To be honest, an anime where characters take their damage seriously would add a bit of drama and intensify the situation. It would make the fights seem more critical and life-threatening, a live or die situation. I know some horror themed anime make the characters take notice of their severe injuries, and the panic it induces in them adds strength of emotion to the inevitable climax.
When they start explaining their life story while fighting then the fight get pushed 5 episodes later because they just internally going through their life story Throwing shade on black clover if you didn't know
