- Norway has one of the longest and most beautiful coastlines in the world. On a bike, It's a long journey from Bergen to Lofoten or Tromsø to Kirkenes. Using Norway's famous Coastal Express Service is the ideal way to skip sections so you can cycle the most appealing parts. In this video, I'll show you what it's like to spend 24 hours on board and how practical the journey is for cyclists.

This might be the best "please subscribe" request I've seen on UA-cam.
I'm already subscribed but if I could subscribe again I would do. Love this channel.
Matthew, you are simply amazing. I think it is time that we Norwegians give you a Norwegian passport and make you an honorary citizen of our country. I am so incredibly impressed by what you are doing for Norway.
Thanks for your support :)
You have my husband and I in tears! We love Norway. We’ve been on a few of the Hurtigruten as port guests in Ålesund. And a few years back, when staying in Tromsø we went as foot passengers to Lofoton. Walked the decks all night as it was so magical!
We took the ship from Bergen to Stamsund 4 years ago. Rented a car and toured the Lofoten Islands then took the bus to Narvik, and train to Stockhom. Very memorable trip!
Fabulous as ever, no better ambassador for Norway.
Thank you so much. Now there's a cruise I would love to do! I look forward to more of your brilliant videos. Greetings from Devon.
Just found your channel can’t wait for the rest 🚴♂️👍
Than you are in for a treat... and some vacation planing?😗😀
for all Norwegians:Remember that NRK had made a minute by minute documentary of the live onboard😃Especially the tour from Bronnøysund to Kirkenes was awesome, with midsummeernight and all🤩
Excellent advice, thanks, had forgotten about that documentary.
(as a side note, they have some great footage of train journeys, too, especially the Bergen line to Oslo!)
@@Coffeepanda294 ...and don't forget that 9.5 days long documantary from Spitsbergen/Svalbard in 2020😃
That was a fantastic series to Svalbard!
Shoutout to Magne, started at 16, still going strong
Thank you Matthew, what an incredible beautiful views you showed us again. The Hurtigruten is one of a kind as we could see in youre video.
I agree, but also incredible beautiful views *Inside* the Hurtigruten ship I must say...
Once again you inspire me to visit Norway. Thanks for the tour!
That was so beautiful! Thank you Matthew for taking us on board. What a welcoming atmosphere on the ship! Would love to make it one day.
I did 2 seasons working on cruise ships on Norway (MSC Cruises). Indeed the most amazing coastline! Not to mention the Svalbard Islands. It was during the summer, so no Northern Lights, but a lot of Midnight Sun. Favourite port? Well, not really the port, but the entry from the sea to Tromso. Spectacular lights! I discovered Hurtigruten few years ago, and really dreaming to do once a full cruise up and down. Not that cheap, though 🙂
Did the round trip in February 2021, love winter in Norway
Matthew, Great Video as always.❤ Can’t wait for next season and engaging in your community. I’ve noticed that the music that you have put on top of the voice is a bit too loud from time to time. I’d recommend to check the mixing on a variety of speaker.
Thank you.
Always top quality content!
In Norway the Cities are built for people. That is so true 🇸🇯 Thank you for this wonderful video and greetings from Alta on my way to Nordkapp 🙋🏻♀️🗺️🏁
Awesome, safe travels!
@@matthewnorway Thank you, Matthew 🙏
A lovely video. Many thanks. I would say my favourite port is Trondheim. It has a lovely feel and the cathedral is a must see. Tromsø is lovely, although having Storgata being rebuilt when we were last there didn't help our visit. I also get the impression that it looks most magical in the winter with everything covered in snow. It was always lovely to see the Hurtigruten ships with their distinctive red and white colours.
That information fro the captain sucks about the historie:the founder and the 1.. ship called Richard With. The company was based in Stockmarkknes (Lofoten/ Vesterålen. You have a museum there today with one of the old ships as an exaple😀
I’ve never seen the appeal of a cruise, but a trip on the post boat does seem interesting. I’ve mainly visited Norway in winter but would be good to see more of the country
Well done, again! Love the channel.
Another premium video! Thnx

Brilliant!
Love your vids Matthew. Amazed you don't have more followers.
i'm unsure i've never cycled them in July but in general the roads around Hjørundfjorden are quiet.
I’d love to see those countries after watching my favourite rider Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig in the tour of Scandinavia
Thanks a lot for sharing such well made vlog about heaven❤. Stine the reception manager look like the young sister of amarican actress named Julia Stiles.
Okay, now I want a train with a jacuzzi.
Hurtigruten. I was surprised by the high prices and you must be lucky to book. No option for me.
Hurtigruten lost 1,3 billion kr so far this year. So I don´t think there will been cheaper tickets
@@eirikkristine oké, Hurtigruten has no business model. I booked a flight from Alta to Oslo as alternative. Very convenient and good service. Also train is a good alternative on certain trajects.
great video and great channel Matthew; i like the tips on gear as well. I was wondering, are you no longer riding your Grail, I was considering buying one myself and I believe i noticed you’re now using a different bike? (couldn’t quite make it out). Thanks for the great content.
Hi Peter, I have two bikes - road and gravel. This route was paved so I took my road bike. I use my Grail on many other trips. It's a great bike but it's not the best for bikepacking due to the lack of attachment options.
God I love this country.
Great pictures and.....a lot of selfies, why? Sorry.
