Love how you threw your arms up in the air, as to say, that's it im done. I doesn't get any cooler than Phil asking you what you did on the guitar! Definitely a cool moment!
Hey hey Mike cheers from Southern California, you know what you will always have brother? You will always have the jam with Phil X where you impressed him with one of your licks man!!!!
Every god damn time i see Phil X I am blown away at not only his playing, but how down to earth he is. Not many dudes with his talent can still resist a huge ego. But damn hes got some tasty licks.....He is a guitarists guitar player. Great video, and you got some skills too Mike!
I love Phil X's energy... that dude can play just about any style of music on guitar! I was always a fan of his show... it always seemed like he did a couple bumps right before they counted him down to go live!
I stood not more than 6' away from Phil when he came to the UK playing alongside Dorje in Brum and was totally & completely in awe of his musical prowess. Really enjoyable player !
Marvel: Infinity war is the most ambitious crossover ever. Mike: ..hold my beer But for real tho, this so sick!! :D 🎸🤘 awesome playing from both of you!
Nice. Two of the coolest and most down to earth players out there. I've been playing for 25 years Mike and watching you has bridged gaps in my knowledge I didn't even know was there.
This is my favorite has both Phil l & Mike you two need to play more you all sound amazing and it looks like both had a good time .. this is how I found you Mike with being a Bon Jovi and Phil X fan and doing a search
Phil X is a stand out guitar player with his guitar playing style. He is like the old players that come up with a wicked part to a lead that will stand out in a crowd. Allot of guys can do good lead solo's but there is some guys that stand above most all from doing a lead that stands out with the style of play and showmanship to where it is just as good to see as much as it is to hear. Showmanship like the greats from Eddie Van Halen for tapping and hammer on's , He is just as good to see live as well as hear live Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Steve Ray Vaughn All these guitars players are just as good to see live than to hear it live as well . Keep it up Phil. Keep Rockin Bro. Show em Canadian's can Rock with the best of them. Cheers Toronto Rocks!!
Hey mike great upload good to see two guitar virtuosos in the same channel. I used to love seeing Phil x on fretted Americana and its good too see him on your channel cheers 🍻🍺🍺🍺🍻🍻
@ 22:11 - Oh my goodness...I've died and gone to **Guitar-playing Heaven** - I could listen to the two of you jam all day long...you guys are **AWESOME!!!!** Excellent video!!!!! 💗💗💗
nice interview! can't beat a bit of phil x! one jam I'd love to see happen would be with Phil an ian thornley, that could potentially blow minds an melt faces!
Long time! Good to hear you again Phil, not just your licks but your voice on guitar playing and ideas about playing! Wish you the best and love seeing you on UA-cam! Love your Phil-osophy. See that? Yea Baby! Keep Rockin' Man! Fingers Fingers Fingers!!! Peace Out!
Phil X has such great tone and feel. Really relevant questions. Good to hear you still teach, I'd love to have a lesson or even just pay you to jam and learn that way 🤣 My guitar addiction is wholly supported by my wife who is a great singer.
Right on guys!! You both can jam!! I grew up listening to bon jovi "slippery when wet" a very underated band!! Also skid row and alice in chains, metalica, megadeath. Then came the grunge era with nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, red hot chilli peppers, greenday and soo many others greats. Those are alot of my guitar inspirations. Be yourself !!! incorperate those inspirations into your guitar playing very cool!! Rock on guys!! Thanks great video!!
Mike, Oasis and Noel Gallagher got me into playing guitar too, I think I started playing in 1996 too. Later realized Noel isn't the best guitarist but he writes the best tunes!
Phil X, lo sigo desde que probaba guitarras, un rockero de ley. Saludos desde Argentina, lugar del mundo donde las grandes bandas vienen a filmar sus films... ¿Por qué será? Saludos.
I liked those 9.5 gauge strings for standard tuning because of the 10s being too heavy and 9s being too light thing. But I am a one guitar person and had to ditch the 9.5s. If I have other guitars the strings go rusty without ever being used, so i make do with one. My current guitar is a 1990s Les Paul Studio with an ebony board and Whole Lotta Humbucker pickups. Unlike other Gibsons I have had, this one insists on 10s. Not sure why, but 10s make it come alive. It took about a month to really get used to the heavier strings and be able to do the stuff i could with lighter ones. it was a bit ouch for a while. p.s. i have known guitarists who use the keeping their callouses dry excuse for not doing their own dishes. p.p.s. Maybe i was snobby or something, but i always bought the more expensive Gibson models thinking the Studio and Special ones would not be as good. Not in this case. The guitar is fantastic. It makes me want a 1990s SG Special. I can do without the extra bling. Only