- Decided to mix it up this morning and go to a body of water I’ve never been to. Had to fight traffic and get lost on the way BUT I would say all in all, things paid off and it was a really fun day on the water.

Greg, I hope you grasp just how big of an impact you have on complete strangers. I went from never even fishing from a kayak to fishing my first season competing in tournaments. Pretty much just from inspiration from your videos. I also try to keep the same mindset you display consistently! I know I'm not the only one, so thank you sir! Oh and hopefully I'll be fishing in the west coast championship on clear lake next year 🤘
True that!! Greg why would they plant trout in a Bass Lake? To give the Bass a food source and a fishing source? This is not the only lake you have found Trout and Bass in !!
Most people will never understand why we wake up at 3am on a Sunday morning, to go out in the cold, wet, dark wilderness... that shake of the hands is unlike anything else I've ever experienced! Side note, I've seen you kill it too many times with that a-rig, I'm giving it a go!
^Well said! I hope it never goes away
@@GregBlanchardFishing likewise my friend!
I love the icons you're using for your baits when you cast. I've never seen that before, nicely done.
Greg you the man. I don’t catch much when I’m out on the water but every time I watch your videos I feel like I’m right there with you!😂
Thank you sir!
I LOVE fishing like that....racing across the water after busting fish. I actually made a top 10 in a tourney earlier this year because i saw stuff going crazy out on main lake and I assumed they were striper, but they were spotted bass...and I spent the whole entire day chasing a school around. It would sound for a while, then 5 mins later they come up exploding on bait, id race over there, catch a few til they sounded again....just all day. I love that style of fishing.
Also in my experience fishing schools of striper or spots or white bass, whatever, I do much better on a shallow diving small crank, a little swimbait like largo shad on a ball head, etc. Ive come across it where they will not touch a topwater, or only the very small ones hit it; so now I try to get down a foot or more or down into the bait they are after.
Striper fishing a fun change of place! Good for you Greg, for catching what’s available, and putting the pieces of the puzzle together!
That shake will NEVER go away! Love it man!!! 🎣👊🏼🔥🔨
Great video as usual, love watching. Shout out to Jason! We grew up fishing together! I was surprised to see him mentioned on your channel!
It's always cool to go somewhere new and have success. 👍
Greg, love the new fisheries. And They're similar to stadiums. Especially we, who explore new lakes, in our new kayaks. Always an adventure, but you make it suspenseful. Love the learning content you bring us. Stay safe bro.. 🤟🎣🙏
Thanks man! love the feeling of a new body of water/place to explore
@@GregBlanchardFishing Greg, I'm in R.I. But now, with my Torqueedo and PDL DRIVE. ON Those freak 50 to 60 degree day's, now my baby can come out. My weakness, like many is definitely, Oct thru Feb. Tricky little bass just know where to hide. N.Y. Has much more bigger lakes, especially on the kayak. Can't wait for those up north vids. Be safe bro. 🤟🙏🎣
Glad to see you finally fish this particular lake. Largemouth and smallmouth there too. Wait for spring and go to the left from the launch in the spring… trust me. Big grass beds about 5-8 feet deep down there near the end.
What lake??
@@macgabe209 Del Valle
Can't help but smile watching videos like this.
I’m proud of you!! Not fishing a tourney and you remembered your net 😂
I'm learning 😂
I always enjoy hearing you walk through your on the water decisions. Good stuff, as always.
“Greg” so nice to see ur upload. Today’s gunna be a good day!
Oh del valle. Where I flipped my kayak the first time. That place has 5 Shimano rods somewhere on the bottom. Lol. 🤷🏾♂️
Much better feel this time for the "in between catches" times in this one GREG. Not unnoticed!
“That’s a keeper, our first keeper” Throws it back…..Two words, Striper Tacos!
Will definitely keep a few this winter when I'm better prepared!
Read my mind…
Just caught me a 20” fishing with a flying c for salmon, I’ve had tacos three nights in a row 😂
These videos are not only exciting but also relaxing.
LMAO!!!!!! That’s an everyday occurrence for us down in SoCal!!!! Know the feeling. At times it’s a bit unnerving. Especially when you see the pumpkin head in the car tailgating you, texting away without a care in the world. Yikes!!!
Nice place. Great video!!! Thanks
We need the coffee mugs 🍵 ☕️ to come back! I need one!
New body of water and finding schools of fish like that is a good day of fishing. Didn't know stripers are stocked on lakes. Awesome video.
Great video to start out the day of what looks to be a great body of water to fish! Tight lines!
Excited for every video and you make it easy to watch. Thanks again Greg
Watching those Stripers disappear when you threw the topwater made me chuckle. One of our lakes has tons of Hybrid Stripers. the first time I went there, before sunrise, they were going nuts. I threw a Spook in Bone (much like your bait), and they did the exact same thing to me. They'd blow up in an area, I'd paddle in, throw the Spook............. and nothing. They would totally clam up, like they did for you.
That looks fun. That's how I am catching bass right now in Illinois. Cool to see.
