I've supported Man Utd since I was 10 in 1955 so I've suffered and been inspired by this great team and I can honestly say that Denis Law has given me such pleasure and excitement equivalent to Best, Charlton, Bryan Robson, Cantona, Scholes, Keane, Giggs. Denis Law RIP.
A Scottish footballing legend. Law and Dalglish are the top 2, you can pick your order, but they are the top 2 without doubt. I might go with Dalglish as #1, but I'm not old enough to have witnessed Law in his pomp, so I won't argue with anyone who puts Denis at #1.
I was at Wembley in 1963 when Denis scored for the Rest of the World against England and remember Alfredo Di Stefano and Puskas hugging him. Then I took a friend to Highbury in 1964 and we watched him scoring a brace ( one assist by George Best ) ..Man Utd beat Arsenal 3-2. It was match of the day and can be seen on You Tube.
My family moved to Manchester in 1964 when I was 10. Up in Glasgow I loved Celtic, but in the south at least there was Denis Law who was my hero. I've followed United ever since, Law was the "King" with that mane of fair hair and brilliant football ability. That is way I will always remember him. RIP, Denis.
If Manchester United had of beaten Manchester city they would have still been religated because Birmingham City beat Norwich City 3:1 so in the end his goal didn't matter.
What an articulate Lawman, & the fluency comes simply from sincerity, you hear it in this interview. And on the pitch? Well on the lawn there were certain unpredictable tennis players whose wizardry changed the direction of everybody else's head in a second - - the other player, the umpire, the entire crowd tracking the momentum one direction & suddenly doing a double-take, having to track back the other way to find the ball - - because one switch of the wrist just changed the game. Law with one move of an ankle was that way on the pitch - - 21 players & an entire crowd & the cameraman following the momentum one way & suddenly a double-take having to track back to find the ball, in a flash in the net, because the man with the ball was Denis Law.
One of my all time heroes. I was there the day he scored the back heel. He did not relegate us. We had to win and Birmingham City had to lose and I think we still had to get a result from another fixture. Birmingham got a result that day so we were down even if we had won. No salute from Denis that day.
He mentions there about coming back to England to play for whomever. That's because in the space of two weeks he nearly ended up with five other clubs before Manchester United signed him. Torino spoke to Manchester City first but they had neither the money nor the vision to bring him back. Wolves looked like the deal could be done but they couldn't agree terms, Arsenal pulled out of talks when they signed Joe Baker. Tottenham's discussions were tentative and didn't really amount to much. Bill Shankley was desperate to table a bid but the Liverpool board wouldn't back him while Everton had the opposite problem. Back by Littlewoods pools, they had no problem with the fee but Harry Catterick didn't fancy Law and made little effort to engage in talks. With Everton stalling, Matt Busby got the backing of the Manchester United board and signed him. As the piece says, had they not signed him, they quite probably would have been relegated in 1963.
Denis Law RIP., Duncan Edwards RIP., Bobby Charlton RIP.,George Best RIP., Cantona, Scholes, Keane, Giggs, Schmeichel....add Bryan Robson and David Beckham...what a team that would be ???
Denis scored the same goals for Scotland as Kenny did. Dagleish had over 100 caps while Denis had 55. I know who I would have in my team, the one and only King Denis.
R.I.P. The Lawman. King of the Stretford End.
A peerless player and pioneer.
As a young kid, everyone wanted to be Denis Law. So invariably, you had ten Laws on the pitch at one time.😊😊😊😊😊
As an Englishman I am so sad to hear of his demise. He was always a pleasure to listen to and he came across as a real gentleman.

leaving Rooney out of that list..
The fact you mentioned Giggs proves what type of man you are, you should be on the rule 43 VP wing at HMP Frankland.
Clearly an intelligent man as well. R.I.P. Denis.
His playing made me weep during his life; today, the tears are back. This old man will miss you, Denis!

To be a hero for both United AND City takes something special.
God Bless you 'Denis the Scottish King of Manchester' ! From a 59 year old Lifelong CITY fan! dx
The last of the Trilogy has gone, R.I.P. Denis.
To me, Denis was, not just 'The King', but 'The Lawman' and Denis the Menace. all rolled into one.
The 1st United game i went to, Denis scored two goals, RIP King Denis

A credit to Aberdeen and Scotland. A good man.
My hero was Jack Charlton and he loved Denis Law, After their scrap
If Manchester United had of beaten Manchester city they would have still been religated because Birmingham City beat Norwich City 3:1 so in the end his goal didn't matter.
He didn't know at the time, but didn't care as United meant so much to him
the history books show different... DENIS HAMMERS THE FINAL NAIL IN UNITED’S COFFIN AS THEIR RELEGATION IS CONFIRMED= WAS THE hEADLINES
RIP, Dennis Law!😢😢😢❤❤❤
One of the greatest who's ever played the sport. RIP Denis. We'll never forget you. Say hi to Bobby and George for me. Sleep tight.

Farewell to the King. A legend from Footballs Golden Age
Jimmy Quicksilver, WHAT A PLAYER! Such a down to earth guy. Tough yet fair and a GENIUS with it.
R.I.P dennis what a legend xxx #DennisLaw #BusbyBabes
Best Scottish striker ever
RIP The lawman
The first game i ever watched was Utd v City, and Dennis scored the winner.
Any chance of putting the whole of this series on UA-cam? Lots of great episodes & memories.
9:24 Luckiest boy in the world. Best Law Charlton. He saw them all. I hope he's doing well now 50+ years later
Barry Davies, Brian Moore…commentating on George Best, Bobby Charlton, Denis Law. Quality all round
R.I.P Denis

Interesting. Juventus also claimed him when he wanted to leave Torino. Everton already had Young so maybe that’s why Catterick didn’t want him
This reminds me…..I must hire a van
Rip what a player
always liked him
Denis Law was the hero of Scottish football.
anyone else getting the urge to hire a van from Salford?
Yes. Do you know anywhere I can get one?
Top pro. Did what he had to do
Don’t wear gloves. Just hold your cuffs like The Lawman. RIP Denis
His infamous goal against United didn’t actually relegate them, they’d have gone down anyway.
Denis Law RIP., Duncan Edwards RIP., Bobby Charlton RIP.,George Best RIP., Cantona, Scholes, Keane, Giggs, Schmeichel....add Bryan Robson and David Beckham...what a team that would be ???
Dennis law with Scotland second greatest player after sir Kenny dalglish
Not sure about that. I watched most of KD's performances in a Scotland jersey - he was crap in many.
Denis scored the same goals for Scotland as Kenny did. Dagleish had over 100 caps while Denis had 55. I know who I would have in my team, the one and only King Denis.
Bill shankley. He knew a player
“Denis Law was a genius of a player”
R.I.P to Denis Law from Manchester City Fc we'll never forget you for that back-heel ⚽️ 🥅 GOAL 👌
Iconic, Best or Law should not have been let go and abandoned. Utd abandoned Blanchflower post Munich
@@daveseville7394 Best was also my all time hero, but he abandoned United not the other way round.
Best remembered for relegating Manchester United. Only the Glazers have come close and they were invited by Sir Alex Ferguson.
sponsored by Salford Vampire :))
United players today, along with their ownership and managers could not hold a candle to this man.....United are dead today.
Few people can make a City💙🤍 United ❤️🤍🖤RIP Legend
