At the end of 2015 I made a video about Vietnamese people living on Tonle Sap Lake. ua-cam.com/video/62Qzt_L6ZvM/v-deo.html This is a follow up of the Vietnamese in Cambodia, but with a slightly different tone. These people were all fairly assimilated and live normal and stable lives. Thank you for watching this video. Please share it with your friends.
I am Cambodian and the Vietnamese are one of the nicest people I've met ... politics aside, we need to learn to love each other especially we are neighbors and I am truly sorry of the discrimination done by my people and vice versa. 🙏🙏
I have been following you since day one when you had 100 followers and loved all your videos. This series is by far my favourite. Your channel has allowed me to live through the Vietnam heritage and the beautiful stories you tell. As my Viet Kieus, born and raised in North America we often don't get to learn and see everything that was history. Even though our parents and grandparents tells us stories but it's always good to hear and see others as well. Saddened me that you left Vietnam however without a doubt, your talent in story telling will see big futures especially for this generation. keep it up!
Viet thief plunged illegal immigrants into Cambodia when they have a lot of Vietnamese population in Cambodia then Viet thieve will rob Cambodia like Viet robbed South East Cambodia Prey Nokor city in 17th century today call Hochimin city.
Thanks for the video. These mini documentaries are my favorite. I do take notice to all the effort and time you put into it. All the subtitles and editing to scene order, music, timing etc. There are a ton of scenes and cuts. Great job. Another thumbs up.
+jeffhalebopp thanks. This took a solid 2 days of editing. Close to 30 hours. I had 3.3 hours of footage. Not an easy edit but these are my favorite to produce.
Great videos Kyle. An insight look into the lives of vietnamese people. Most of other youtubers just show you foods and restaurants of where they eat, but yours is unique.
Thanks for making this video, Kyle. I'm Cambodian. My great grandma is Vietnamese. My grandma never learned to speak Viet only Khmer. But one thing that my great grandma managed to pass down was her comforting Viet dishes in your video like thit kho tau. I think I eat more Viet dishes at home than Khmer dishes. Nhung ma minh la nguoi Kho Me. Minh rat la yeu mon an Viet!
WingChunBoyz: You are so lucky. There have been many people killed by polpot. Please cherish what you have, be grateful to the dead for your peaceful life.
Your video is getting better and better. Thanks for taking us to where the Viets live, their lives, their thoughts, their beautiful smiles... "Việt Nam mình không quên nguồn gốc. Ở đâu họ cũng nhớ gốc cội..." Thanks.
As a Viet Kieu in America, this has been such a great insight into what it means to be Viet Kieu and Im enlightened to know how similar we around the world. Thanks so much for making this Anh Kyle, I will share it with my other Viet Kieu friends out there.
Great video! Not sure how my Vietnamese great grandmother adapted to Cambodia with my Chinese great grandfather back in the mid 1800s, but this video is close enough to imagine.
Wow great video Kyle , thank you for making this video , I have heard a lot about Vietnamese people live in Cambodia, my mom also once time live there with her family. I really enjoy watching your channel keep up the goods work
What a great documentary. Thank you so much. I am a Vietnamese study abroad in the Netherlands. Maybe someday I can be a character in your documentary :).
very eye opening documentary. Excellent work Kyle ! you have such a big heart for a young man. Keeps up the great work. Keeps doing these documentaries
I get lots of mixed emotions watching this video. thank for what you've done to the poor pp in this area. hopefully I'll be able to visit there one day! lots of respect to you.
Hey Kyle, I 've watch many of your videos, my family are 華 僑 ,Hua Qiao in Mandarin or Wa Kieu in Cantonese? great to see you tell the story of your people.
the girl at 7:43 is just like my mother but with different background. My mom and her grandparents were Chinese Vietnamese, though they speak Cantonese ( china s second language)to each other, and speak Vietnamese to me and my cousins. Shes fluent in speaking but cant go really deeply in the language and she has never been to Hong Kong ( where ppl speak cantonese in china). i mean it definitely feels weird to speak a language in which youve never been to its country or raised in.
i am not a viet kieu . but i do like what you are doing. great video by the way. very clear and steady. but i do appreciate your work. and love your video.
