Nice one. Could you please add subtitles? I read about this player, and would like to learn more about the era. Many blogs consider him the greatest player of Manchester City's history, before the takeover of the Emirati businessmen.
Lovely Video about my all-time favourite footballer. I was there at Derby County in 1966 on his debut at Newcastle when City won the title and when he came on as a second half substitute against the same team.. Priceless memories.
I shall be 64 on the 8th April. I am a lifetime Man Utd fan, worshipping Bobby Charlton. My bedroom was filled with posters of Bobby and the boys but one day, my Pop came into my bedroom and could not believe I had a singular colour phot of Colin Bell on my wall, amid all of my photos of Bobby. I expected a clip around my ears..... "good shout son",.... never spoke about it again but one day, under pressure fro my Mother, the old man wallpapered my bedroom. All the posters were hung back up,... including the poster of Colin. I need say no more!
I've more and more noticed when folk become middle-aged/elderly, they appear love give their age ( almost somehow boasting ) in your case even giving you're birthday. Why do folk do this ( just asking/saying ) Anyway, Peace to all.
Grew up watching him on the kippax terraces... Few years ago took my mum to a game as she always supported city and made sure we had a few bob to go to the games as a young lad... We Met Colin Bell in our hospitality box and he treated my mum like royalty.. His picture with my mother that day has pride of place in my home. Proper gentleman and what a footballer. Respect.
And some people think man city have only been around since the money came into the club Always been a a great football club and what a player Colin Bell was .
I’m now 54 and a Chelsea fan my early favourite players were Wilkins, osgood , chopper Harris and Colin bell what I did see of Colin bell made a big impression
One of the greatest footballing documentaries out there about a simply incredible man, If you haven't seen it yet, WATCH IT NOW BC YOUR MISSING OUT IF YOU HAVEN'T
Manchester City - my team since the very early 70's, and Colin Bell one of the favs. Such a great player, a true king, indeed! RIP. Thank you for the great moments.
Cruel injury that basically finished him. Could have had 80 caps for England and was seriously missed by England for the 78 qualifying campaign. Excellent video btw
Dr. Mr. Nobbins, take a bow for one very fine piece of Documentary Football History of a True Legend of a Player. I am a Lifelong Liverpool fan since the 60's and you could never, ever take your eyes off Colin Bell he just seemed to be everywhere. A Truly World Class Talent, an Englishman from very humble beginnings. He didn't cost a £100million but my word he would be up there by todays rates. A Fabulous career tarnished by two individuals who probably reacted out of envy and cowardice. That is a true bully for you. Buchan's lack of respect is actually sickening. Francis Lee was a Bully that is obvious. Colin will always be remembered in football for his incredible "Engine" he would still be coming at you at top speed after 85 and looking like it was just starting. I checked my watch more times for Colin Bell than any other player, he was Magnificent. He was a referee moaner just like i was so i could kind of relate to his passion to want to win. RIP Colin Bell never forgotten and YNWA!!! Only one thing wrong with Colin he wasn't a Red. He was a one c!ub very loyal Blue! A Diamond of a player. Thanks again some this Fabulous Tribute to a Fabulous Player, Gentleman and Icon. (The current Man City is a pale shadow of this man's Integrity)
This is one of the best football documentaries I’ve ever seen !! My dad and uncle and grandad were Millwall fans as we come from south London and I remember as a little boy how they always use to go on about Colin bell and he was ahead of his time and other players like Keith weller and frank worthington etc etc !! May the great man rest in peace 🙏🙏👍
I'm an Aussie, but my parents are from Manchester and mad Citizens. I recently bought my dad a framed top signed by 3 City players, one being Colin, and my dad said "did you know you were named after him?" I really had no idea lol, so thought I'd learn a little about my dad's favourite player and WOW what a player. I have to say, you did a fantastic job if this is your first attempt at a doc! Keep it up :)
GREAT DOCUMENTARY,,i met colin at the bell waldron back in 1978.i was a kid of 11,just cheekily knocked on his office door at the bottom of the stairs, couldnt believe he told me to come in and sit down whilst he signed his autograph for me,then chatted about a leeds match coming up which he was returning after another injury... i was at elland rd to witness colins goal but alas we went down, the guy will always be a legend and right at the top as a great
In 1968 an athletics coach employed by man city timed Colin at 47 seconds over 400m . he ran in football boots on a cinder track. He could have ran in the GB 4x400 relay team in mexico Olympics preseason to 68/69 . Great speed and stamina.
I'm a red but great documentary I hope more people watch it. Well done! The only thing I would disagree with is you say the CWC was the 2nd biggest European trophy. I would say the UEFA Cup was because it had the 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th best team the previous season. Usually one of those was the best team in the league the following season
Beautiful documentary. Had me crying. But mostly in awe of a fantastic human being. Since a kid in the 90s, watching videos of 70s City clips, I always wished I'd been able to be at those games watching the king. I don't even care that Bell doesn't get the recognition from other clubs, we as city fans should feel blessed to have had him. Thanks for your fantastic effort with this.
It has been my honour to see Colin Bell play and score for England (5-1 against Scotland 1975) and Wolves (LCFinal 2-1 1974) and so many times for City during the 70s. I was at that League Cup tie where he was injured. Regardless of what Colin Bell and Martin Buchan say, that foul tackle was deliberate as could be. Buchan took out Bells standing leg. I was in the Maine Rd main stand and saw the foul, and heard the scream vividly. I’ll never forgive Buchan for crippling a City and England legend.
The best player I’ve ever seen. I was there the night he received that terrible injury from Martin Buchan. Nobody could run like Colin. He could do everything on the pitch … shoot, dribble, head, tackle and an inspiring captain. He really was a King on the field and incredibly humble.
Can't believe I've only just seen this. Great film, really enjoyed it. Colin Bell is in the top 3 greatest ever City players. November 12, 1975 was my first ever derby match, and my first time on the Kippax, no one ever thought at that time that injury would effectively be the start of the end of his brilliant career. A fit CB, probably would have been the difference finishing 2nd in 76-77, he'd have probably got 15 league goals that season, and I'm convinced that would have given us the title, sadly not to be. I'm glad Buchan managed to sleep, fuckin scumbag. RIP Colin.
So glad you enjoyed it Wayne! You’re spot on re Colin; he’s obviously already a legend, but it really annoys me when people say ‘who’ when I bring him up Had he not got that injury at just 29 years old, I’m convinced he’d have gone down as one of the greatest to have played in England in the eyes of not just City fans, but all football fans
@@Nobbins yes, and following on from the disappointment of the Poland game in 1973, and leading up to the injury in November 75, he played in something like 34 of the 37 or 38 England games. Because of his supreme fitness, and at the age of 29, at the peak of his career, he could have easily gone on to play until he was 35 -36, I reckon he could have easily got to 80 caps+. Such a tragic loss to us and England
@@tomben6180 for me he was, I was lucky enough to see him play. Then along came David Silva, for me he's the greatest, but only just, then there's Sergio. Those 3, you could probably put them in any order in the top 3
Great documentary nobbins I really did enjoy that. Some of the editing and scenes were like the ones you’d see on Netflix parts where better than some I really enjoyed it 9.9/10 no benteke no 10/10 if u ever do this again there’s a few players I would recommend to do
I am now 64 years old. I have been a Tottenham fan since 1965. The best player I ever saw live was Glenn Hoddle...the 2nd...Colin Bell. How on earth do people rage on about Charlton when Bell was just extraordinarily great. Skilful, hard working, unpredictable...he would have been a world superstar these days. Just so glad to see some recognition. Hello. I've just watched this having recently subscribed. I have to say you did a magnificent job, and I'm sure the King himself would have approved. I only saw Colin play a few times, but of the three goals he's scored after his injury, I remember one of those in particular, a proper thunder-bastard away at Leeds. There was no one who got close in comparison until Silva and KDB. Taken away from us far too young. Thank You
As a Scotsman and Rangers supporter, What a player he was...we Rangers fans were in the pub talking about Citys current crop of great players , when someone mentioned Colin Bell...to a Man we all kinda nodded our heads, now yir talkin......appreciated everywhere.
That's very disappointing to hear. I was a united fan as a kid and admired Buchan as, a very mild mannered, gentleman. The challenge was one thing but not to show any remorse or visit the player in hospital is unforgiveable. RIP Colin.