problem is that I have worn the nickel frets flat really fast since I got it. i will go stainless i think. There is all this talk of them not staying in tune. I think it is BS tbh. If the nut is in good shape and you restring properly, the tuning is rock solid. Next guitar? i would like an old Guild acoustic. Always wanted one. The first guitar I ever bought was a 1955 Gibson Southern Jumbo. it cost a grand back then. i sold it to pay for a party and gig I put on with bands in my back garden. Doh. I did not really lose money on it though. That's the good thing about buying used guitars. Good ones hold their price. it lets you play the field a bit trying different ones out without it costing lots. Amp? I am using a Laney IRT Studio right now into Two Notes WOS and little active monitors. Apartment tones. Works very well. I prefer it to 100% modelling with Guitar Rig etc. I have some parts coming together to build a clone of a vintage Marshall 18 watter i will run with a Torpedo Captor. Sometimes i get into that Joe Walsh sound. He got some great tones, so i might build a Fender Champ clone one day too. A Captor will let me use them all without noise control turning up. Mike is from London? Sounds it. Maybe Essex. Tooting and then Milton Keynes for me. They kindly referred to us MK kids as 'London overspill' like were were part of the drainage system. Bloody toffs. Now i live in New Zealand. Really nice place, but I still miss England at times though.
For people who say Phil stole Richie Sambora's gig...educate yourself Muppets,he filled in for Rhichie when he went into rehab years ago..john phoned Phil personally to ask him to play for them.Phil was shocked as hell, and obviously you don't turn down a gig like that.. Richie Sambora then went AWOL again and couldn't play..so Phil stepped in again..he never had any intention of 'stealing' Rhichies gig.
Phil: "I don't sweep because fuck Yngwie". YESSS!!!!!! Tell the truth, Phil. You've watched Chappers playing and thought "I just want to snatch that guitar from him and slap a melody into his head."
Honestly, I enjoyed your playing much more. I don't think I'd like to see what is inside his mind...LOL! Anyway, you should be quite proud of what you did on stage at Guitcon. For me, you were the highlight of the week.
I finally got over the Battlestar thing when I hear you talk, but I swear, if you start talking to a woman that is not there, I'm so out of here...LOL! Seriously, I really liked your playing, how I would have tried to do it if I was there...though a bit 'rustier' at my age...LOL! Going through other stuff I see on you and I do like how you approach the guitar and a song. Made me wake up and take notice, which is hard to do nowadays, with 'grumpy old me'. So, make that 56k +1. Keep at it, the guitar is not dead yet.
Phil is a madman..he is the bi polar poster child for absolute guitar mayhem..i mean he will be tearing up a riff and then it's like..whoa squirrel..no van halen..no cheap trick..wahhhhhh yes get it baby....oh wait i forgot how that song went...what was i saying..epic shred......wahhhhhh...needs to change his name to just..awesome...and then call his band..just awesome..because thats is what is up with Phil x and his band(wont get into bon jovi)..Phil is one of those guys where your jamming..and your good..been playing for years and he just goes hey bro check out this riff..and then just fucking drops some madness in your lap and leaves you eating a bit of that humble pie and your only reaction is..dam!!!! yep Phil is that guy..just fucking awesome
Finally !! Finally !! Mike has found his true twin !! (for his youtube comparo videos) ... but i get a strong feeling when Mike calls up Phil to ask him to do a comparo video on his channel, Phil will respond in his best British (B*S!) 'I am not available................i could be wrong though...............
Cheers Joe, I did indeed, quite a few times. There's a cool video clip on my instagram using it. Will try and get the whole footage and put it on my youtube channel.
Eventually, one will put Phil X, Greg Koch and Devin Townsend in the same room. We already have Victor Wooten playing progressive metal, so anything can happen.
Mike Bradley......Hahahaha....those damn lapel mics must be heavy! Time for a turtle neck when recording! LOL.....BTW, I truly enjoyed your playing at Guitcon!!! Been subbed to you for quite a while now and your playing never gets old!!! Keep up the great work!
Great guitarist, character and a generally funny/nice guy. Then he was on my Twitter feed begging and crowdfunding for his mother-in-law's medical fees and got pissed off when people questioned the money he must be getting with Bon Jovi. Poncing when you are a big earner is the pits.
What can I say, the man is a legend!! Doing this video with him was very special, and what happened at the beginning made it even more so! 😀
Mike Bradley you certainly gave him a run for his money mike! Haha nice one! Really good video..didnt want it to end!
Hang on, Mike... I saw two legends! :-)
Love how you threw your arms up in the air, as to say, that's it im done. I doesn't get any cooler than Phil asking you what you did on the guitar! Definitely a cool moment!

