I have zooming on my list as I find it particularly awkward as I use a pen & tablet (no mouse). At the moment horizontal zoom is only available with mouse wheel. Vertical zoom would be useful too!
Sorry. Just realised I meant vertical zoom. I can get horizontal zoom with mouse wheel + Ctrl. But no typical combination of keys & mouse wheel will give me vertical zoom.
- *My #1 wish* would be that we got the option to give each different note a different color. So for example make all C notes appear red, all D notes appear blue (for example). Most Music production applications like Cubase have this option and it's an _insanely_ useful option, since it makes us instantly see which notes we are dealing with without constantly having to look at the piano on the left on the screen to identify which note we are dealing with. I can also often see if we are out scale if there is a color there that is not in the other melodies or chords. Of course this should be optional, as not everyone may want colors. Also, my prefence would be that these colors could be customized, as every music production application has different colors and this way it would be so helpful if we were able to make it consistant. - *My #2 wish* would be to have the option to copy notes by holding alt and then dragging them somewhere else, just like the way it works in most music production applications. However, I agree with most other points you made. - I absolutely agree about the transport/control thing disspearing issue. Indeed, there is only a disadvantage in it disappearing as the space is not used by anything. At least give us the option to _not_ let it dissapear in the options or preferences. - I also absolutely agree with the hovering explanation. Most software explains what buttons do in a similar manner, so it would be really helpful for new users as well as increase consistancy with other software that people have gotten used to.
Mark you hit on a lot of great improvements, thanks for making this video. In addition to the tool tips for the transport, keyboard commands for the same functions on the click transport. That way we don't have to constantly click on the mouse.
everything you said made so much sense, specifically the coloring of each singers' notes and the keyscale thingy its insane how good your video looks and how EASY OUR LIVES WOULD BE W THOSE FEATURES
Thanks for all your effort to make this visible in a video. SynthV is great, but this program has so much potential for improvements. I wonder how much the program will change in the coming year, as the current AI revolution offers so many possibilities.
Yes to all of these, and especially idea 3 - I seem to spend the majority of my time duplicating tracks and constructing harmonies, and the combination of a selectable scale and improved colour handling would make this much less painful, especially when you have 15 nearly identical variations of a track you are working on. Thanks for the video!
Great suggestions! One further build on the scale feature… if we’ve gone to all the trouble of nominating a scale, why not (optionally) automatically adjust the notes to fit… would be a great timesaver for harmonies where you just want to drag them up a third and not have to correct all the “grey” notes as you have them.
My BIG wish is when you copy and paste that the Pitch & Vibrato settings pastes the same as the original! Wish #2, have the Pitch & Vibrato sliders always work on a selected note (or at least an explanation on what needs to be set to make them work - I know I’m not the only one) Gianni❤
The "pitch & vibrato" sliders only work when the note has been switched to "Manual". The copy/paste with "manual" notes doesn't seem to work between singers.
@@mixphantom0101 Thanks! I also noticed that there isn’t a ”Close Project” or “Close” dropdown in the File menu. You have to “Quit” and re launch to open a new project. That would be another usable update. 👍🏼 (Or is that something I missed too?) 🤔
There is a script that gives smooth scrolling with the vertical line in the center. I assigned it to P so it works ok-ish. But better if the spacebar did this. Cubase have a great piano roll. You can set a scale and snap midi notes to scale. Alt, you snap to chords using a chord track as input. You can also set note colors based on note is in scale or in chord etc. They just need to copy the Cubase way and it will be perfect.
also when adjusting pitches if you zoom in it boosts the gfx to max and causes serious frame drops, they need a simle low gfx mode so ppl with mid computers dont get frame drops when being zoomed in to adjust
I like the idea of highlighting keys in the piano roll, but rather than colouring the notes themselves, colour the backdrop. Just increase their saturation or something to highlight that yes, _this_ is the key you've selected.
