    I have a couple of succulents outside, close to the house...should I bring them in when it rains? Also, I know you have a video on succulent propagation, but I'll just ask here. If I have a leaf that I'm trying to propagate, is it bad if it starts to wither or get some spots on it?

    • @anniemeanie5575
      @anniemeanie5575 8 років тому

      I'm not a expert or anything, but from my experience, you should bring in your succulents when it rains so they don't get too much water. As for your succulent leaf propagation, they might be getting too much sun? I remember I put my leaves outside to propagate, and they started withering and dying. The spots might be cause it's sunburned.

      The plants I separated came apart easily by just gently roughing up the root ball and pulling them apart. I didn't have to cut or break anything- they just came apart! I love it when I find succulents in big containers- way bigger bang for your buck because you can break them into several smaller pieces instead of having to buy tons of smaller pots of them!

      My succulents were not in the sun they get enough light though. And I water them about 10 to 15 days. I had one in the bathroom one morning I saw it and it was dead on the soil. Don't know what I did wrong. Only my cacti n aloe survived. Thanks

    • @oneeyemonster3262
      @oneeyemonster3262 8 років тому

      Preet Pandher Some mine did that. It's from root rot. it happens mostly in ceramic pots. Plant needs oxygen. Ceramic absorb oxygen. Plus. Plus my soil was too thick or wasn't well draining. So the water basically sat in the soil to rot the root. Even if the soil dries out a couple days later...it's too late. Then whatever how long til the plants dies. It depends on your climate. Check the zone you're living in.
      I would personally never go more than 2-3 days without watering my plants. I used to never water my Aloe. jade, elephant plants, and catius They live...I wasn't into gardening until 6 months ago. I didn't take care of any plants.hahahaaa
      The non catius succulents require some attention.
      They're drought tolerance...Not Neglect tolerance.lmao
      I live in zone 11 the only reason why my plants live is because they're shaded and I have to baby them. Mid day sunlight would kill most of them.....
      Most of them arnt even heat tolerance
      Also check you PH level. It's more of a chemical reaction that your plant wlll absorb water.
