As a massive movie fan and a leading authority on cinema who's recently stopped watching most movies and series because I can't tolerate woke/radical feminism anymore. I personally enjoyed it but it could've done without the two obnoxious female hit women. I'm so jaded that anytime I see a woman appear in a movie these days I'm like HERE WE GO, here comes the smug, spiteful, unlikable and extremely misandrist STRONG women to ruin the fun. I understand they have to force them into everything and they weren't actually that bad in this but they left a bitter taste for most people and put people on edge that at any second we would get woke misery . Of course the younger one was the smartest, bestest and greatest and outsmarted all the men with a smug look of hateful obnoxious spite on her face as per usual but I could just about tolerate it. I watched the original Top Gun in 3D last night and I was shocked I could actually relax and just enjoy the story without THE MESSAGE being forced upon me. I have been so conditioned by Hollywood movies that at certain parts in the movie I was like HERE WE GO but then NOTHING happened it was just a fun film

Spoiler for Nanao's (Ladybug's) backstory: I recommend reading the original book, it's really good.
He was kidnapped at a young age because he was wearing his rich friends backpack and was held for ransom to the rich kids parents who blew it off because they still had their kid. The kidnappers then ransomed Nanao to his actual parents who are dirt poor and can't pay so Nanao had to escape on his own and succeeded and from there it has been an ever growing streak of bad luck.

On an older review I went into details why adapting from a non-visual medium and a bit under the radar IP may have helped them escape the typical pitfalls of Hollywood live-action anime. And a talented crew with real passion also goes a long way.
One thing I disagree with Drinker is the 'turn your brain off' part. Yyyup the plot and the physics of the action makes no sense and doesn't try to.
However untying the connections between the characters and trying to be a step ahead of the plot is great and engaging fun. Besides the character motivations and philosophies are great stuff. Not exceptionally deep but great conversation starter for a deeper talk with friends after the movie.

Borderline Personality Disorder (mentioned in the film) and Narcissist Personality Disorder are also the real reasons for the bad 'Woke' Hollywood movies, which promotes Female Narcissists.
It's the primary disorder of 'Woke' Female Narcissists essentially....from Meghan Markle to Jada Pinkett.
Whoever wrote this is well aware of the 'Woke Mind Virus', and the narcissist mindset which links all Woke elements. The Guardian has been called 'Narcissist Central', in Psychology, for over 30 years.
The message is very clever. These movie makers know the 'definition' of Woke, is Narcissism.

A fun movie based on a Japanese novel of the same name. The movie plot changed a lot of character and plot elements of course, but kept enough of the source material to still be recognizable. And as Japan was locked down due to the virus of unknown origin at the time of filming, it ended up being mostly filmed in Culver City. But still was warmly received when it debuted in Japan.

Watched it year ago in theater and liked it. Now I watched again on TV and loved it! This movie really growed on me second time.
