- What can I say, Phil X is a true legend, and to top it off a truly lovely guy. Also having Phil want to know what I played on the Guitar is one of the best things that has happened to me as a Guitarist! :)

....................................................................................................................
Mike has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old, and from that first moment his love affair with music and the instrument began. Fresh out of school at the age of 16 he attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford and completed a year-long Diploma course.
After finishing the ACM his life as a full time musician began, playing in numerous bands and touring up and down the country playing iconic venues such asThe Shepherds Bush Empire, The Astoria, The Underworld and London’s Jazz Café. He’s also been fortunate enough to support industry legends Paul Weller, Blondie and Katie Melua.
Mike’s session work has led to his working on a variety of projects - from performing with stars such as Ricky Wilson and Diana Vickers, to appearing in many TV shows and adverts. Mike loves being on stage performing, but is equally at home recording in a studio - where he has worked with Alex Von Soos (All Saints, Seal, Atomic Kitten), Mike Horner (The Prodigy, Shakira, Bloc Party), and Mike Chapman (Blondie, Suzi Quatro)
What can I say, the man is a legend!! Doing this video with him was very special, and what happened at the beginning made it even more so! 😀
Mike Bradley you certainly gave him a run for his money mike! Haha nice one! Really good video..didnt want it to end!
Hang on, Mike... I saw two legends! :-)
Love how you threw your arms up in the air, as to say, that's it im done. I doesn't get any cooler than Phil asking you what you did on the guitar! Definitely a cool moment!
This Phil X guy gets around lol
Hey hey Mike cheers from Southern California, you know what you will always have brother? You will always have the jam with Phil X where you impressed him with one of your licks man!!!!
Great interview bro 🤘🎸🔥
Finally someone interviewing Phil who is just as cool!!
Check out Pete Thorn and Phil X together on the Guitcon videos.
Stop grovelling
1:43 is the bit that phil x wanted to know.
Damn'! His guitar sounds and looks fantastic!!!
I know right, Huge neck as well.
Gibson guitar shapes without the Gibson headstock shape can look kind of weird. But not this one. It works. Not that looks matter hehe
Unforgettable moment with phillip😉
Phil's guitar in this video is the sexiest race car. Damn what a tone...Love the blues jam!
@ 22:11 - Oh my goodness...I've died and gone to **Guitar-playing Heaven** - I could listen to the two of you jam all day long...you guys are **AWESOME!!!!** Excellent video!!!!! 💗💗💗
Aww thank you for the kind words Shauna, so glad you enjoyed the video :)
Phil X has such great tone and feel. Really relevant questions. Good to hear you still teach, I'd love to have a lesson or even just pay you to jam and learn that way 🤣 My guitar addiction is wholly supported by my wife who is a great singer.
Cheers Jay, drop me line if you ever want a lesson, I teach via Skype too. :)
@@MikeBradleyofficial Will do mate. Hope to be in touch soon 👍🏻
Two of my favorite beautiful souls from Guitcon rocking out and chilling together. Love it brother!!!! :-)
Aww thank you my man! :)
Long time! Good to hear you again Phil, not just your licks but your voice on guitar playing and ideas about playing! Wish you the best and love seeing you on UA-cam! Love your Phil-osophy. See that? Yea Baby! Keep Rockin' Man! Fingers Fingers Fingers!!! Peace Out!
That was really good mike! Well done bud!!!!
Phil X, lo sigo desde que probaba guitarras, un rockero de ley. Saludos desde Argentina, lugar del mundo donde las grandes bandas vienen a filmar sus films... ¿Por qué será? Saludos.
Unintentional pun: "crappy joke" -- while talking about bathroom jam sessions. That was solid.
Love Phil X
Wow!
Top 3 blokes I want to be friends with :
1/ Mike Bradley
2/ Mike Bradley
3/ Mike Bradley
Aww Jano, hopefully we can meet one day. I need to tour!!
Phil: "I don't sweep because fuck Yngwie". YESSS!!!!!! Tell the truth, Phil. You've watched Chappers playing and thought "I just want to snatch that guitar from him and slap a melody into his head."
Can I play a little bit!? Phil X is too cool and humble 👍
phils guitar looks like an sg from heaven
I know right, it's very cool!
You know a guy loves bridge pickup sounds when that’s all he has. How about some neck...nope. Haha. Sounds good!
