Gentrification is a word invented to villainize people that are willing to come into an area put money into it and revitalize it and remove all responsibility from the who weren’t willing to do basics to keep up their property and neighborhoods and let it disintegrate and lose all of its value. My mother and father-in-law lived in the neighborhood exactly like that. They had a property that was a small two bedroom one bathroom house. Their house and a couple others were well-maintained on the block but the rest of them we’re just let to run down and deteriorate. Somewhere actually abandoned, and if you were actually torn down by the city. Then people started coming in and buying the properties, cheap and fixing them up. It was the best thing that could’ve ever happened to the people who still lived there and took care of their property. My mother and father-in-law‘s property values tripled in just 2 1/2 years. And they’re still going up. We didn’t have a single problem with a single person that came into the neighborhood and bought a property fixed it up and lived in it. We don’t care what color they are. Since when is your property values going up suddenly a bad thing. It always amazes me how we, Black people, can make anything about somebody else when is really about us.

Gentrification is a word invented to villainize people that are willing to come into an area put money into it and revitalize it and remove all responsibility from the who weren’t willing to do basics to keep up their property and neighborhoods and let it disintegrate and lose all of its value. My mother and father-in-law lived in the neighborhood exactly like that. They had a property that was a small two bedroom one bathroom house. Their house and a couple others were well-maintained on the block but the rest of them we’re just let to run down and deteriorate. Somewhere actually abandoned, and if you were actually torn down by the city. Then people started coming in and buying the properties, cheap and fixing them up. It was the best thing that could’ve ever happened to the people who still lived there and took care of their property. My mother and father-in-law‘s property values tripled in just 2 1/2 years. And they’re still going up. We didn’t have a single problem with a single person that came into the neighborhood and bought a property fixed it up and lived in it. We don’t care what color they are. Since when is your property values going up suddenly a bad thing. It always amazes me how we, Black people, can make anything about somebody else when is really about us.