Every god damn time i see Phil X I am blown away at not only his playing, but how down to earth he is. Not many dudes with his talent can still resist a huge ego. But damn hes got some tasty licks.....He is a guitarists guitar player.

Nice. Two of the coolest and most down to earth players out there. I've been playing for 25 years Mike and watching you has bridged gaps in my knowledge I didn't even know was there.
Aww thank you buddy, really appreciate your kind words.

Love the conversation, especially the one that started at 22:00.
Great. 2 musicians enjoying the power and love of music. Awesome.

I know right, Huge neck as well.
Gibson guitar shapes without the Gibson headstock shape can look kind of weird. But not this one. It works. Not that looks matter hehe
he is so wonderfully Canadian.Tx Mike.

Unforgettable moment with phillip😉
Unintentional pun: "crappy joke" -- while talking about bathroom jam sessions. That was solid.
Awesome vid and great playing from BOTH!
Great video, Mike! I'm a big fan of Phil-X. Keep the videos comin'!
Phil X is badass!!...great playing Mike!
Phil X has such great tone and feel. Really relevant questions. Good to hear you still teach, I'd love to have a lesson or even just pay you to jam and learn that way 🤣 My guitar addiction is wholly supported by my wife who is a great singer.

Phil is a ball of fun!
That H&K amp Phil X is playing is killer!
Mike, Oasis and Noel Gallagher got me into playing guitar too, I think I started playing in 1996 too. Later realized Noel isn't the best guitarist but he writes the best tunes!
Mark Pritchard Guitar yeah, if you wanna know how to write a tune , listen to Noel Gallagher
He sure does, can't take that away from him!
True statement
Phil X, lo sigo desde que probaba guitarras, un rockero de ley. Saludos desde Argentina, lugar del mundo donde las grandes bandas vienen a filmar sus films... ¿Por qué será? Saludos.

Love Phil X
Great how both guitars had different tonalitiies
GREAT¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
You know a guy loves bridge pickup sounds when that’s all he has. How about some neck...nope. Haha. Sounds good!
Wow!

Phil and Zakk wylde would be the funniest dudes to hang with….always upbeat, funny and having a good time….oh, and Greg Koch!
What the fuck! Can't believe what I'm seeing!
:-) Good stuff& great fun.
Eventually, one will put Phil X, Greg Koch and Devin Townsend in the same room. We already have Victor Wooten playing progressive metal, so anything can happen.
