Man that was so articulate. I would rather not have these holes on my door. Anyone know how to bypass a faulty passanger side window switch to use driver side switch only till I get around to getting a new one?
You’d have to jump the signals from the drivers side on the passenger side switch plate to bypass the passenger switch….might as well just get the switch as that would be faster.
Just replaced my motors in my 1986 Monte Carlo SS and after doing so I noticed that seven minutes into the video you mentioned a key point that I observed when replacing mine... The originals are riveted in. Therefore this video and your technique to replace only applies to somebody that’s already had their window motors replaced once in this particular manner . The 4 small screws and nuts in the bag is to bolt the new bracket to the new motor before placing in the door.
I thought I mentioned it. The rivets are the easiest to remove because once you knock out the center stud with a punch the rivet is all aluminum and drills out like butter.
@@VenomGT87 No worries. I appreciate you sharing the video to help others as much of the disassembly of the outside is relevant. Additionally you may have purchased the vehicle with the motor already replaced enabling you to remove the motor in the manner you described. Regarding the rivets, they are not as you described and not necessary to remove but that’s OK since yours were already removed and the bracket was already positioned inside the vehicle rather than bolted to the motor. If you look at your video you will see three bolts that attach the motor bracket to the inside of the door regulator. Then what somebody has done is drilled the four outer perimeter holes of the bracket and placed bolts through them as well as, I suspect, opened up the holes in the four points where they mount to the motor in order to enable these bolts to fit through. What I did was remove the 3 bolts you left untouched (one is visible in your video) that were holding your bracket in place with an open end 13mm wrench. This allowed me to drop the motor with the riveted bracket attached to the motor down. I then took the new bracket, used the hardware included to bolt it to the new motor, then installed the assembly with the three bolts. When I get back to the shop I will post a video describing what I’m talking about.
When I replaced my power window motors, I never reached inside the door. Where there are dimples in the door frame, I took a one-inch hole saw and cut them. Made it way easier.
You still had to reach in there to grab the motor, disconnect it and plug it back up...lol I did mention that method and honestly its one of those 6 in one hand and half dozen in the other; just preference.
I have a 85 monte carlo cl, it has after market power windows and both motors needs replacing, I can't even reach the bolts to take off motors not sure what my next step is!
I'm trying to find them and can't seem to pull up any parts off pui website. I like them. What do you not like about them. If anyone has a direct link for me to find them I would appreciate it.
Depends if you get lucky and get a good one. I have come across 4 different versions of the same motor. 2 of which felt cheap in the hand (if that makes sense) and were much slower and noisier than the rest. (All tested with ground and power back-fed through the switch to eliminate speed variances due to the cars grounding)
If you’ve cleaned all the grounds on that wiring harness and the switches, pull them out and bench test them, if they cant pull the tip out of your fingers you can either crack them open clean them up and try again or replace them. Usually it is just poor/dirty connections because its all solenoids that rarely go bad.
No, but I’ve hear of the “window racer” and the “window turbo” which are some boxes that you plug to the fuse box and speed up even the old motors but for $140-170 I rather clean the ground for the window circuit and replace both motors for $60
Pull the driver side panel off and clean the ground for the windows its a little 7mm screw with a wire, then add another 10-12 gauge wire and run it thru the loom to the bolt that holds the dash right above the parking brake pedal, that will fix it and may even speed up your window turbo as well.
bro yes you should have done a edit of the side by side comparrasing but also you could have demonstrated the the finish product speed at the end not just ended with no show! you literately rolled it one time! smh
love your content
Thank you!

Bro your doors are clean AF.
Thank you!
Haha! It was! I was like wth, mine didn’t look that good in the 80s when it was a few years old.
Where did you get the upper door panel
If I recall these came from Highway Stars

What hardware did you use to remount the regular to the door. What size rivets or either what size bolts will fit
I replaced all the rivets with 1/4-20 some half inch, some 3/4 long.

same here
Do you have link for the clips I really would appreciate it
Look up “GM door card clips” on Amazon or eBay.
@@VenomGT87 thank you
Man I need this
Good Video!! Just got my new window motors to replace the slow ones, took FOREVER! Can’t wait! Gbody!!!
Thank you for the info
Excellent Emilio. Very useful information for the future. Keep up the great work..
Thank you!

After market with a stock regulator?
@@VenomGT87 Not sure!
What kind of glue did you use for the trash bag vapor barrier?
Butyl tape. Make sure to use one of those thick trash bags otherwise it will look like garbage...lol
VenomGT87 Lol, I see what you did there.
😂
so helpful real great quality good work brother
I like the door panels where did you get them thanks in advance
These came from Jegs, IIRC those were PUI. I am not a fan but they are as good as it gets for repops.

Sick car thanks for the upload,I’m trying to wire in a new passenger switch and have no idea what wire is what
I seen how u rolled up the window. My New Cardone motors move just as fast
Cardone is the way to go. My opinion.

Gotcha
Need to pull the interior door panels back off. Know any way to get the power locks to work better ? Both just quiver.

The car looks great man
U ever hear of some fast traveling window motors? Heard someone was supposed to be making them but never saw where to buy them.

Where can I purchase the clips for the door panels? Just in case I break a few
The parts place sells them.
You can get them at any auto parts store. You will pay more for less though.
Where did you get the upper and lower door panels again ?
Uppers are PUI the lowers are the ones I had.
I noticed the Can Do license plate frame. Were you a Seabee ? I was '67 - '71. Vietnam '70 - '71.
Was an SW (SCW) with NMCB 11
what hardware did you use to mount the motor onto the bracket?
Hardware store 1/4-20 bolts and lock nuts.
@@VenomGT87 cool. I appreciate the info. Good video very helpful.
Where did you the clips?
eBay
Can I get you to do mine, I also have a ttop Monte Carlo
