The ending segment beginning at 15:17 prompted this observation and thought: "A simple life is not a poor life. If you have what you need - you're not poor, nor to be pitied.
In many ways: a more-simple and contented life may be the envy of those encumbered by the stress of life filled with 'too much stuff'..." You appear to have found a comfy balance.
Absolutely agree,the encumbrance comes when we pass and our loved ones are shackled with all our unwanted possessions.

Merry Christmas to you both! I'm still of the belief that y'all should acquire a half-wishbone mule sail to add to your arsenal of sails. One of the joys of a ketch is that it's the "Swiss Army Knife" of sailing yachts in regard to its' possible sail configurations. 🐻🎀
I've hoped you would cross paths with Learning by Doing, Vernon, sailing in the same vicinity. I think you would get on great with him.

Lovely vidoeo. Merry Christams to you. Boat works are very simlar to working on your house. Something always needs fixing or refurbishing and any of those jobs always takes three trips to the hardware store.
Bought a 28'er in September, no tiller pilot, no chart plotter, single handed, first keel boat. Depth sounder packed up on the first leg (Gosport to Brighton). That was corrosion on the terminals. Got as far as the wash before the season ran out. Upgrade over winter plus house bank to run them ready for a completion up to Hartlepool in the spring. Home Port.
So, my lack of sympathy to the TWO of you.

Sailing with no autopilot for four or five hours is great. As soon as the engine goes on it is a pain you ken ware. Happy Christmas and a sober new year.
We Love your channel. We bought a Ketch rig and proud of it. It was our decision to have a true liveaboard 44, but your jexplainations over the years caught our attention. So far so good and no regrets. But do have a question: Would you use the same bottom coat again on Espa if it was a steel hull, which we have? Just trying to sort that decision out for end of January haul out in Grand Canaries. Keep the video coming, all topics are good coming from your situation and long list of experiences; one day at a time.

Great video, so authentic & informative. I have a question. I heard you say that you were anchoring in 23m of water? Wow, that sound like it would need a lot chain. How much do you guys carry, and is anchoring at that kind of depth a regular happening?
We carry 100m. Indonesia has a lot of deep anchorages... ⚓
