Wow, that was some nice coarse looking gold compared to your usual beach take. Very Nice! The smooth water head looks really promising It was great those guys brought some gold cubes down so you can really see the difference in how hard it is to pack around so packing light and small is key... especially when you have to walk 17,032 miles each way!

Good idea having that well that fills up first on that new header box. Nice smooth flow. Your macro lens really helped to show the difference in shape between the gold and black sands. Does that vdr have different size vortices than the gold cube size vdr?

Old Timer here, almost 60 years of hobby gold panning and engineering the float sluces and pans since the early 1960's. Open source idea for you on the water finish control across the out end of the attachment, add a single layer broom attachment hanging down to near the bottom where it just brushes the water flowing past it. This will control the many micro waves and will help keep the float gold in the mat. Another trick that the old miners did, and it would work beautifully here because you are recycling your water supply in the catch basin, put a cup of vinegar in it to add a little acid which will help[ separate the gold from small amounts of clay that will tend to make it both float as well as sick to larger discharge particles, and I think it helps the gold to filter down to the mat under the trammel. And Save Some For Me!

My sister and I were on vacation down at Coronado Island, San Diego right by a military base and we were just walking along the beach and we noticed black sand, we got down and began watching it and we actually saw flakes of what appeared to be gold that washed around from the black sand. We both were surprised and probably would have tried to pan it had we not been in such a populated area. That was the first time I ever ran upon something like that.

Great episode, Jason . Nice to see everyone " getting along " at the beach . The "smoothwater" sluice head seems to work great ! One improvement I would suggest is to flare the side " wings " out at a 45-degree angle to direct the water more towards the side of the sluice . Just my 2 cents 😉 ... Till the next one ,, Cobbles !!

    • @FlourgoldWizards

    • @danlovett3697
      @danlovett3697 Рік тому

@Flour gold Wizards Gotcha 👌 ,,, How about making them hinged & lockable , on either side , each as long as the smoothwater itself is wide . That would allow it to extend beyond the "V" part of the sluice , to just the width of the chute ,, .... No backflow or unwanted turbulence... Another 2 cents , LOL

What an Awesome day on Superior . And you weren't alone this time . The crowds are growing ,lol . That Smoothwater Header box works fantastic , good on PT for making that , he's a Brilliant man alright . Have you ever tried one of those rectangular buckets for cleaning your VDR mat Jason , i see it was a bit difficult squeezing it into the round bucket , but i suppose the only problem might be that a couple of round buckets fit inside each other ( easier to carry ) than having one odd shape bucket , but it was just a thought . Great job Brother , and yeah walking long distances with a lot of gear does not get easier as we get older . 🤣 Cobbles 🍺🍺👌 Cheers Nev . 👍✌✔

The same folks who passed that New Gun law in Mich are going to pass another one, ""NO MORE RECREATIONAL GOLD PROSPECTING OR EVEN METAL DETECTING ON MICHIGAN BEACHES""", because your """DAMAGING THE ENVIRONMENT""" and """STEALING PRECIOUS METAL THAT BELONGS TO THE STATE AND THE INDIAN TRIBE THAT THE LAND BELONGS TO""" I,m not joking. Got this info from some friends I know that are in the Gun Hobby Lobby and were trying to stop that Bill. They over heard other Bills they want to bring out and make Law and called me since they know I Metal Detect and sometimes prospect and heard of your channel. They don,t like what you guys are doing, they don,t call that a hobby, it could be what your showing online all the gold you are easily getting """FOR FREE"". I just checked a gold evaluation site not sure how correct it is but at the time of this post it says 0.29 grams of gold is worth roughly $18.00 usd.. wonder if the gas price and equipment cost to get over there and do that test is higher or lower, most likely higher? So I guess this is more of a hobby and not something you can actualy profit off of unless you found like A LOT.

I'm in the process of making a similar water head for my sluice. It's not nearly as nice looking as yours since it is made from scraps of metal but so far it looks like it might work good. Love your videos.