Melodyne when editing multiple tracks has a separate button for showing and hiding the other notes on the piano roll, very handy. My biggest annoyance at the moment is with the vst, I can't seem to figure out how to turn of auto follow of the transport bar. I want to set a loop in my song and keep the vocal I'm working on right where it is but every time I stop and then start again the plugin skips around, you wouldn't happen to know how to fix this? Great video I hope the company takes up your ideas
1. You should be able to easily locate to any point by simply pressing period + numerical keypad number + period-keypad number again (for beat within bar) - and Enter. So for example, to go to measure 15 beat 3, you’d press: .15 .3 Enter. And if you just wanted to go to the first beat of the measure, skip the 2nd step, so in this case you’d press: .15 Enter. That’s how my DAW does it. It’s very simple and no mouse dragging or loop setting is needed. The current SV method requires pressing . (period), but instead of then pressing the measure number, you have to first use your mouse to get the cursor into the location where you enter the number. To make it even worse, you then have to get your cursor OUT of that entry location (e.g., by pressing the Tab key) in order to enable pressing Enter to complete the process. Or you could use the mouse again to press OK. All in all, what should be a 1-second simple process takes several steps in an awkwardly designed mess. 2. Selecting a note in the editor changes its shade, but so slightly that it’s hard to tell that it’s selected. It is way too easy to edit that note and not realize it is still selected when you start editing another note, and therefore also edit the first note unintentionally. There should be a much greater contrast between selected and unselected notes. Also, to avoid this issue in the first place, selecting the subsequent note for editing should automatically de-select the first note (unless you were holding down the shift key). 3. Maybe this exists and I haven’t found it yet, but like most DAWs, you should be able to select a location that the transport returns to after you stop playback. And it should stop there and wait until you start playback again. Looping doesn’t work for this. 4. Certain parts of songs, like choruses, get repeated a few times and usually include harmony parts on separate tracks. There should be an easier way to select all the vocal tracks of a chorus and copy and paste them together in their correct locations. If this already exists, please let me know.
There's a script to change track colors (google it - not sure if UA-cam allows links). I agree, it should be a program feature. But for now, the script is better than nothing!
My suggestion: an universal lingual voicebank that is understandable in every language (must not be free of any accent). Then the voicebank could also sing in my mother tongue. Best regards from Germany 🙂
I just purchased SV. I'm working on a song in Studio One that has numerous signature and tempo changes. Is it possible to get SV's vst3 to follow S1's tempo map? I've pressed every mystery button I could find with no luck. If this is not possible, then I would make it a wishlist item. Also, is there a manual for this thing? Thanks.
I doubt Synth V will follow tempo maps. Maybe if they made it and ARA2 extension. If I needed a Synth V vocal to follow a tempo map I would render it at the "average BPM" and then use the DAW to apply the tempo map to the vocal.
Not yet... I'm a believer in the "picture's worth a thousand words" approach - so a video must be worth ten thousand! 😉 The software is still new so workflow is the most important thing to get right as all new features will be built on top.
My #1 wish would be horizontal zoom.

Great list, and a heck of a good mock-up. Must have taken some work! Thanks for this.
I wish the notes has labels though its easier than staring at the piano roll just to check if im in the right note

Yep tot agree! Scales would be the first thing added though, its after all 2023 and ai we're dealing with here👍 Great vid!
Amazing! All of those things would be fantastic user experience improvements. Nice job!

bigger scroll bar
ALT+Drag to copy notes/selection (as in any daw).
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

Basic midi editor wish: When you click on a note or drag it, the note should sound, as the keyboard on the left does.

ARA support would be nice. It could be used like Melodyne in a DAW that supports ARA.

The low contrast is what personally kills me. Awesome software and I really hope the developers work with a UX designer.
Great list. Copy and paste from DAW piano roll , midi capture, unless these already exist. Thanks
Great video … also record ur vocal in it and lock a key so it record only in this key 🙏
My number one request would be more soulful voices.

Good to know, but I'm not a fan of scripts or other workarounds for basic features which should be "common sense" by now... it's 2023 not 1993! 😎
My suggestion: an universal lingual voicebank that is understandable in every language (must not be free of any accent). Then the voicebank could also sing in my mother tongue.

If Dreamtonics is watching, please note that I agree with all the suggestions made in this video!

You are absolutely right on every topic.
