  • It has been eight weeks since I had open inguinal hernia repair of my failed robotic hernia procedure. What a voyage - I hope this is the last time.

==> Thanks for sharing the good news, Dr. Dave! For what it's worth, if I were in your shoes, I'd avoid interval training for the next several months. ... Wishing you and yours warm and sparkly holidays! . . . .

I'm doing fine in first week so far. Please keep us informed. I'm also concerned about it happening again. Thank you so much.

Happy Holidays to you too, doc. I'd like to see an update at 6 months, and especially the 1 year mark. Nerves take a long time to heal as you know, so I agree with the commentor about avoiding interval training for the next several months. You don't want to anger the mesh and cause worse problems for yourself. Thanks for the update, nice to know you are feeling better after this surgery.👍

Hello. I truly believe no one here would ever be tired of too many Hernia videos: it is the only common and unintentional/unlooked for injury where an inside body part rips through in such a very scary way. Keep them coming. Any and all information is no wasted time for us.

Totally agree biking sounds pretty intense in first few months. I had a repair 7 months ago.

Thanks Dr. Dave! Who was the surgeon who did the open hernia surgery????? Have a merry Christmas!

I found a surgeon in my city who only does open inguinal hernias. I wish I had done that initially. I think that really makes a big difference. Merry Christmas to you too.

Thank you Dr Dave for your videos! Much appreciated. Can I ask about mesh? did they remove the initial one and placed a new one? I will have my op in Jan and terrified of mesh complications as there are far too many 😥
    Merry Christmas Keep well

The original mesh had actually herniated into the inguinal canal. The surgeon removed what he could and then rebuilt my inguinal canal with three new pieces of mesh. It was quite a procedure. Merry Christmas to you as well mirkibirki.

Thanks Dr dave !! I just asked yesterday for you to drop the video and today i checked and its already done!! Awesome your experience im this issue help hundreds if not thousands of people going through the same thing. One question do you gave any burning or discomfort in the area?? Do you have any problems lifting objects 15 pounds or more? Thank you. Merry Christmas to you as well

There is still occasional minor burning but it is dramatically better than four weeks ago. As for lifting objects 15 pounds or more - I am trying not to lift too much right now. Anytime I have something that I consider heavy I get assistance. I appreciate your comments - Merry Christmas.

Im into week 3 with which seems like pinching or very sensitive around the scar. Did you happen to feel a little discomfort or tenderness? Hope your doing well.

I am just over 4 months post op on a plug and patch repair, and just getting over the discomfort that persisted the first few months. It seems a durable repair, which is what I guess Dr. Lichtenstein had in mind when he developed the procedure. I've been careful not to overexert myself.
