I noticed nothing mention about price.. Defender MSRP 29900.. Ranger XD MSRP 45000.. That in itself is beyond ridiculous. And what do you get for an extra 15k. 1 inch of extra ground clearance. Can change the air from your face to your feet. A power port in the bed. A slightly bigger bed. 1000lbs extra tow capacity and 500 extra payload. And a few other things that in my opinion dont justify an extra 15k. For that kind of money i can buy a small 4x4 pickup, put a 6 inch lift on it with some good AT tires and have WAY more towing more payload more comfortable and be able to drive it down the highway. It is a nice rig no doubt but way over priced.
You took the words right out of my mouth. This not a good comparison. My defender still rocking the same belt at 4,600 km. On 32” xtr 370 tire. Same a-arm bushings also. !!! Drove hard but well maintained
I only have 500 k on them so far running 11 lbs rides better than expected. No vibrations (after proper camber and alignment) Great sidewall bite corners way better than stock bighorns just a little heavier tire. All in I really like them.
I have done extensive maintenance on can am and Polaris machines. A former trade that I did for many years I was a master mechanic. This youngster talking about packages is all fine and dandy. One thing he is not talking about is the huge price difference between the two. Polaris $45000 really. My experience the Can am products at least in the mountains of Wyoming hold up far superior to Polaris cheap mostly Chinese parts. If you buy Polaris you are buying a very high cost in maintenance. I for one am finished with Polaris.
I deliver a lot of Polaris side by sides around the southeast. Motor sports places. Everytime I deliver I ask the mechanics there which of the two are better and the say exactly the same thing. The cam am Is better the Polaris will have high maintenance issues. Personally I like the cam am. It definitely more roomy. I’m 6-4 230. Even the back seats in the cam am is comfortable. The Polaris it ok barely.
It’s definitely not a fair comparison and a big difference in the price a fair comparison would be a full enclosed cab Ranger Limited, or whatever you call it not the new 1500 which is a very expensive machine. A true comparison would be your lower version and not the 1500. Thank you.
@@ML-bf7vwI mean sure but what good is a jeep to me? When ATVs are the only thing allowed in the trails in Newfoundland. Law was passed few year ago banning trucks etc in trails.
When I got into the powersports industry about 20 years ago, never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined I'd need to do HVAC training. Crazy how far things have come. As far as sales go, I can't speak to can am, but at my dealership, all our 1500's, xpeditions, and high end 1000 rangers are either pre-sold or are sold within a few days of being on display. I wish I had the money for one, but I'm just a tech lol
I will keep my polaris northstar ultimate and when that takes a shit I will buy a jeep gladiator polaris is pricing itself out of the market I have owned 6 polaris rangers and the one I have now is the last one period.
for 15k more you get an inch ground clearance a few more electronics. Noticed how he never mentioned the price. 30k vs 45k. And the Can Am wont spend 6 months a year in the shop like Polaris will.
The price of all of these things is crazy. They are priced at truck prices. With no accident crumple zones on trun signals horn side impact bars 75 mph cruise speed ect. If your going to price this high you better start adding some stuff.
I would like to know about reliability. I own a 2020 Polaris Ranger 1000 and It is so reliable that I drive it amlost every day and have never had to have it repaired. I just do routine maintenance. No one talks about reliability!!!
You can tell you are very partial toward Polaris 😂, but everyone has there favorites, I’ve owned 1000 ranger xp crew( bought from y’all) and defender lone star crew, both have there pluses, ranger turns a lot tighter, dash is a little nicer, love the gauges, defender alot smoother, led headlight is a easy 50 dollar fix, seats are beautiful, mine has alot more ground clearance than ranger, machine is more comfortable than ranger, ranger does have better 4wd system, hate the visco lock on defender, I do love the climate control single knob on defender, my 2 cents, like both machines
I own a 2019 Ranger XP 1000 Northstar with tracks for the winter. I use it up northern Alberta for work. I have never blown a belt, have changed out 2 for wear. Running tracks in deep snow is a big load on the CVT. I have had multiple clutch problems with it, some where recalls, a couple I had to pay for. Wheel Bearings now have all been changed. 1 rear axle was changed as it was making funny noises in the rear end. The Bushings in the mounts from sub frame to main frame have worn out 3 times. Just changed out the O2 sensor when it wouldn't start last week. In hind site, I should have bought extended warranty. I will be buying another brand next year or the year after. Maybe the new Kawasaki or I would like a Honda if they made a nice cab like Cam Am and Polaris. I work with guys running Defenders on tracks in the winter also. They have there issues too. The Defender does start at -38 C, Ranger is done at -32 C . I previously owned a 2009 Rhino Sport 700. Never used it in the winter due to no enclosed cab, but it was a great machine for 10 years, only replaced battery once, and did the wheel bearing and tie rod ends in year 10. Great machine but the engine noise drove me crazy. Polaris needs to pull their head out of there ass on the pricing of the new 1500, it is Ridiculous.