1:43
Mike going with the 80's exposed chest hair...…………..NICE! hahahahahaaha
Haha.. the lapel mic just weighed down my top, those damm All Saint T shirts! haha
Mike Bradley......Hahahaha....those damn lapel mics must be heavy! Time for a turtle neck when recording! LOL.....BTW, I truly enjoyed your playing at Guitcon!!! Been subbed to you for quite a while now and your playing never gets old!!! Keep up the great work!
Yoda shirt you will...
Love Phils playing but the problem with this type of discussion is how either of these guys infer that if you solo simply it's somehow not good enough. Yeah, I get the educational aspect of what they are doing but playing electric guitar and writing songs is more about using the guitar as a tool to project an idea within the framework of music. If I had to measure anything I did against any of these people I would just say fuck it, I'm never gonna be able to solo like these guy's. Still I have yet to really be inspired to write music (songs) by most or any of the shredders, Phil included. Yes I admire the technique but I don't think Phil writes great songs. I don't buy his music in fact most of the music I do buy has basic meat and potatoes type licks and solos. The gimmicky nature of what he does is a turn off to me, still I wish him luck. Shredders killed Hard Rock since it was really all about the groove for me.
yo guys the sound is terrible. the quiet parts are way to quiet and the loud parts way too loud. not good.
Phil wasted him with the cheesy stuff
Why is Phil so gassy?
What is the deal with Phil X's tattoos, they seem random as fuck?
The one on his left arm is his dad's name in greek. I think the ones on his right arm are for his kids and either family members or close friends.
Great video bro! You guys killed it!
Thank so much my man, means a lot from you!
Great stuff guys the jam was really cool! 😎🎸
Thanks so much buddy! :)
Marvel: Infinity war is the most ambitious crossover ever.
Mike: ..hold my beer
But for real tho, this so sick!! :D 🎸🤘 awesome playing from both of you!
Eventually, one will put Phil X, Greg Koch and Devin Townsend in the same room. We already have Victor Wooten playing progressive metal, so anything can happen.
For people who say Phil stole Richie Sambora's gig...educate yourself Muppets,he filled in for Rhichie when he went into rehab years ago..john phoned Phil personally to ask him to play for them.Phil was shocked as hell, and obviously you don't turn down a gig like that.. Richie Sambora then went AWOL again and couldn't play..so Phil stepped in again..he never had any intention of 'stealing' Rhichies gig.
Mike mate... get your shit together ! ;) And find a way of shutting Phil up when he goes off on one...
Hot licks!!
Mate, what a killer video! Kudos to you for giving Phil something to think about!
Holy Jesus dying what a fucking jam bys!
@6:42 He IS one good lookin' son of a bitch.
I love Phil X's energy... that dude can play just about any style of music on guitar! I was always a fan of his show... it always seemed like he did a couple bumps right before they counted him down to go live!
Phil X is a stand out guitar player with his guitar playing style. He is like the old players that come up with a wicked part to a lead that will stand out in a crowd. Allot of guys can do good lead solo's but there is some guys that stand above most all from doing a lead that stands out with the style of play and showmanship to where it is just as good to see as much as it is to hear. Showmanship like the greats from Eddie Van Halen for tapping and hammer on's , He is just as good to see live as well as hear live Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Steve Ray Vaughn All these guitars players are just as good to see live than to hear it live as well . Keep it up Phil. Keep Rockin Bro. Show em Canadian's can Rock with the best of them. Cheers Toronto Rocks!!
Honestly mike..as a fellow boy south of the M25..im really proud of you..you came across really good in this video..a real pro!!! Well done fella!
The two guys i've learnt the most from on youtube!
I liked those 9.5 gauge strings for standard tuning because of the 10s being too heavy and 9s being too light thing. But I am a one guitar person and had to ditch the 9.5s. If I have other guitars the strings go rusty without ever being used, so i make do with one. My current guitar is a 1990s Les Paul Studio with an ebony board and Whole Lotta Humbucker pickups. Unlike other Gibsons I have had, this one insists on 10s. Not sure why, but 10s make it come alive. It took about a month to really get used to the heavier strings and be able to do the stuff i could with lighter ones. it was a bit ouch for a while.
p.s. i have known guitarists who use the keeping their callouses dry excuse for not doing their own dishes.
p.p.s. Maybe i was snobby or something, but i always bought the more expensive Gibson models thinking the Studio and Special ones would not be as good. Not in this case. The guitar is fantastic. It makes me want a 1990s SG Special. I can do without the extra bling. Only problem is that I have worn the nickel frets flat really fast since I got it. i will go stainless i think. There is all this talk of them not staying in tune. I think it is BS tbh. If the nut is in good shape and you restring properly, the tuning is rock solid.
