    A recovery mode will help you restore the software that is installed in your navigation device by connecting to MyDrive Connect whilst the device is in the recovery mode.

    I can also confirm this doesn't work. I've been trying for the past hour to recover a TomTom Pro 7350 and nothing, I still have the error.

    This worked for my tomtom Go 6000, the timing of the three presses does seem to be quite critical but eventually go this to work (after turning it on and off a number of times). From then on, reasonably plain sailing to recover my tomtom. Updates doe see to cause me no end of troubles though, I might forget trying to ever update it!.

    If your map updates time out (after reseting the unit successfully and deleting the corrupt map) - then I fixed this by going to someones house, which has a very fast internet connection and updated from there. Now my unit works perfectly

    Following these instructions sorted out my satnav fine, although it wasn't quite the same as this video. There was no 'spiral', but instead a set of gears and a toolbox was shown while it was rebooting, also it didn't come up with a map when it had sorted itself out (even though it was connected to the laptop for an hour.

      It's because it doesn't reach the reset point. It's totally frozen.

    Mine worked after I connected it to my pc and pressed the power button for 30 seconds..
    Works as normal. I love it. It turns my phone into a hands free device in my older SUV..

    Tried this after my 1005 had been unused for a couple of months. Unit has been on charge for 24 hours but nothing. Computer says the usb device has malfunctioned and when Ive held the on button for 30 seconds the power light flashes for a second and then goes back to steady orange colour. Looks like I’ve got a paperweight.

    lo que es evidente es que tom tom con las actualizaciones o con el tiempo hace que los GPS empiecen a fallar con el fin de que lo deseches y te compres otro, no es normal que un aparato que puede costar 400 €, en dos años empiece a fallar

    Estaba desesperado porque no me hacía caso cuando tocaba tres veces el botón en la parte de atrás de mi TomTom via 135 M Europa. Por suerte, encontré otro vídeo en Internet que decía que había que hacerlo muy rápido, en menos de 1 segundo. REPITO: Hay que tocar tres veces muy rápido, en menos de un segundo. Gracias a eso, pude reestablecer mi TomTom. Ahora a ver si funciona y no se congela ya cada poco como hacía antes, ya que a ratos se paraba varios segundos y la conducción iba por delante de lo que mostraba la pantalla

    I wish to update the lastest map (1090?) on to the in dash uconnect unit using a memory stick. The first two letters of my existing serial number are "SV". The car is a 2019 Fiat 500x. I can't seem to find the relevant directions. Help, anyone!

    Pro TRUCK 8275 doesnt go into fastboot mode, instead Im getting the update mode (sad smiley) which doesnt reset the device, instead just updating it. Any tips how else I can remove a display screen lock pattern?

      Hi there,
      The process is the same for both OS X and Windows - as long as you have a device that updates with MyDrive Connect, and you have MyDrive Connect installed and running when you connect your device.

    OK I have done all of this several times after consulting with tom tom. even after I get a message on my device saying all maps up to date. turn device off then on all I get is no maps found cannot solve it any suggestions

    Doesn't work, all I get is the red x attach tomtom to computer screen. No spinning wheel or gears etc. Been at it for hours.

    I'm having problems with my go500. I do a reset and it gets as far as 2.11 but then instead of seeing a map it asks which language I want, after that it asks which country, but it does not show any countries to choose from nor will it let me continue. Any ideas please?

    Hi, my TomTom 5000 keeps resetting to the menu with the white writing when placed in the dock even without being plugged onto the car power socket and keeps restarting over and over again, when not placed in the dock it works fine.. help please! Thx

      If your device came with a different map update service than the ones you have installed, you can install these through MyDrive Connect. Under "My Content" you can scroll down to "My Maps" and see your options.

    actualizando un TomTom GO610 se desconectó cuando estaba metiendo el mapa. El problema vino porque ocupo toda la memoria pero no se podía ver el mapa. Para seguir los pasos del vídeo en mi caso en el GO610 hay que conectar el cable ANTES de dar los tres click al encendido. Así entra en modo restauración. No sale el % de restauración pero tardó en torno a 10' en restaurase. Una vez restaurado SEGUIA TODO IGUAL DE MAL Y NO FUNCIONA.