I like your video because it is natural and no drama inside, and the more important is your intention you want to share the life of vietnamese who live far away from their mother land
An interesting video. You are definitely finding your feet. I did have to laugh a bit though about identifying Vietnamese homes by the smell of fish. Khmer love their fish too. ... oh how they love it.. and that smell pervades near everywhere that's near water! Another note- There are Vietnamese in Cambodia who are prospering. They are investors, entrepreneurs, and managers for Viet companies (plantations, factories, etc.) Some of these are not as well assimilated. But that's for another day and another video when you get back to this part of the world. Good luck with your new adventures!
same here I am chinese but was born and raised in Vietnam and so as my parents. They still speak chinese to their parents, but i don't. my generation and i kind or like blend in with vietnamese culture and get rid of our chinese roots gradually to next generation. Tbh i feel weird and bad tho
When you say you are Chinese, you are Chinese. Even if you speak Chinese. My grandfather is Chinese and lives in Vietnam. I was born in Vietnam. I speak Vietnamese and I am Vietnamese. I enjoy the benefits of Vietnam. I am ready to live and die for this country.
You say you are Chinese, you have to understand. China is a multi-ethnic country, from which ethnic origin? Why your family must leave China. Maybe China is just where your family comes from. Your failure to identify who you are, can lead to tragedy for yourself.
you can't speak Chinese and the Chinese culture also disappeared ...OK,It can only be said that you have Chinese descent, but it is not a real Chinese ..greetings from China!

Hi I'm Cambodian I'm not hate Vietnamese I think have good Vietnamese and bad Vietnamese . Cambodian also the same have good ppl and bad ppl. Everywhere have bad and good ppl. Welcome to my kingdom of Cambodia
Hi Kyle. Good videos about Vietnamese in Cambodia. I am from Cambodia and I currently live in US and have a Vietnamese girlfriend and friends. I would say that history and politics play a big role in the problem of Vietnamese integration into Cambodian society. People, either Cambodia or Vietnamese, suffer. I have met and lived closed to Vietnamese who are successful once they can integrate, first by language and culture. What I have seen as the main barrier is that Vietnamese tend to stay closely within their community that they have their own schools and speak more their language.
Beautiful place very friendly place this guy is rage and bones man good moneys some time is very good stuffs some of them good family thank you for sharing your beautiful story. Bless you all .
nice messaging at the end...a lot of Vietnamese is living outside of Vietnam for many reasons and those living in cambodia probably doing it more tougher then some. However we will always remember our roots and where we come from.
Would love to see the smile of all my Cambodian people live happily too.. Have the rights to of saying their country and not be forced off their land in a cruelty way then lead up to a broken families of nowhere to go.. All because of the culprit government enslave by the Viet and is allowing them to take over our land freely..
Easy said than done. The Cambodians hate viet. And viets look down on cams. Just look at asian in the us. None works together. Good luck to love each others.
Great doc, man. First video I've saw of your channel. I'm Cambodia American so, it's interesting to see this perspective. What are your thoughts on Vietnamese settlement in Cambodia?
My friend , Judy Aitken, has been working with Vietnamese community in Phnom Penh for many years. I was told that she mostly worked with Vietnamese who find recycle stuffs from trash dump.
Central Vietnam used to be the KINGDOM OF CHAMPA. South Vietnam in Khmer language is KAMPUCHEA KROM and ethnic Khmer is the indigenous people of Kampuchea Krom, that's why you see lots of ethnic Khmer live in South Vietnam. Saigon (aka Ho Chi Minh City) in Khmer language is PREY NOKOR mean City of Forest, it was a small fishing village, used to belong to Cambodia approximately 400 years ago. Phu Quoc island in Khmer language is called KOH TRAL. From the great KHMER EMPIRE that built ANGKOR WAT, occupied a vast land of Southeast Asia, now what they have, a small tiny land squeezed by Thailand & Vietnam. Thailand chopped off Northern part of Cambodia & Vietnam chopped off Southern part of Cambodia. That's the end of the story. If you want to know more, do yourself some research of genuine history. Now you know why over 50% of Cambodian hate Vietnamese & Thais as well. Just ask yourself, how do you feel when China occupied Spratly Islands & Paracel Islands? Anyway, no matter what, I still believe in One World One Love. Only love can heal the world. Cheers.
Cambodians stole the land from the champa and the ethnic tribes that lived theire in the first place. It never belonged to cambodia in the first place.