Next guitar? i would like an old Guild acoustic. Always wanted one. The first guitar I ever bought was a 1955 Gibson Southern Jumbo. it cost a grand back then. i sold it to pay for a party and gig I put on with bands in my back garden. Doh. I did not really lose money on it though. That's the good thing about buying used guitars. Good ones hold their price. it lets you play the field a bit trying different ones out without it costing lots.
Amp? I am using a Laney IRT Studio right now into Two Notes WOS and little active monitors. Apartment tones. Works very well. I prefer it to 100% modelling with Guitar Rig etc. I have some parts coming together to build a clone of a vintage Marshall 18 watter i will run with a Torpedo Captor. Sometimes i get into that Joe Walsh sound. He got some great tones, so i might build a Fender Champ clone one day too. A Captor will let me use them all without noise control turning up.
Mike is from London? Sounds it. Maybe Essex. Tooting and then Milton Keynes for me. They kindly referred to us MK kids as 'London overspill' like were were part of the drainage system. Bloody toffs. Now i live in New Zealand. Really nice place, but I still miss England at times though.
Zillions of songs were written with an exercise guitar warm up scales. Ask Angus Young. I wanted to say ask Malcolm but we can't. Yeah, I am at that shitty age to where I get to see all my fav. artist from my youth die. I am at the very tail end of the Boomers. A couple yrs after the end. When I were 16 to 18 yrs old, all my fav's were older then. So now they are all like 70's. And dropping like flies! Fries? flies. Substitute an r for an L and they are tasty! lol Drop the fries please!
Phil and Zakk wylde would be the funniest dudes to hang with….always upbeat, funny and having a good time….oh, and Greg Koch!
nice interview! can't beat a bit of phil x! one jam I'd love to see happen would be with Phil an ian thornley, that could potentially blow minds an melt faces!
I stood not more than 6' away from Phil when he came to the UK playing alongside Dorje in Brum and was totally & completely in awe of his musical prowess. Really enjoyable player !
Phil X is right, have your influences, find your style, but always be you.
This guy looks like he could be Phils son.
Gaius Baltar's son...?
hahahaha, his secret love child! :)
brother...
VERY Cool! Show's that no matter who you are, you can always learn! Way to go Mike!!!!
GREAT¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
Every god damn time i see Phil X I am blown away at not only his playing, but how down to earth he is. Not many dudes with his talent can still resist a huge ego. But damn hes got some tasty licks.....He is a guitarists guitar player.
Great video, and you got some skills too Mike!
Thought about phil x today and found this video lol
Only one dislike. Must be a bassplayer.
You should have started the video saying “so, Phil X....tell me about your ankles.”
Theophilos .means , if i'm not mistaken . = friend of God . Theo is a nice abbreviation as well . Phil is a great guitar player .
I am in love with Phill! Sorry :p
Hey mike great upload good to see two guitar virtuosos in the same channel. I used to love seeing Phil x on fretted Americana and its good too see him on your channel cheers 🍻🍺🍺🍺🍻🍻
Awesome vid mike!! Saw Phil with his band a couple years ago and he was kick ass. Proud Canadian to boot 👍
Your brother must have been, like, totes jealous.
When are people who don’t play “high gain” gonna stop acting so high and mighty? No disrespect to Phil or anything but bands that play Heavy Metal are going to use more gain than you. There’s a time and a place for EVERY guitar sound.
Hi Andrew, yes of course, if you're playing that type of music, that is part of the sound. I guess we were talking more for a Blues/Rock n roll type sound.
Yep, totally resonate with that ! Sometimes blues/rockers have so much to prove themselves with the gear they use so they think they are on the "good" and "pure" side of guitar.. totally pointless and unmusical mentality. Virtuoso guitar players gets so much beating from their blues/rock counterpart.
Right on guys!! You both can jam!! I grew up listening to bon jovi "slippery when wet" a very underated band!! Also skid row and alice in chains, metalica, megadeath. Then came the grunge era with nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, red hot chilli peppers, greenday and soo many others greats. Those are alot of my guitar inspirations. Be yourself !!! incorperate those inspirations into your guitar playing very cool!! Rock on guys!! Thanks great video!!