Man,.. this was fun to watch. Loving all your videos
If it is del Valle, those were accidentally introduced in the mid 70's when they had to pump water into the reservoir when it got real low. They now spawn in there and there are a lot of big ones on the bottom
It is.. They have huge trout in there too, plus the large and smallmouth. In the summer, you can catch the strippers when they're boiling on top..
@@BobbyOfEarth I used to fish there decades ago and have caught a lot of big trout from there. That little reservoir is one of the Bay Areas best kept secrets; especially the striper fishing.
It was really cool meeting you out there on the lake this video must have been from the day before when you were crushing striper hope to see you again out there sometime it is a very nice Reservoir to catch largemouth and Smallmouth out of tight lines buddy🎣
Did you watch the video of are home lake? Where he got one off the pipes. Called it lake X which I definitely appreciate
@@noelortiz3699 I don't think I did you know what the video was called so I can check it out and are we talking about the same Lake I live in Fremont
Nevermind I found it thanks don't remember seeing this one for some reason but that spot is the shit especially that same type of spot on the other Lake I've cauhgt monsters off as well... tight lines my friend
this is my home lake! let me know if you ever want to hop on my boat, would love to get you out there again! and catch some boils! its starting already always fun to fish there! CNR all day!
Awesome vid Greg! This is one of my fav spots to fish. The lake def holds some bigguns too!
Big sweeps Greg. Big sweeps.
Id not assume I can tell you anything you don't know, but Ive had stripers blowing up like that in my home lake. Had tons of success on shad pattern lipless crankbaits, burning them through a couple feet deep.
I was just going to type that you should have put on a Little George. They never fail when fish are hitting the bait up top. Just drop that down to them and bam! But right as I was fixing to type it, you put one on!! Good job
Nothing like fishing somewhere new! I was just at a new lake, Lake Burton in Georgia, where I got on some of my first spots. I’ve really been enjoying your videos recently, and I thought it might be cool to add some basics of the spot you’re in such as depth and water temperature when you catch a fish, similar to what you do with bait/time. As someone who’s trying to work on my fish finder skills, I thought it could be helpful to try to learn off your experiences. I know it might not be feasible, but I just was throwing it out there. Either way, I’ve been enjoying the content, and keep up the great videos and fishing.
Great video as always man! I love getting the shakes from knowing I'm about to tear them up or catch a big one!!!
It's a nice lake with plenty of fish to catch any season. Valle has just about every fish a lake can have. One issue....The COST!!! It's in my backyard but it's cheaper to drive and launch at the delta than pay for all their fees. Trout are planted in large quantities.
Great video. Been a while since last there. Costly with parking, launch, STRICKED boat inspection, me, 2 boys and a dog.🥺💰💰
Nice change of pace Greg, it looked awesome the background was beautiful. Fish tacos for dinner. Thanks again.
Love the video!!! I knew I recognized your kayak from a distance! I was the one who shouted out your name when you were getting in the water
Looks like a blast, and a much nicer day than your windy day last time.
I’m so proud of you for fishing the deeper water :) this is going to come in handy!!!!
That sure was a beautiful lake. Looks like good fishing too! Another great video thanks pal!👊
Nice! I haven’t been there in years, but this is one of my hometown lakes and was also one of my favorite hiking spots. Wondered when you would get around to fishing it. I’m surprised to see how much water is in the lake after the low levels across California this year. There’s been quite a few autumns where I could walk across that lake from swim beach to swim beach.
Good morning.. I live in Wisconsin and I believe you are in Cali… great videos by the way and thank you for your tips. But if I am not wrong I believe is 4 am in California.. enjoy the rest of your night . 😎👍
Dude that eat right at the Yak was dope! Great video Greg!
Just retired and I hadn't been fishing my entire law enforcement career...
Had to subscribe bcuz I need to find some yay area fishing spots...
Two decades on the job means I got a LOT of catching up to do with these doggone fish... Hahahahahaha
Looks like they have kept the water level up out there and plenty of structure. I’m sure you would have found the green backs eventually but striper is always fun when the bite is on. I might have to trip up to that lake this weekend. I recognize that spot.
Been waiting for you to tackle this body of water! I personally fish it a ton with a few friends, and wanted to see how we compare to the legendary GregB!
Fun day for sure! Beautiful lake too.
Good move changing to the larger swimbaits on the A-rig.
Rafa
That used to be my favorite lake! There are not only largemouth but also smallies! Go back farther back towards the dam! Fish 🌮🐠🌮! No in-n- out! Great day, Greg!
Care to give a hint on the name of the lake?
Love this lake to. Its where I caught my first bass
Sorry, don't want to spot burn!
@@skooks2641 del valle
That was the first place I fished when I moved here to the Bay Area. Caught my first trout there from the bank. Good size too, about 14" rainbow on a minnow.
On another note, give the A rig a few pops every once in awhile. It will flex together and separate. It will replicate a bait ball running in fear and trigger a bite.
Just bought about 5 of your spinner baits and a few jigs off the website. Looking forward to chucking those the next few weeks!
What website would that be?
What’s the website ?
@@touaevang he's sponsored by Barkley. But he also provides the baits he uses in the description.
