Thank you for discussing the difference in how the hair can feel in different climates/seasons and even indoors vs outdoors! I have always experienced this during my natural hair journey but never heard anyone talk about this phenomenon so for a long time, I thought I was the only one.

So glad to find your channel. I love the analogy of cotton. I always say that my hair is cottony. By that I don't just mean it the way you're referring to the softness, but also my curl pattern is about as random as cotton. That's why I don't really do WnGs, because I don't really want to rock an afro. I love your descriptions of how your experience of your hair texture changes based on so many factors. Thanks for this video.

I’m happy you enjoy the channel! My pattern is very random as well. Certain styling techniques and hair maintenance help me group my strands to form defined curls. And YES so many factors can impact how hair shows up. Welcome to the channel again!

I LOVE this video because you dropped soooo many nuggets regarding learning the basics about our hair. There are a lot of videos that start and end with how to style hair and not how to understand your hair. That part is glossed over and we need to know the BASICS e.g. wash, condish and let you hair air dry and hence feel your REAL hair! I feel we just start slathering products on our hair, thinking about the end game and then start bad mouthing our “dry hair” not realizing that what we are doing are things that are incompatible with what our hair can do! This is me, but I’m still in the learning curve after 2 years. It takes a while to undo bad habits and misinformation.
Thank you so much for always being there to explain how to take care of natural hair. I’m on the road to recovery and LOVING my hair😂🥰

Thanks for the compliments Michelle! I'm happy that me sharing how I began to understand hair care basics was helpful to you. I believe I first heard A Love 4 Me here on UA-cam say wash, condish, and air dry to get to know your true hair texture. Thanks for watching!

Hey thanks for sharing I’m curious to know how you treat your hair with you having hard water? Currently trying to incorporate some techniques to combat the water here in fl. Thank you

Hi! I use a chelating shampoo at least once a quarter. Chelating shampoo removes hard water build up.

Do you have fine hair strands? Is this why you cleanse 4 to 5 days rather than every 7? Has your hair been retaining moisture (water) this way?

Hello Emmy! I have coarse or large hair strands for the most part. I cleanse my hair every 4 to 5 days because I have a sensitive scalp that needs to be cleansed more often and there is an added benefit that I'm washing my hair or replenishing the water in my hair before it ever has the opportunity to dry out. Let me know if this explains things 🥰

@@FoAdunni Okay this makes sense then. My hair is fine and I've been told that washing my hair 4 to 5 days, like yourself, would be helpful in preventing tangles/knots. I was a bit apprehensive to do so bc of my hair being so fragile. I don't want the washing to overcleanse my hair or cause unnecessary breakage. But I would like for my hair to hold onto water better.

@@emmylewis2164 I definitely understand your concerns. It may help to start with a gentle cleanser and conditioner that is nice and slippery.
