaster! These seats just shake so much that it’s smoother to have your head and back NOT resting on the seat
@@Cascade777was at fiesta in April and wonder woman rly disappointed me mainly due to the awful rattle. Wonder Woman at magic mountain wasn’t nearly as bad but still noticeable but it’s much newer.
Starring me!! 😂 It was great to meet you guys that day! I thought it was fun, definitely a front seat ride. Considering the small footprint they had to work with, the layout is decent.
My home park! Agree about the rattle! I think it’s due to how the wheels don’t fully butt up against the track. They don’t have the rubber or springs to ensure full contact like B&M or others do. But a fun little ride to have on my way home from work :-)
I went in 2023 and it was amazing! It was so fun I kept lining up over and over again it was such a good ride but it does feel like it goes for longer and I love that! 😊
It was designed to be low profile and less noisy because Luna Park Sydney had so many neighbours complaint headaches from the 2nd Big Dipper and they didn't want to repeat the costly controversy from when they previously installed a major coaster.
I actually found out about this after walking home, thinking a Raptor would be great at one of the other Australian parks, then I see your first video about it’s announcement. It’s the nearest looping coaster to me
I rode 21 times a in one day and I remember they let me get back on after it finished. But that was also at the very end of the day. And on the sidewinder, I leaned forward to mutch with my hands up and practicly broke my back 😂
Right before you started talking about the shaking, that shot of the back of the seat in front of you had me thinking ‘wow, that seems like it shakes a lot’. 😂
its operations are excellent tho! from the restraints unlocking to next dispatch there were several times it was under 20 seconds. i was on sledgehammer and it cycled 6 times in the period of getting on, riding and getting off
I feel a big problem this model faces is their track design. It's less single rail, and more shrank down tubular track. The trains wheels run on those tiny side rail tubes wielded to the main rail. There is so little surface area for them to get a solid grip compared to RMC raptor track (thick running track sections that offer a flat surface). I feel this lack of traction is a cause for the shimmy. The trains simply don't have good enough grip on the track.
I rode Big Dipped in September 2023. I thought it was a fantastic ride. The rides I had were smooth and fast,it was shaky at spots, like any normal coaster. Don't know when you went but I was allowed to stay on if nobody was in my lane. Once I got to ride 3 times in a row..It is a family coaster, I give it a rating of 9. Big Dipped was fast and very fun for me.
Seems kind of gimmicky to me. The “single rail” aspect is kind of phony since you can clearly see that it’s just normal track with solid cross ties. The benefits of an RMC single rail, specifically the tighter turn radius, aren’t even used in the layout. I have no doubt that it’s a decent ride, but I hate how gimmicky it is.
Intamins 'single rail' looks like it's actually *two rails* closer together covered (w plastic?) to look like one rail. You can see them as it goes over the course.
Im trying to find the history of when people started putting their hands up on coasters. Seems like it would make a great video as no one has covered this topic. What was the 1st coster when people started to put thier hands up? I love watching your videos, keep up the good work.
i think we can all thank phantasialand for requesting these trains kinda, as far as i know phl wanted some special traints that fit the coaster better, and then intamin came out with this magnus opus of an train and restraint
I have ridden this 14 times. The shaking is bad but I think you are slightly over reacting. There is one point where it snaps my neck just before you go into the breaks which then smash your head. It’s still a good tide
4:40 Like I always say, that's totally an inversion. Just a marketing gimmick to call it a non inverting loop. I just don't see how it's not. Looks like a great ride. It's also only a borderline single rail coaster to me. Like, if the different between normal track and single rail is just using a plate instead of singular ties, just feels irrelevant and pointless. RMC single rail is at least a single box track. This is just normal track with a plate spanning between the rails.
I love how it’s a TIRE launch. Low-tech, cheap, less downtime, easy to service, and gets the job done 😂

This looks like a pretty decent single rail coaster
Yeah
It’s really short, but still great
Omg I went on it today, it’s great

Hmmm.... Hopefully Hollywood Drift won't have that as well.
Maybe this explains why RMC raptor train runs smoothly. The seats are literally right on the track, near the center of the weight.

Thanks for coming all that way , and climbing all the stairs to try a down under coaster.

A good take for a much less intense single rail coaster, I think that's what they were trying to go for.
Big Dipper is at my home park. She is surprisingly whippy for what she is! I didn't expect the tire launch to be that intense!
Kings Island is my home park and a single rail is what I want in the vortex plot.
When they gave these things switch-tracks and twisted spikes !!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are going to be bad ass 😼
This is my favourite coaster (I’ve only been to Australian theme parks)

@@wickedsickfunkyfreshroller2037 so your attempt was to insult me?
Luna park sydney is my home park and big dipper is in a small plot of land that it is the only big rollercoaster they could fit in

This model would be an excellent fit at smaller parks, like waldameer

They should add this to magic mountains wonder wolman
wtf
Roughness, whatever. It's Intamin, so I'll still love it.

6:43 this is how the RMC raptors run at normal speed
EDIT: 7:07 S&S compressed air launches
we NEED one of these in vegas 👍
Awesome ride
I do really want to ride this someday
Sweet ride
I like how the track looks on these
the operator when I went on it let me go on it 3 times in a row lol
i probably wouldn't go to sydney to ride it, but it looks kinda fun
Luna Park is my local park so i ride bug dipper all the time
I wonder why Intamin still hasn't figured out the shakiness on their rides yet.
I hope wallabies is longer
My friend who lives near there has said exactly the same thing about this coaster.
Nice video! Also, what's the difference between an immelmann loop and a sidewinder?
It's interesting how rough it it considered the RMC Raptors are glass smooth.
Probably because it’s a prototype I would hope that’s the reason
The RMC raptors are NOT glass smooth. I rode Jersey Devil and thought it was pretty bumpy
Yikes all of those stairs
Haven’t ridden this yet but I’m curious if RMC will have trains like these in the future for the raptors
umm btw when i went to the big dipper on a rlly busy day i got there first with my brothers and we got to ride it 4 time sin a row without re queing
I’ve been on this
By accident
I thought it was a swing type ride 😂😂😂😂
Day 5 of asking for top 50 coasters
literally the best single rail
Gud ride
Brand new coast giving you a headache. Can intamin get anything right?

It’s a damn family coaster it ain’t supposed to rip your head off!!
I rode it last November. It was really not enjoyable, I was disappointed. The rattle is just so much.
I think entermanns makes donuts not single rail products.
Nobody
Bgw's single rail:
i like it but then again its the only 'thrilling '" ride in sydney
How did they get permission for that so close to residential buildings? 🙈
Luna Park opened in 1935. When people purchased those recently built apartments they knew what they were getting into.
i feel like this is one of the most dead average looking rides out there. some things that it's good at, and just as many things that it's bad at
