- Life In The Fast Lane isn't just a song about drugs. It's about being a working musician. 4 crazy days running around with guitar GIANTS & jamming with event attendees 'til between midnight & 1 am, coming home to be daddy for a day & then jumping on a red eye across the country to begin rehearsals for gigs coming up. This clip has nowhere near the detail i'd love to include at some point. This is just a quick recap of my personal exchanges with guitar icons. @stevelukathertube Steve Morse @PeterFramptonMusic @JoeSatriani @MateusAsato & so many more.
There are players coming up Phil that are in awe of you just like you are in awe of your heroes. That's what music does. Don't kid yourself, you BELONG in that group of legendary players.
You are such a likeable chap!
It's not a mystery.
Good things continue to come your way because you're a good person.
Continued success to you, Phil.
He's a good guy to everyone, even the nobodies.
Why bad things happen to good people?
Phil, It was a pleasure discovering you through G4, meeting you and actually jamming with you ("Rock Candy"). You made my night, and I'm sure that many of us "campers" felt the same way. Your jam room was so happening! You cultivated a well-organized, fun, inclusive environment, where players of all levels felt safe to play in front of a crowd of strangers. It almost goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway: you're a guitar player and singer of immense talent and charisma, and your repertoire is exceptionally vast.
I’m in awe that you give us a front row seat to all of these amazing moments. Thank You for bringing your infectious spirit to the rest of us.
Thanks for sharing Phil!
Glad you had an Awesome Time👍
Thanks for the story telling, love it!!
Isn't it interesting that you are in awe of all these guitar players and having the G4 Experience like a little kid in a toy store and not feeling like, but most of us know, that you are one of these guitar players. Thank you so much for being the awesome guitar player in a normal human body talking to us like we are one of your best friends!
Heavy, man. That Frampton story. Make those notes count. 👍👍💙
Thank you for sharing this. Love to hear about your experiences.
Been watching your vids since frettedamericana when i was 10 years old. Now playing pro. Keep it up you are an inspiration
I was 13 when that hit the stores/airwaves with Frampton. The two times I have seen him live over the years he always stole the show. One of the few performers that you never miss a minute of his set. What a gentleman and legend he is.
Great share from the road Phil. You guys are all badass inspirational guitar slingers. Didn’t know Frampton is having so many ailments to deal with & overcome. Lukather is a jaw dropper & Gales plays with fire. I don’t think X knows how to deliver anything under 11 !
Happy 2023 & as Bolan would say, Rock On❕
Hanging out with you & your son at dinner the last night of G4 was super fun and playing War Pigs together later that night was EPIC! Thanks so much for hanging out and jamming with us campers, you’re an awesome guy and a killer player! Hope to see you at future camps! Take care 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Great share… thanks
Thanks Philx, love everything you said and shared here. It's true about watching youtube, you get a small taste of kind of hangin' with that person.
Way cool, Phil. Thanks for this.
Steve Morse is one of my heros from way back in the early 80's when not many had even heard of him. I had seen articles about him in Guitar Player magazine, but first heard his music on an obscure college radio station @ Nassau Community College on Long Island. They played the whole The Introduction album & I was absolutely blown away.
I met Steve on two occasions, once at a "showcase" @ Royal Music (small music store) on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, NY....up close & personal. Blew me away & the doors off the place...and what a cool & gracious guy, who stayed after a long time to chat with fans, photos & autographs, signed guitars.
The next time was @ a small venue in Huntington, NY (name escapes me) I got him to sign my Ernie Ball Steve Morse model guitar & chatted a long time after the show. I continue to be in awe of the man, his immense talent & humility.
Thanks again, Phil... you're awesome, in your own right! I can't wait to see what's in store for us with your collaboration with Michael Anthony. I'm sure a tribute to Eddie will be in the mix somewhere, somehow!
RIP EVH 😢🎸💥🔥
Well said. Thanks for the inspiration.
This is wonderful!!! Here's a guy who deserves to be where he is on the world stage, yet is still in awe that he found it and greatly appreciates that he found it.
YOU ARE LOVED BIG TIME BROTHER!!!! You gave me the confidence to LOVE my OWN style!!! Thanks man, Joe
From within the mystery there is connective history.... and souls that glow. Have a calm and relaxing day today,

Glad I watched this. It is great to have heroes…even better to find out they are good people. I think it is important to show love, respect, kindness to others. We all only have a limited time to do what we love so enjoy it, stay humble, pass the torch.

Well said Phil!
Dude‼️ I love that you tell us about these moments because it shows me you’re a real human being with a heart, and we get off as musicians as local musicians on your stories, because it was that way when I met you and when I tell someone about when I met you there blown away but I just want you to know that you’re right up there with Steve Lukather , Peter Frampton, and when I see you at the next show in the Chicagoland area or the Indiana area or wherever I might see you and then Marius north west I will be sure to remind you how phenomenal of a guitar player you are, and how great of a human you are and the show U give on stage is freaking amazing ❤ so thank you for all you contribute to the music world and thank you for being who you are you inspire me to be a better musician and a better person every day keep being you Philx ❤

Your humility is refreshing and likely is a key to your deserved success. Peace and love.
Thanks for jamming with me @ G4 on ‘Ain’t talking bout love’! I really appreciate you talking time to chat with me as you came off the elevator when you heading out on Saturday ! Your Jam room really was a highlight of G4! -Jim
Love hearing you talk shop! You belong up there, as you are just as inspirational! I remember seeing Steve Morse with the Dixie Dregs in the late 70's.
Steve Lukather....1:14 .."Never hits a bad note" ... Yeah damn rite ..spot on ..💯
That is really awesome. Wish I was there to see the show. Keep rocken Phil.
You totally belong with these guys. It can't be only them, that "thing" must continue, and you totally are that. It's not just the jam, but the player that makes it work.
You worked your ass off and your fingers to the bone at times, you deserve to be where you are.... And you done it your way! Great to see you enjoying it. And GL to Gage.
Really enjoyed your commentary. Thanks for sharing. By the way, I'm sure they were in awe of you too!
My favorite musician. What a great person.
🤣 It's great to hear this level of honesty and kindness. We are all human. All different but a few of us (you guys) get to show the rest of us another level. Thank you.
Nobody knows everything, must be good to bounce off each other.
I am 53. Been a guitar guy and gear junkie since I was 20. Everything has changed so much. The 80’s got me hooked for life. I think we are a click of a generation that were so mind blown by the times and possibilities…..I would not trade those years for anything. I know this world is like upside down backwards in so many ways. Everything changes. See what happens down the tims line.
A JOY to watch 🙂
What makes this so amazing is that you are a fan first and foremost. Just like all of us!
well my keyboard is acting goofy. thank you kind sir for all you do an play.

Thank you Phil 🤘😎
A sincere and honest talk, man! Thanks!
A Canadian treasure, loved him in Triumph
Thanks for the insight !! Great to hear the passion from a touring professional and the rock fan you truly are !!🤘🤘
Well spoken Phil. I've learned through my playing and others that you hear and pick up bits and pieces of other players and mix them together to make your own style. It's like throwing notes in a blender. I picked out a small part of a lead by Elvin Bishop when I first started playing and never looked back. Basically 4 notes.
Sounds like such an amazing experience. Thanks for sharing!
Dont be a stranger Phil, I love the channel and videos. Really miss the crazy X 😢