Excellent video. Colin Bell was the reason I became a City fan, he was a fantastic footballer, and his career was cruelly cut short by Buchan the Man. Utd player, who knew exactly what he was doing. King Colin indeed! How about a video on Kenny Dalglish, another king of football?
Just watched your wonderful documentary on The King absolutely brilliant. For me The king will never be forgotten. I didn't know that Colin scored more than them other midfielders, thanks for them facts. Boxing Day 77 so emotional.
Great documentary on one of the greatest players ever in Manchester City's history. A great video, I really enjoyed it and glad to say that I was around to watch him. Those days were amazing, city were as good as it gets. Can you compare Colin with David silva? Yes you can but you can't put a rizla paper between them, times change and so has the way clubs are run, today our backroom is run so successfully by a basque and a catalan pairing, that was gentleman Joe's job, the coaching today is a whole team with pep heading it up, just as malcom did with his staff including Olympic runners. A good search on UA-cam will show david silvas football history in every detail but as city were not a fashionable club there's not a lot of detail about Colin Bell out there. A great biography about Colin is available, written by a true city fan, Ian cheeseman. God bless you King col. Left us too soon
I'm not a MAN City Fan BUT HE WAS TRUELY A GREAT One of my childhood heroes!! I wish Leed had him in the 70's And he should have bee English Captain in the 70's

My father says De Bruyne is how he would imagine a modern Colin Bell would be, my grandfather always said Colin Bell was 'modern' Peter Doherty, a player I wish we had more film of.
5:28 ... I bet ALL these geezers used to boast about how they played in the same side as Colin Bell! Where DID you get all this footage from? Fantastic documentary, so well researched....pace a tad too fast but...I think you have found your calling sir. Really, really well done. Also, as a Tottenham fan....LOVE hearing that Arse.nal missed out on him. LOL.
popped up on my homepage - brilliant watch, im not a City fan but a Wolves one, i didnt know we were looking at him all those years back.. and he sure wasnt to blame for the 1970 WC defeat, that was Astle's fault

we'll drink a drink a drink to colin the king the king the king, he's the leader of our teeeeeaam , he's the greatest inside forward that world has ever seen ........ ( if you were on the terraces in 60s and 70s you will know this song )
My father says De Bruyne is how he would imagine a modern Colin Bell would be, my grandfather always said Colin Bell was 'modern' Peter Doherty, a player I wish we had more film of.
This is brillant.
Thank you!
LOL.
Thank you mate! Basically all the footage (outside of the interviews I did) are available on UA-cam thankfully!