I just got eyes in the new Kawasaki. It’s a great looking machine. Things I liked. Rear hitch at level with box for easier hitch up. Nice seats. Control knobs for for hvac seemed good. Nice sounding engine. It purrred. Kawasaki quality. Normal doors not suicide which is dumb why other manufacturers do it I have no idea, front locking diff, Led headlights. . Don’t likes. No turf mode. Dinky tires. The rear tailgate felt flimsy both opening and closing. No pop out front window for more air flow. Lack of storage. Like basically none. No winch Canada model and no gps Canada model at same price point. So now I’m back looking at the canam. Moving to alberta soon. I do have a Polaris and I’m keeping that. The Polaris ranger asks a premium for stuff the canam has for 3k lower. But ranger is a bit smaller. I really wanted the Kawasaki but it fell short and to outfit it I basically should buy the Polaris North Star then.
I have a 2024 Canam Defender, and I'll take it over a POLARIS any day! He forgot to mention the 2 USB's in the compartment in front of the driver, as well as the shorter turning radius of the Defender. I have owned 3 polaris vehicles, and both of them were NOT RELIABLE!
I have a defender hd10. Blower head gaskets once then way pump went. About $4,000.00 in repairs so far. Supposedly some factory hose clamps leak and starts this process. Thanks can am..
Not really a fair comparison for the money. Both machines look fantastic, but you need to compare on price point. How about the Polaris compared with the Nissan Frontier, Honda Ridgeline or Toyota Tacoma as they are all in the same price range depending on trim level?
In our town that was mainly Polaris you can’t throw a rock between the can am that are there now to many complaints on the polaris parts and price wise and reliability.
Above the drivers dash display the cover lifts up for USB ports and phone holder and I do believe a 12 volt power plug also. I just got a can am defender H9 2023 base price was 19,900. Add the other sealed cab parts, windshield, doors, blinkers, back window. Heater and other stuff to it and price goes to 32 k this doesn't include the pod lights, stereo backup lights, and other features as a pavement queen wants in her UTV ( my wife) for trail, road and farm use. If you add all the extras up the price is ridiculously stupid. She could have just jacked up a small pickup truck. I said it when I bought it at the dealership and will say it again Can Am your paying for the name. Ironically I have a Honda 700-4 2020 and am thinking about upgrading it to the Ranger. Or a Ginda 1000-4 good thing both dealerships are within a few miles of each other
Why would you be comparing a 1500 Ranger to a 1000 Defender??? Apples to Oranges! I guess you were scared to compare all of the shortcomings of the 1000 Ranger to the superior HD 10 Defender. If you are going to perform comparisons in the future I suggest that you use comparable machines. Otherwise, what’s the point!!! What a waste of time watching this!
I looked at both machines today. I’ve owned 2 can am defender max limiteds and a Polaris crew max. I loved all the machines. Never had any trouble from any of them. This new 1500 is pretty special though. Everything feels better built on it from the can am. The doors feel much sturdier, they actually lock. What in the hell is can am thinking about not having locking doors? Are they stupid? Also, can am has missed the mark on the navigation display. How outdated are they? Polaris is changing the game and I guess Can am is living in the past.
Another thing to add about the defender, this shift very poorly, the strength it takes to make them shift at different times is absolutely ridiculous, this is not a one off either, I work for a company that has and rents a large # of these units for work, hundreds of shift cables busted, as well as the steel bracket in behind bent, zero parts available to fix for months at times, they are a piece of sh.., door cable/stopper for the door when it opens is very light cable, when this breaks and it will, the door will over travel and bend the hinges and the door will not close. sometimes its out 2-3 inches where the latch is, you will have to take the door off and bend the hinges back and reinstall the door and realign. Very poor door latch system, I've had the door open just driving, this will bust the cable and your hinges are bent again. Put a heavy gauge piece of cable for the door stop. The amount of body and cage flex is unreal, the creaks and groans is pathetic for what their asking price is. Junk
“The Can-Am still does have the CVT transmission.” So does the Polaris, they just took away neutral and the ease of service of a belt for $15,000 more. Buy a Honda if you don’t want a CVT.
Do miss the Polaris Victory Brand Motorcycles. For these prices I'd take a dirt bike. Be interesting to see how pure BEV especially from Tesla starts to impact all of this ICE Platform effort. Kubota still rules to work segment but as for play USA versus Canada definitely game on absolutely.

Yeah prices are a big deal…. I’ll keep my CFMoto Uforce XL spend some one the accessories, build it to how I want it and buy a trailer and still be $5-8k less than the Defender (that has the same specs), or $20-25k less that the 1500 (I would rather buy a Jeep) But to each their own
My 2017 Polaris has so many issues it’s a joke. I’m afraid to ride it very far from home. I’ll never own another Polaris - too many low quality Chinese parts.
This shouldn't really even be a comparison since these aren't even same class machines. Compare the can am to the ranger 1000 would be a much better video. Might as well buy a Rubicon when you start looking at these new Polaris machines, probably cheaper, and more durable. 50k for a sxs is absolutely insane. Even 30k for a defender or ranger 1000 is ridiculous, but im still gonna buy one probably 😂
My man. My man. V twin motor that can am puts in there 4x4 quads. Compared to a 1500cc motor and a automotive style cvt with a steel ribbed belt (like in Nissan cars and etc). Come on now lol. That’s not to fair now lol.
