I broke a finger and tore a chunk of skin on my hand trying to replace mine on my El Camino. Wish I would have came across this video sooner. Good work man.
I just did my window motor (4 times ,different cars). To make your job and mine easier after drilling the holes ( I used an angle grinder and quickly cut three one inch square holes) here's some more tips- 1.,leave the motor plugged. 2. pull the motor and plug out of the bottom hole. 3.Now the motor can be easily unplugged 4.plug in the new motor then insert it thru the lower hole...easy
I immediately went to this video after the first video that I clicked on had the guy say, "I'm going to attempt to replace the window motor." I don't need attempts. I need to see videos from people like you that know what they are doing! I skipped around a bit because I was just using it as a reference, but nice tip of using the screwdriver to hold the window up!
Carnal this update needs to be done on my 86 cutlas, gracias i hope and it’s the same on mine, Also i believe you have them connected to your alarm where they go up/down with your alarm remote.👌🏽 i want mine to do that. Thank you carnal maybe one day we meet each other so i can checkout your rides. 🤝🤝👌🏽😎
Have an 83 Toronado and this video has given me the courage to tackle my faulty window. I stopped when I saw I could not access the bolts. I will let you know how it turns out! Thank you for this video!
Yeah it kinda sucks that we have to cut holes in the door to access the bolts but having a working window is even better. Let me know how that turns out. Thank you for watching 🔥🔥
It can be done without making those holes, but you'll have to remove the window, window regulator, and pull out the motor attached to the regulator as one. It's a lot of work to replace the motor. That's why I chose to make those holes. Save a lot of time. Thank you for watching 🤝💯
@@StillStandingGarage Most def, appreciate it brodie! Following your lead to save time, besides I may have nuked the motor fucking with the wires because it doesn't go in either direction any more.
I have to replace both of my window regulators on my 84 Eldorado. I’m hoping it’s the same way. G body should be G body. Awesome video and I hope this helps a lot!
Thanks for the video, I am getting ready to replace mine on an 85 cutlass. I was wondering how I was going to get those bolts out without the room for them to come out.
Thank u so much. My window on my grand prix went down but wont come back up.Im assuming i have to change regulator. Is it same for Driver side Thank u .Terry
If you took the doors off the regal or the Monte, how did you disconnect the wiring connector from the car to the door? Just use a trim tool and it unplugs?
When I took off the doors on the '78 Monte I disconnected everything from inside the door and left the harness attached to the body. As I was cleaning the jambs I realized the harness has a plug that can be disconnect to remove the part of the harness that goes to the door. This plug is inside the hole of the body and is long enough to pull out and disconnect. I'm sure it's in one of my Monte videos. Most likely the video right after I removed the doors and started cleaning the jambs.
Love the screwdriver trick! I was always curious as to what to do with the windows when you remove the motor. Great video! Now I just need to replace the sweeps on the driver’s door. Any videos on that?
hey bro is it just me or does that new motor really not that much faster? Do you know if they offer faster ones by price range? or they all the same? oh yeah love the videos homie keep it up
It works a bit better, but yeah not that noticeable. It works a lot smoother than the old one. I know they make modules to add to the window motors to make them work faster but I'm good with this for now. I believe all window motots will be relatively the same. Thanks for watching 💪💯🔥
Yeah, they should have made access holes. Or maybe there's a different way to replace these. I still haven't found a better way. Thank you for watching 🤝💯
It's just a 1/4" drill bit held in with a screw. Zero reason to go buy a new hole saw. There is a flat on the side of the bit where the screw engages that you need to grind in.
Though you made it look ez I have an 84 grand prix and that same window gets stuck I have to assist it also.. but shyt I have cut the medal to get to the bolts 🔩 🤦no me gusta lol
This was the most comprehensive video i've seen on how to do it.
Appreciate it 💪💯
I watched 5 other videos on this. Yours was my favorite.
Thank you. I really appreciate that. Thank you for watching 🤝💯.
Watched your video when I did my driver’s side, just watched it again for the passenger. Thanks again!

Glad my '80 MC has the holes pre-cut already. You did a nice job explaining, improvising, and keeping a cool head. Nice work.

I always loved those regal seats, like driving around in a living room chair :D
Yeah it's a different feeling when compared to modern cars
Yeah My 1980 Buick Century is called the driving living room😂

Is the motor the same for left and right
Yes, the mounting bracket can be swapped for a left or right.
I wana replace a 82 cutlass on my sons car but I’m scared ima bust off all the plastic clips can u buy some and replace them or is it easy ?
They come off pretty easy but if you break some you can find replacements on Ebay...They're not hard to find
@@StillStandingGarage You can also get them at most auto parts stores
Nice!
One motor fit's both sides or you have to oder L Or R motor Thank's
Yes, same motor fits both sides. The mounting bracket is the one that changes for each side.
@@StillStandingGarage ok thank's Buddy😎

Yes, it'll be the same from '78 to '88

If my window don’t go down or up on my 85 cutty you think it’s the motor
I would check to make sure you're getting power to the motor before you replace it
So is the money Carlo paint it already
Working on it now...finishing up on the final sanding #StillsAnding lol

Are both motors the same or is their a left an right side motor
No, they're the same. The bracket can be located on either side to make it work for a left or right side.
Thanks .. that was the only hold up for me not ordering ..Awesome video as well !!!
No problem, and thank you 🤝💯
Gm keeps it easy!...simple asf!...thats why I only buy GM cars/trucks
Sure seems like a poor design that you have to use a hole saw to replace the motor. Glad you got it fixed