Awesome video! What beach is this? Where? Alaska? I am slowly getting all the equipment required and I hope to go beach mining next year 2024. 54 & handicapped with multiple spinal vertebra injuries from base of neck c2 down to & including my tailbone but I am tired of living on disability check month to month & barely getting by.
    Happy beach mining 😊

Hey mine boss Rigby & nipper Jason, hows about a bag of the raw dirt?
I'd like to try and improve even more on "flour gold" processing. I think I have an unorthodox processing idea. Help me help you.🍻
On the down side, I might need supervision. Does Rigby fly well? "Florida"😎

Gold n00b here. I only recently became aware of the thing with black sand. I can walk from my house to a strip of beach that looks EXACTLY like that in 2 minutes... close enough for me to carry buckets back to my house. The sand is magnetic, even more interesting is that the river runs through some of the highest returning gold regions in the state, albeit much further upstream. There were floods in 2016 and I'm positive some of that upstream gold has made it this far down, but as yet, I have only seen about two tiny specs in a half dozen test pans. Maybe I need to sluice it anyway?

Wizzard, your killing me trying to work flour gold with a sluice. And those Gold Cubes are useless as well ;) Save up $17 for duel tray ultrasonic jewlery cleaner!! Set it at 45 degree incline, turn on high vibrate, a bit of water from a small pump at the top and feed it with a spoon. There will be no return to tailings, that will get it all until gold flows over the edge of the bowl!!! Once you figure that out, build a beach model (maybe from a dual small sink) use your pump and feed it with a shovel!!!!!! (use a sander motor for the vibration or a dry washer motor). No more 1/3 of a gram days. That suspension chamber will catch ounces!! Of course Rigby will expect a raise!!!!!

Thanks Jason, found you at the right time. I live in Ntn IL, spend alot of time in Rhinelander and had recently heard about some of the flour gold on the south shores. I was considering making a day of panning in the Agate Beach Area. ? I was hoping for some pointers on areas. I now see I would need some delicate equipment for recovery.. Thanks again Eric

If I lived closer to you? I'd show you the wonders a rockerbox would do to that sand. As it can run several buckets to your one and is a dead end for all the gold. Even 400 mesh and smaller. "Far to small to see" so not many know it's washing right though your sluesbox and or the gold cubes people use. And in a place like where you are? There are deposits in between what your looking for. That very possibly could hold ounces to the grams your finding. Not to mention all the micro gold that lodged with the larger gold that you catch in a slues. But only with a fraction of it being recovered.
And if seeking the best spot in all of it? Look to where the blacksands pile up and bend. With the pulling being a good indicator. But when bent it proves there is more than just blacksand keeping it there. Now this applies to ocean beaches and may only be an occurrence you see there after a big storm. But slope of the beach and derction of the waves plays a big role too. Meaning' if one beach is blown out? Another that faces the wind difrently may not be. And may not have even shown any blacksand beds before. Because it was washed wrong by the waves.
I see spots on Google earth that I know from when I was a kid that the same kind of places looked like a solid dome of gold. But only if looked at with the sun at the right angle. And was to small to see any one piece of it. Same happens out on the open flat beach. But it then is a semi straight ribbon. Sometime many yards long and a few feet wide. But millions will walk right over it and never see it. As only a few locals along the washington coast have seen it. As there not everywhere. But once seen it is an unforgettable sight. And looks like a solid layer. But in reality is only a few ounces. And stays there unknown because it's to small for conventional thinking to get it out without using mercury. And It's why beaches are so heavily regulated. As if people knew it was there like I describe? They would do anything to get some of it. "I have 9 pounds of mercury" the same 9 pounds I bought 15 years ago. And I probably will never use it. As I have my rockerbox. And the little I loose in the exchange dosen't even weigh in at the end of the day.
And I should clarify? That what I deem a rockerbox is not like any made today. As the original had flexible pockets that eliminates the heaves settling into a solid mass that the gold can't migrate to the bottom through. But when made right nothing passes the first apron (catch pocket).
And if anyone wants to test the example? We all have the right tool for that job in having a gold pan. But it takes two people working it because the loosening action can not stop. So needs fed by someone else and bucket for a tube to siphon q cinstant sream of water with it to keep an equal amount of water to match the sand going in. Doing it this way? You at least get a look at what's bellow the size your catching in you sluesbox. And in that take some course sand paper and rough up the metal surface. Even in the header box. But mostly applies to carpeted bottoms. And I don't know how to help a rubber mat. That dosen't care about super fine gold. When it the nuggets and flake that is selling the dream. But a reliable and earnable wage exists without any delusional thinking.
Just stays delusional to me' now that I need it. Now thay I'm homles and have nowhere to build my micro washplant out of my rockerbox. One that fits my life living with IBS. As it will run non-stop. And nearly eliminates all the work involved. As a hand rocker works good. But one made to rock itself? Needs only it's hopper fed and it cleaned out once or twice a day.