    The video is incorrect at least for the 6600 series. Firstly tho (make sure you've not already got My Drive Connect open on screen) you have to click & hold the power button until the text appears then release, then 3 quick clicks, then connect the cable to the device while spinning wheel appears. then reinstall happens. However, for me, it still fails because my screen then says NO MAPS AVAILABLE. How can I reformat my 16Gb Memory Card via the device as directed when that screen doesn't allow access to any apps?? (I already formatted vis pc (fat32). I need my device soonest.

      Putting a device in Recovery mode only reinstalls the main software and not the map or any additional content. If you get the message "No maps available", then you need can follow the steps in this video if your device updates with MyDrive Connect: ua-cam.com/video/t3le-3J1wwg/v-deo.html
      If your device updates over Wi-Fi, then you can find the relevant steps in this article on our support site: uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26303/

      If you have a memory card inserted in your device during the reset, first remove it, then delete the folder named CACHE in the Tomtom MyDrive Connect software in the computer file folder and start the restore. Do not format the memory card because the tomtom operating system is of LINUX type, WINDOWS detects the inside of the memory card as that memory. If you made a mistake and formatted the card with a computer, you should insert the memory card into the device and format it with the device. You must mark.

    To me the video suggests you press the power button to start the device and then press and hold to bring up the white text. On the go 5000 this dose not work, but one long press from the off state until the white text dose work.

    Why does my tomtom model 4CS01 disconnect from the computer when starting system restore and restart normally?

    Hi i did all put after press and release the power button 3 time in quick succession my device not reboots into recovery mode, why ???
    My device is TomTom GO 520 Wi-Fi
    I did everything the video shows you to do but after white text appear on black screen when i press power button 3 times i dont get not a spinning "cog"! !
    and the screen reverts to an image of a tomtom connected to a computer, with a red cross

    I think my 510 is dead, after doing your procedure it still says no map, I notice the sd card icon is greyed out, so the maps are too big for its internal memory and the card reader is faulty. That was my last try, will bin mine unfortunately. Have bought a Go Basic as its replacement.

      My Start 60 2013 is also bricked by a tomtom official update (large maps i think), with lifetime map updates too. Boo tomtom.

    What if your Home software keeps crashing on MacOS and you cannot recover or update you TomTom Rider anymore? For some reason updating, restarting etc...nothing helps. What to do now? My TomTom Rider is now useless. I have lost my maps and have no working Navi and no working TomTom Home on Mac. Absolutely terrible

    It doesn't work on my TomTom Go 510. I get as far as 2:09 (the device restarts) but then instead of showing the maps, it goes back to 1:18 (the spinning wheel) and repeats the process. Over and over. Forever!

    I have a tomtom go 6200 and It will not update through MY DRIVE, Just says to go Wifi, when i connect to wifi to update, It says "YOUR TOMTOM GO 6200 IS UP TO DATE". But it is not up to date, The installed map is 'Europe' v975.7679. released 07/20/2016. There are roads in my area that have been open two years or more and not shown on my Satnav.

      I have a 5200 with exactly same situation. Tells me to go to WiFi and then "Your TomTom is up to date' .Also here the map version is v975. Also installing new firmware/software (in info screen press power 3 times) does not help.

    Mine used to work fine till i updated it.. i even baught a new one and it still keeps restarting and not connecting to live traffic. Apple did the same to its customers years ago.. made people think they needed a new phone.. i wonder if these are doing the same!!!!

    I own Go50/51 tried these steeps got the last section where it shows computer and gps with red X plugged on computer stayed that way. My issue was that I could never type into the Dam gps the screen keeps shifting never lets me type anything screen moves around too much. for the prices I paid for this gps i was really hoping it would work no help lines and why would their be that makes too much dam sense need this GPS to get me to my first day on new Job this product is the biggest letdown ever....

    Very frustrated. I have a Start 50/55 which I have always been very happy with. Now I am unable to update it because a message keeps telling me to download Tom Tom Home which I have done numerous times but I get a message saying that I do not have the app to open Tom Tom Home. I have been going round and round for about 5 hours on and off. Then tried to reset it but of course unable to do anything because unable to install, run or update my device. Nearly tearing my hair out :(

      If you get the message that you need to use TomTom HOME to manage your device, then it sounds like you might have the program MyDrive Connect running instead. If the message states that TomTom HOME needs to be updated and that is what's being downloaded, then something might have gone wrong with an update there. I'd recommend you contact out technical support that can give more in-depth help and troubleshooting tips: uk.support.tomtom.com/app/contact/

    nice story but not happening. How can you restore/repare the firmware in the TomTom 50 Go? Because nothing helps anymore. Or at what address can I send the failing device for which life-time-updates were promished? It feels that I am fooled again. Pitty.

