My new TomTom arrives tomorrow. After putting in an address,, can you click onto somewhere to see your route as text, I know I shows you the map.

No problem, and yes you can see the text part on the top banner above the maps. Basically it will tell you step by step in how many Kilometers/Miles you need to exit or turn. It will also display an arrow pointing to the direction of your turn.

I updated my TomTom and now it has defaulted the map to showing
North on the view instead of heading the direction you are driving. How do I change that back?

Yes you can, simply to to www.tomtom.com and download the latest version of TomTom Home. Once you downloaded it you need to install and connect your TomTom to your computer using a USB cable. Turn the GPS ON, and runt the TomTom Home Software on you PC. The software if free, but they might charge you for the maps if you GPS does not qualify for free updates.

My car Symbol files appear on the files on the computer but don’t appear on the TomTom itself (Btw all the start demo screens I edited, It for some reason makes the car symbols on the TomTom itself disappear and say no photos found even though I didn’t edit or delete the car symbol files on the computer on my TomTom START 45m. I have an unfortunate feeling that is not fixable. I hope it’s still possible, though.)
Most likely the file name on which the JPGs are stored has changed. Double check to make sure folder names and file extensions are not altered.

Great video - thanks. One problem I am having with Tomtom Rider GPS is that it will not Bluetooth with my ear buds I wear under my helmet. It keeps asking to sync with a headset. Any ideas how to get around this?
You need to update the firmware on your TomTom by connecting it to your computer "PC not Mac" and run TomTom home.

You need to upgrade the firmware to version 9.510 and then you will have the option called Rout Planning which will give you the option to avoid Motorways.

I remember this kind of gps when I was young but it’s not working anymore because it was old!!!!!
Yes it can still work with the latest 2022 maps, if you watch my 12:00 Clock fix for this GPS.

Yes but only if you have the Maps of Ghana or West Africa on it. As far as I know they don't cover Africa, and for Africa you need a Garmin GPS

Turn the TomTom completely OFF, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. You will see all the info that you need about your device.

Yes but only in some Asian countries not all.
Where is the small reset button???
Not all models have the reset button, some have a green LED light in the place where the Reset button should be.

You were good good like most people showing things with screens in computers you were too fast.
You can slow down the playback speed on UA-cam, however I had more complains about viewers telling me that I am too slow.
I have this GPS, its from around 2011 and it can not be updated. does anyone know how to update the map on this?
Yes you can update it through TomTom Website, but the cost to do so exceeds the price of a similar new one. Also you must update the firmware to version 9.5 or higher to fix the 2019 Cock issue. As I am sure you might have heard that on many GPS devices the clock resets itself back to 12:00am once it gets satellite signal.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Instersting, a person that i know gave this old gps to me. it has the lifetime updates and never was activated. tom tom is saying that the device is no longer supported. i would like to get the lasted map that the GPS will take. the new map will not fit on this. not unless im misunderstanding something.
@@brandonray4682 Yes it will, however you can't fit the entire North America, so you have to choose smaller regions. For example United States only, or Canada only, or Canada and Mexico will also fit. But the most important thing is to update the Firmware to Version 9.5xxx where x can be any number. If you don't update the firmware your GPS Clock will keep resetting to 12:00 AM and it will give you incorrect navigation instructions.

@@brandonray4682 If TomTom home says it is up to date check to see if the Clock goes to 12:00AM. Turn the GPS ON, set the correct time, go outside and wait for full satellite signal, see if the clock is still the correct time, you are good to go, if it resets to 12:00 then TomTom Home is wrong. In that caes you need to update the TomTom Home Software on your computer. There are third party websites that actually hosts all versions of TomTom Firmware but I don't want to give you any link to them because they are full of viruses and spyware.
Memories... I remember back in 2009 when my parents would use this in their cars to go everywhere. Before that we only used maps that came in a thick book, similar to a phone book. Waiting for the GPS to receive a signal was a pain in the ass though lmao
I know it used to be so painful to wait for the signal back then. However nowadays they have improved the satellite technology on most GPS devices, and when you turn them on the signal is there in a few seconds. Thanks for bringing back some good old memories for me too, lol

You need to first install the Navcore, then the maps that are compatible with that version of Navcore.