Great video mate, and well played! Nice to see another 9.5 fan :) they saved my life after a finger injury when 10s were too much. Cheers!
Love the conversation, especially the one that started at 22:00.
Phil is a madman..he is the bi polar poster child for absolute guitar mayhem..i mean he will be tearing up a riff and then it's like..whoa squirrel..no van halen..no cheap trick..wahhhhhh yes get it baby....oh wait i forgot how that song went...what was i saying..epic shred......wahhhhhh...needs to change his name to just..awesome...and then call his band..just awesome..because thats is what is up with Phil x and his band(wont get into bon jovi)..Phil is one of those guys where your jamming..and your good..been playing for years and he just goes hey bro check out this riff..and then just fucking drops some madness in your lap and leaves you eating a bit of that humble pie and your only reaction is..dam!!!! yep Phil is that guy..just fucking awesome
The man is a pure legend, and to top it off a lovely guy as well! and like you say he's nuts which makes him even cooler! haha
What the fuck! Can't believe what I'm seeing!
that was awesome, always love to watch phil x play;-)
Awesome vid and great playing from BOTH!
Finally !! Finally !! Mike has found his true twin !! (for his youtube comparo videos) ... but i get a strong feeling when Mike calls up Phil to ask him to do a comparo video on his channel, Phil will respond in his best British (B*S!) 'I am not available................i could be wrong though...............
hahaha.. who knows ay! :)
Not only is Phil a great musician he's a great down to earth guy. I'm lucky to have met him.
Phil X is badass!!...great playing Mike!
Great job. Great interview - PhilX looked like he was really enjoying it. And your playing on this and in the Yasi Hofer jam was awesome.
Thanks so much buddy!
Great interview! Noel is great, Mike is great, and so is Philx.
I love the jam always come back to listen to it. 😌
Honestly, I enjoyed your playing much more. I don't think I'd like to see what is inside his mind...LOL! Anyway, you should be quite proud of what you did on stage at Guitcon. For me, you were the highlight of the week.
Thank you so much buddy, that truly means a lot to me.
I finally got over the Battlestar thing when I hear you talk, but I swear, if you start talking to a woman that is not there, I'm so out of here...LOL! Seriously, I really liked your playing, how I would have tried to do it if I was there...though a bit 'rustier' at my age...LOL! Going through other stuff I see on you and I do like how you approach the guitar and a song. Made me wake up and take notice, which is hard to do nowadays, with 'grumpy old me'. So, make that 56k +1. Keep at it, the guitar is not dead yet.
Phil X wears a Mike Bradley T-shirt, .......... he does!
Nice. Two of the coolest and most down to earth players out there. I've been playing for 25 years Mike and watching you has bridged gaps in my knowledge I didn't even know was there.
Aww thank you buddy, really appreciate your kind words.
The part Phil is referring to is at 1.43 mins.
No sweep picking could he get any cooler 😎
Phil is a ball of fun!
This is my favorite has both Phil l & Mike you two need to play more you all sound amazing and it looks like both had a good time .. this is how I found you Mike with being a Bon Jovi and Phil X fan and doing a search
Glad you came across me buddy. Yes was a great time filming with Phil. Hopefully we will do more down the road. :)
Fantastic interview Mike ! Thanks to you and Phil X !
just the kind of video i need after a bad day
phil x... lol y did u have to str8 beast on this kid?? loved every second. u are the man
LEGEND
Very high quality vids. Great job!
I know, I need a 4K rig now! :)
That H&K amp Phil X is playing is killer!
Im loving this series. So badass.
Great how both guitars had different tonalitiies
Some times its best to get out of the way...
Great guitarist, character and a generally funny/nice guy. Then he was on my Twitter feed begging and crowdfunding for his mother-in-law's medical fees and got pissed off when people questioned the money he must be getting with Bon Jovi. Poncing when you are a big earner is the pits.
That dude is very cool but seriously, your playing in that intro was next level! Those Framas guitars look awesome too!
Thanks a lot buddy, means a lot. Yes they truly make fantastic guitars!
Mike Bradley they look heavy though?
The ones I played weren't, though Phil's is a good chunk of wood!
Phil X you are on another level
Two great players..one great video!
I hate you and I love you, Mike! You know what I mean.
hehe I know exactly what you mean Chris! :)
:-) Good stuff& great fun.
Very cool indeed
Great video, Mike! I'm a big fan of Phil-X. Keep the videos comin'!
Awesome mike. Luvs it