That Jackal Deracoup is a sleeper, slays on my home pond as well, as usual great vid Greg, keep it up man!!
That place is beautiful. Awesome vid as always
Hey Greg great video as usual. I would like to get you to demonstrate the knot that I've seen you tie briefly. The knot is when it appears your free spinning your lure around your line or if anyone could send me to a site that demonstrates it.
Nice. Always fun hitting knew waters.
That is a good lake, only problem it’s a dead zone for cell phones. I guess it can be a good thing if you don’t want to be bothered. 😂
Awesome trip brother
Hi Greg, I learned all the knots this morning 😊 Thank you. How do you decide what line to run for instance, which rigs do your pline flouro, which do you pline braid? Obviously the punch is braid, frog is braid, your ultralight finesse is flouro… your basic rule of thumb? I have six ready to rig. 4 baitcaster, 2 spinning one of which is crappie ultra light. Thank you so much for helping me! 😊
Awesome video Greg!! Enjoyed it very much thank you!
Greg on the BIG SCREEN!!!
Caught my first bass and catfish at that lake when I was hella young. Great place to fish and camp. Pheeesh on!
What lake is it
Looks like del valle or lake chabot
Beautiful lake indeed!
Do you ever do a catch and cook?
Love that shake. Never gets old 😀
I've fished that lake a few times and done well on smallmouth. I didn't even know there were stripers in there. Weird.
A Big word of advice Greg. WHEN YOU GET A HIT ON A TAIL SPINNER YOU CANNOT STOP REELING AND FIDDLE WITH YOUR DRAG FOR THE FIRST PART OF THE FIGHT. SET YOUR DRAG HOW EVER YOU WANT AND USE YOUR THUMB WHEN 👍 THE FISH HITS TO PREVENT THE SPOOL FROM SLIPPING ON THE STRIKE. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE PRESSURE ON AS MUCH AS YOU CAN FOR THE FIRST FEW SECONDS. THE LURE IS LEAD AND WHEN THE FISH REALIZES IT HAS A HOOK HE WILL SHAKE HIS HEAD VIOLENTLY AND THE WEIGHT OF THE LURE ALOWS THE FISH TO GET FREE . KEEPING THE PRESSURE ON IS VERY IMPORTANT.
Swim jig Greg, swim jig my brother!! Haha
U need a whopper plopper, grassburner or buzz bait for when the stripes are busting. U get 1 every cast if u put it in front!
Love trying new water!
Stripper fest beat down from Mr.Blanchard !!!!!! 😎👍
Need to get you some 1oz chrome slabs for vertical jigging. They will fall faster than a spoon and trigger the stripers to bite. Good stuff man.
Love your videos Greg. I show my wife your kayak as a wishlist item. Keep it up!
That kayak is more expensive then a used 17ft Bass Tracker. I wouldn't know what to do with a kayak like this.
@@andrewboyce7268 I'd use it for sure. Only reason I want a kayak over a boat is im in Arizona and don't have space to properly store a boat. Also his kayak is a beaut
Del valle? Looks pretty smooth out in the channel you are in. Fun day Forsure
If you don't mind me asking what body of water are you at because I know new Hogan reservoir is full of stripers
Thx for taking us along. What area is this? Or lake?
Hey Greg: Experience the mystery Shaking in a new location. Good stuff. Sure looked fun.
In one of your videos could you do a in-depth explanation of what we are looking at on your finder? I understand the one view but the other ones I don't understand what I'm seeing. Just an idea. The landscape at this lake was amazing, beautiful rolling hills. Anyways great video as always!
Great editing. Keeping it interesting until the end.
im so sure u in my spot in livermore LOL.
BASS aren't easy in there. u should check the rocky side.
Greg go to spring lake or lake ralphine in Santa Rosa. The unofficial world record was caught in spring lake in march of 97’ and 9’s and 10’s are consistently caught there. Ralphine has monsters it’s the lake right next to spring lake but 100 years older
Very entertaining video!
😎🎣🎥👍
Those stripers were pulling that native Titan around! Would have been fun in my new slayer max 10! Way to figure those striper out! Good job tearing them up in lake you have never fished.
They have some really nice smallmouth in there too
Great video Greg. Enjoyed seeing you figure out a new lake. Keep up the awesome work.
great video! Keep it up Greg!
Great video!
You need to come to Corpus Christi Tx and I’ll put you on some speckled trout and redfish it truly is a great experience
Killed it for new body of water
Come down south just a bit further and fish the lakes around me !!!
Lake Del Valle sure has it's challenges.
You remembered your net
Good fish that bridge you have to drive over when going to Manteca Bass Pro shops
It's so fun to see you fight those stripers! My parents wouldn't understand why I let my fish go in bass tournaments LOL Please let us know the name of the lake; we'd like to visit it too 😊
Tell us how you breakdown a new body of water. I've been hitting new lakes too. Maybe a new series? Breaking down new bodies of water.
Goes to bank and throws various baits. LOL
Awesome video learn alot of tips and tricks on our the local fish react to your set ups keep the content going. You should try making a sturgeon video lol
Another great video! :) awesome catches too
do you like the berkley swimbait head over the matt allen swimbait head?