My dealer carries brands and I looked at them over the weekend, the Polaris has a much quieter and sealed cab, the doors close tight and they also lock. The can am doors did not fit tight rattled and don’t lock. I did not like how far forward the can am doors open it’s like you had to step back and around to get in after you open the door. I’m sure Kenny is a more reliable machine but the Polaris seems to be a better design cab for hvac. If I wasn’t concerned with a COI would definitely probably go with the Can-Am.
Can am hasn’t came out with their new buggy yet.. kind of unfair.. need to compare 1000 to 1000 … can am way more comfortable.. but the touch screen and ride command is the only thing better that Polaris has..
Tech specs. .... price..... and look... im sorry but when i buy a vehicle even utility vehicle it cannot be UGLY... i have to like it, or at least it must be decent looking.... Polaris is ridiculous on price and looking.... Defender just look good, good price, good reliability.... i go for CANAM
Polaris is junk! I handled UTV/ATV acquisitions for a federal agency. We purchased Polaris equipment on numerous occasions and they were always junk. Terrible transmissions, clutches, engines, ergonomics, brakes, wheel bearings, and service, ect. We used our machines very harshly and we would only get a month or two of use from anything Polaris before they fell apart and needed major repairs. Can-Am, Honda, Yamaha, Yanmar, Kawasaki, were all other brands that held up better than Polaris. I hope they have improved their quality but I know for years they were trash. I don’t have a favorite brand, nor do I advocate for a particular brand. I purchased a defender Lone Star in 2020 and it has been great but would have gone Viking had it not been for the amazing deal I was offered. Good luck and happy trails!
You're so full of crap. I was new to the market and bought Polaris atv and a General 4 seat XP deluxe yadda yadda. Both have given me zero problems hundreds of hours and thousand plus miles. Guess I just got luck huh? Yeah right.

A video well done. Thank you, Sir. Very informative! I’d probably buy the Polaris.
45k for a pos Polaris, that's ok.
This is like comparing a pinto to a Lincoln!
I agree. This video would make sense when canam comes out this a comparison.
More like comparing a Lincoln to a Land Rover.
All these things cost at least twice what they should. Rip off.
In Canada the ranger xd msrp is 54k 🤮 that’s ridiculous !!!
Not even comparable, The Defender 1000 limited is comparable to a Ranger xp1000 Northstar
I want inside decibel readings at cruising trail speed. I’m sick of my ears ringing and yelling to talk to my copilot.
Both rock
They are getting ridiculous with the price on these ATVs and UTVs hell like someone else said you find a nice use 4x4 for the money they're asking.
That Polaris will overheat going up hills and stall, it’s scary. Stay with the Canam
Two different vehicles. Defender is more comparable (but better) than the Northstar
This guy is a freaking goof ball.
Can am hasn’t came out with their new buggy yet.. kind of unfair.. need to compare 1000 to 1000 … can am way more comfortable.. but the touch screen and ride command is the only thing better that Polaris has..
Polaris is too sketchy for me to consider buying. I've seen way too many serious malfunctions from Polaris brand to trust them.
If it is reliability you are looking for, just buy a Honda.
Tech specs. .... price..... and look... im sorry but when i buy a vehicle even utility vehicle it cannot be UGLY... i have to like it, or at least it must be decent looking....
Yeah right.
Lol, you forgot to leave your disclaimer. Let me help you! His comment was paid for by Polaris, but doesn’t necessarily reflect the views of Polaris or its partners.

Look I don’t care what name it has on it, if it had Ching Ding on the side I would support it if it was well built. You tested 1 congratulations, I have tested hundreds over the last 35 years. Your experience may be due to the conditions you operate in. A pavement princess that is well kept compared to one that is run hard makes a huge difference. I am not being a jerk either, heck PM me and come out to my ranch and see for yourself.
@@joet1669 Saying something is junk is not a result of testing, it's just an opinion of someone who has had trouble in the past.Tests have results, So please share them. Otherwise junk is just an opinion. I take care of mine because its a huge investment, But I have wrung it out that being said I don't jump the dam thing because I have grown up in that sense.
Better add some $ and get the ranger raptor 2024😂😂😂
He is so biased he loves everything about Polaris and hated can am and the 15k price difference
Done with Polaris high prices.do not buy polaris
Bogus comparison. Should have compared the Can-Am Defender Limited to a RANGER XP 1000 NORTHSTAR EDITION ULTIMATE
not even a close comparison
Polaris is pure Junk.
Count how many time this dude says "Guys" I lost count and had to turn it off GUYS! Learn how to talk if you're going to talk guys, guys, guys!!!!!
Took a non competitive vehicle and compared poorly. Comparable to Polaris 1000 North Star and the defender mops the floor with it. Never once mention price either. Poor excuse of a video for comparison
Typical Polaris dealer shitting all over their competitors Pretty ridiculous even doing a video. Not talking about anything positive about the can am even though it's a better product.
For the price I would by a Jeep.
Clearly biased useless info
