100% agree with this statement (im on episode 6)
As someone who has read both the books and watched the tv show, I will say that season 1 is pretty cringe (most of the time) but by season 2 the actors start to grasp their characters more and the acting, script, and even the cinematography gets so much better. I hope you stick with it because the show does get better even when they go off tangent from the books
Also, a lot of people really don't like season 1, so it's kinda refreshing to see you saying that the pilot isn't that bad!

In my opinion, for season 1, episode 4 is where it picked up slightly. But it wasn't great till 1x12 and then season 2...

Although everyone says season 1 was terrible - it wasn’t that bad 😂 like it was low quality in effects, writing and acting from few individuals in S1 but still not that bad as people make it out to be. Although season 2 does make it feel so weak as they stepped up everything from the cinematography to the acting 😂 Legit couldn’t wait for your reactions so I signed up on patreon to get them early! ♥️
ohhh, here we go! I haven’t really watched your reactions before but watching shadowhunters reactions is my guilty pleasure, so I’m here and ready for that epic journey. I know you love Izzy and tbh it’s so sad that she has no real storyline in season 1, but thankfully she gets one in season 2. Anddd I hope that Magnus has grown on you since you’re already on episode 6, he’s the most delightful character to explore, but more of that also in season 2 😝 Bet you’ve heard it already but season 2 is on a totally different level; less cringy and and just so good.

The Shadowhunters have magical Runes on their skin that cloaks them from normal humans seeing them, only other Shadowhunters and supernatural beings can see them.
Not gonna lie the reason I continued is because I love the books but with season 2 I was not disappointed the budget and writing is definitely better

Fun facts: The water demon was a fairy in the book, Dot is an old lady. And Clary actually killed that shapeshifter and I'm still bitter that they changed it to Jace killing it.

I'm the odd one out in the comments, I prefer S1 in many ways over S2. So I'd keep an open mind over whether it is better or not. The acting is though, I will give everyone that but for me the change in showrunners didn't improve the show in a better way.

Yeah exactly 💯, I dropped watching 99% of shadowhunters reactions just because reactors stop being real and honest after they read commet section 🙄Big role that fandom plays it and I hate it,because you could see that they are honest first few episodes about liking some characters and then reactions change and shift completely.I loved shadowhunters and honestly all characters and all couples but non of them were flawless,I didn't read the books and I didn't judge characters based on what I saw on social media or comments,I always tried to look every side of the story and understand where are they coming from.What I liked in his reactions is that he didn't hate some characters fandom did and he give a equal screen/reaction time to every character in his edited reactions, not like the others who focus so much on the fandom favorites so they completely miss the point and the story of the episodes because after all they all played important part of the storyline.Like I said show was great but most of reaction were unwatchable because fandom was toxic and there is maybe one more reactor besides Joe who was objective and not byast.

I would really recommend the Netflix series DARK to react to! Or check it out in you freetime when you have time or anything. I think there are a lot of shows on your list, but it's an amzing show, so I wanted to say it. :)
It has been some years now but I just wanted to say that Shadowhunters wasn't necessarily bad but I think it could've been great if they had just followed their source material, oh well it's done now, it's just a shame that something with so much history and potential isn't faithfully translated into television 😔🤷🏻♀️

I didn't read the books but I heard so much about them, I watched the movie though and it was much different from the show, they ruined Clary's and Jace's characters,I like them and the show in general when I looked past all the cringe moments, only thing they got right was Alec/Magnus arc and that was great but also shouldn't happened so fast right?
@@Alona2811 I don't know what happened after season 2 (tbh I don't even remember what happened in season 2) but yeah, Alex/Magnus happened way too fast. I'm happy a lot of LGBTQ+ people enjoyed them, though. And I'm stoked they included Raphael's sexuality (as an asexual myself).
I was expecting Reign, got Shadowhunter, ngl I'm disappointed
