  • I ordered a cupturner needle felting machine off of Etsy. I’m hoping this machine helps shorten my needle felting hours. I am not able to felt as much as I used to because I have developed carpal tunnel syndrome in my right arm. Let’s try this thing out! #fiberart #needlefelting #felting #feltingmachine

I have this felting machine. Once it allowed the needle to come lose and forcefully fly off. It barely missed my face. I now wear my safety shield. It frightened me. I was lucky it didn't find my eye or face. I still use it and love it. I highly recommend it, but please wear your safety gear.

I've never done felting, so take this with a grain of salt:
My impression is that the fine needle is suitable for the lower speeds and the heavy wants full speed and wrists like a power-lifter.

Oh wow what an interesting contraption. I see what you mean about the needles not going in deep enough, the inside needs to be DENSE and this really seems like it does more surface level and keeps the inside softer. Thanks for sharing it, I'll be interested in seeing how you get on with this machine in the future :D

I think it will work amazing for certain applications like felting in top wool over a dense core. I’ll definitely be making more videos as I learn how to use this thing.

Well, I thought when felting you are supposed to penetrate through all the way to and under piece of foam or felt? Maybe that’s only 2d, but it didn’t seem like you were inserting it very deep with your technique?

@@kaylahall1219 yes, with 2D felting you do. Not with 3d felting. Many times for 3d felting you’re wanting to stab from surface to center. When using the felting machine the machine almost “kicks back” when trying felt deeper. There’s a lot more resistance and I was a little worried about breaking a needle.

Wondering can this be used on locs

I don’t see why not. If you’re using it to apply locks as long hair/fur, you’d just want to be mindful of your fingers.

Hi, new subscriber here. I am wanting to get into the needle felting craft, but have no experience about it at all. Is there a needle felting kit that you would recommend that would have instructions and make a variety of things. I've looked e bay and there is several and I do not know which one would be better for a beginner. Reasonably priced. TY interesting tool you got there. I'm going to finish your video and TY. God Bless You

I suggest Living Felt or Sarafina Fiber Art. Both companies have amazing UA-cam tutorials that go along with their kits.

Hey Katie. I'm not sure if you will see this or not but I JUST bought the same gun. Is there supposed to be a screw you have to tighten so the needle doesn't fall out? Mine didn't come with directions and what I saw online looked like it was supposed to but I don't have a screw...it just has a hole so I'm thinking it's missing. Trying to find someone who has the same machine for clarity.

Hello, there is a little plastic thing that slides back and forth over the area the needle goes into. You slide it forward to cover the end of the needle so it doesn’t fall out.
The opposite end of the little needle holder has a screw that could possibly come loose. You have to slide the plastic piece further past where the needle is held in so see the screw. I hope that helps. It’s a bit hard to explain over text.

Yes! Mine appears to definitely be missing the screw opposite the needle holder. It's just an open gold hole. Hmm. Will have to check the hardware store to see if I can find a screw that fits. I don't want to return it just for that.
How are you liking yours so far?

@@aprice154 You might want to t to contact the person you bought it from about the missing screw. I love my felting machine. It’s taken me a bit to figure out how to make it work for what I do but I use it a lot now. You can’t do super detailed stuff with it but the machine helps speed up the monotonous part of adding colors to core wool and trying to firm up the form. I only ever use the fine needle with it. The heavier gauge needles are harder to pierce into the wool with as it’s felting quickly.

I have no idea what this is but the machine in the thumbnail looked cool but you have a really nice voice and would probably be pretty good at doing asmr videos

I'm thinking of getting one, but the issues people have had make me wary. The idea is great, but this feels like a prototype waiting to be fully realized.

I’ve never had any problems with mine. You have to use oil with the needle every time to keep the machine running properly. It also says to check the screws to make sure they haven’t come loose from vibration before using.
