Wondering can this be used on locs

Yeah i bought some of the cosclay sculpt thinking i could use it as stop motion puppet but even after bake at the right temp and baked straight it still cracks 😢 wish i knew what i was doing wrong ...or this clay is a lie

I'm thinking of getting one, but the issues people have had make me wary. The idea is great, but this feels like a prototype waiting to be fully realized.

I have this felting machine. Once it allowed the needle to come lose and forcefully fly off. It barely missed my face. I now wear my safety shield. It frightened me. I was lucky it didn't find my eye or face. I still use it and love it. I highly recommend it, but please wear your safety gear.

Hello. i know this is an old post but hay. love what your doing by the way. but i have a question. i have a felting machine which i put away but now would like to play with it again just felting my scraps from other playing around. BUT i can not find a place to buy the new needles. have you any links please. actually i did fond a couple of places and the wanted so much for just 3 needles i can not afford silly money. any help i would be gratefully. Thank you. x

Hey Katie. I'm not sure if you will see this or not but I JUST bought the same gun. Is there supposed to be a screw you have to tighten so the needle doesn't fall out? Mine didn't come with directions and what I saw online looked like it was supposed to but I don't have a screw...it just has a hole so I'm thinking it's missing. Trying to find someone who has the same machine for clarity.

Hi, new subscriber here. I am wanting to get into the needle felting craft, but have no experience about it at all. Is there a needle felting kit that you would recommend that would have instructions and make a variety of things. I've looked e bay and there is several and I do not know which one would be better for a beginner. Reasonably priced. TY interesting tool you got there. I'm going to finish your video and TY. I've never done felting, so take this with a grain of salt: My impression is that the fine needle is suitable for the lower speeds and the heavy wants full speed and wrists like a power-lifter.

Oh wow what an interesting contraption. I see what you mean about the needles not going in deep enough, the inside needs to be DENSE and this really seems like it does more surface level and keeps the inside softer. Thanks for sharing it, I'll be interested in seeing how you get on with this machine in the future :D

Question: Does food coloring work on cosclay like how Alcohol ink does? I've got plenty of food coloring (a charming neon light green coloring for instance) I would rather use for coloring the clay (I'm gonna get myself translucent cosclay next month... in a few days... I want to make a life like artificial frog, much like the silicone Jellyfish, it would use cosclay for the skin, skulpty clay for the bones, magnets (inside cosclay made bags) for various things such as simulating the way frogs breathe under the chin.

Just an aside, but when toy manufacturers are making bendy toys, there are included port holes on the lateral edges of the bendy segment. This improves flexibility by allowing material room to gap or bunch as needed. Another technique would be to sculpt segments individually with overlaps to hide the gaps along the wire, again to allow better range of motion without ripping the cover material.

Would Cosclay work for a stop motion puppet?

If you are going to bake it more than once, always bake it in its straight form, else it will crack at the curves/stress points. Then bend and play with it. Per manufacturer

Ok, first off, you made it, you knew the wire armature was there. You should have known what would happen if you tried to bend the tail the opposite way. Secondly, what were you thinking trying to bend it.. It's not a toy. 😂

As I understand it, flexibility is needed so that there is no fragility, and not so that the finished figure can be bent as you like. For example, a figurine made of super sculpy crashed when it fell, this will not happen with cosclay.

Wow I will have to pick up some of that cosclay and give it a try! I'm most impressed by the feathers, you say you hand make each one? How can you get wool so thin! It's really incredible.

I'm surprised at how pliable it is right out of the pack, especially considering how regular cosclay is just so difficult to condition, AND how translucent polyclays are usually more crumbly... Thank you for your vid on this! I have seen this product and just wondering exactly how it felt, compared to regular cosclay and other translucents, and how well it worked out. I can see some applications I'd be happy to use it for, but it's not as clear as some of the other kinds is it? I guess you trade some stuff off for the movement you can get out of the piece.

Update to my previous comment: Polymer Clay Artist has an excellent tutorial on several salient points which we need to know before working with Cosclay. One of the issues is cracking and why it happens. I suggest it highly.

Thank you for this video. Wish I had seen it before I bought a bunch. Been working with Premo for years. Did a magnolia brand with wire armature. My sculptures hardly ever crack. This branch had numerous cracks and even when I repaired them and baked it again, it cracked elsewhere. Also when I bent it. I did condition it on my pasta machine and had to leach it two times because it was like marsh mellow cream. Oh, well! If I can't find further info on how to use this I will use it for something flat.

I ordered cosclay because I wanted to make an emerald tree boa. I was more than half way and it cracked and broke like what you showed with the tail. I thought this stuff would hold up really good but there was a stress point and it broke. I was pissed because of the time I put in it so I'm not sure if this is the stuff. It looks good on some videos and the head of the snake is in good shape so I kept the head I did with cosclay. Not sure what I did wrong whether it was applied too thick.