    Does this work with start 60 2013?
    It just showing tom tom logo then it turns off.
    If I try a hard reset it keep the logo stuck on.

    suivi la procédure jusqu'au bout , mais au moment de récupérer la carte , l'écran reste noir avec le chargement au centre qui tourne en bug ... et il ne se passe plus rien!!! que faire ???

    My device is getting stuck shortly after reaching 100% restoring on my drive connect. After spinning wheel and plugging into my usb,progres bar gets promisingly longer until it reaches 100 and then my 5100 reboots just to get progres bar at the bottom stop half way and back to spinning wheel again. Any help anyone???

      The recovery process normally takes between five and 30 minutes after it's started in MyDrive Connect, depending on the software version and your Internet connection.

    My tomtom go 620 get into loop restarting after map update (every 20 sec), I tried recovery,
    it ends 100% and again go to constantly resetting. What is solution? (no SD card inside)

    My tomtom professional 6250 also gave up after 21 month. Followed this video step by step. When black and white screen is on then pressed the button 3 times as shown but my satnav just restart instead of spinning wheel pop up.
    Connected to 2 different computers 2 hours each and apart from keep restarting nothing else happened.
    Tomtom support website is also useless. No solution for this problem, no chance to chat to an expert....

    Why do you not detail a phone number - I have wasted a day trying to get this damned thing working ( Rider 410 model) - completely frustrating when the Robot appears, sends you a link to the same section you have been following - extremely POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE / EXPERIENCE. Trying to get the map updated shouldn't be this difficult.

    Lástima de GPS -GO5200-, ahora tengo un pisa papeles de 320 Euros que ha funcionado en total, menos de 2 meses desde que lo compré en 2016.
    Anteriormente un Via 135M que con las actualizaciones se volvió tan lento, que indicaba los desvíos 200m después de haberlos pasado. Salir de Atenas con él, fue una odisea. Todo ocurre después de las actualizaciones y con 6 años, no voy a mandarlo a reparar. Considero ésto una obsolescencia más que programada, premeditada. Me siento estafado. Nunca más un TomTom, espero no volver a caer en la trampa.

    After the 3 taps, my device goes all WHITE, not black.... no spinning wheel, nothing but bright white! Then it stays that way.

      What happens when you try to recover your device? At which step is it getting stuck?
      Do you not get to the screen with the spinning circle, or do you see that but nothing happens when you connect your device to your computer afterwards?

    alles schön und gut bis ich plötzlich ein flakerndes Screen hatte, trotz ladung schaltet sich dass gerät aus und hat Probleme. Habe die Software resettet und auch Aktualisiert aber der Bildschirm Flackerd sobald er in Batteriemodus Betrieben wird.
    Da es nicht mehre in Garentie ist KOstet mich die Reparatur 105 € und kann 15 bis 20 Werktagen dauern.
    Das ist echt Schade.....für einen Premium Produkt hätte ich eine Premium Leistung und Unterstützung erwartet.

    Does not work neither for my Start 42... I have the debug screen, 3 push and a kind of wheel appear but it directly display the "Warning" sign and the app on the computer says the device does not respond...
    In 2 words : SHITTY GPS...
    By the way, it happens while I was trying to apply mandatory update that was not working at all (after one hour still displayed the "do not unplug").. Good job stupid engineers...

    Well it looks like my Tom Tom is dead! 1005 camper has bitten the dust. It is disappointing that it can no longer be mended out of warranty. It makes a nonsense of updates for life. I think this is the last Tom Tom we buy.... The other makers are probably the same... Only time will tell... I did do all the steps that are shown in the video and the instructions but it is dead!!!

      Same here, last update of Camper destroyed my device. Rebooting, freezing etc.. I send an e-mail to them and recived funny answer. Pay us 105 euro and We will repair your navigation :D

    An error occurred during the update. Navigation is frozen. Rider 500 navigation does not work. TomTom Poland technical support does not exist. Incompetent people work there

    Hopeless! We have updated this satnav once successfully - in 2018- but not after that. MyDrive connect IS installed on computer (several times!) but the device will not update although it does turn on when connected. Videos not much use and no possibility of talking to a helpline person. A lot of money spent for nothing
