Im....im....im....drifting back, the hair, my hot rod LeMans, sweet sweet Jeanine by my side. We had ALL the best songs and bands. Nothing will ever come close to 70s 80s early 90's We were very lucky
I was in this audience when I was 18 years old! It was my first and only trip to California. I wish I could locate the entire episode, for sentimental reasons.
Wow can't believe I stumbled across this video. He had 3-4 strong hits and a big following around the Indy area since he grew up not far away. He played one year for our company Christmas party and was solid. Things got dark for him a few years ago with some arrests and other issues, not sure where he's at today but hope he's doing well. He had more fans than even he knew I'm sure.
He's still around the Indianapolis area--he still performs a little. I saw him at the Chris Isaak/Lyle Lovett concert at Everswise Ampitheatre Downtown, in 2022. As tall as he is, he's kind of hard to miss! 🤣 He looked pretty good!
I saw HLS live in Costamesa, Cal. He was the opening act to Chicago, my favorite band, I traveled from Mexico City to LA only to see my favorite band (09-1989). I did not know about HLS, I think very under reted artist. Since then I listen very much to his music.
Being from Indiana there's was two rockers who made it big one was John Cougar (Mellencamp) and the other was Henry Lee Summer. I was always jamming to both of there music.
I met him at Far Out Music in Jeffersonville, Indiana right after he got signed. He couldn’t have been nicer and more encouraging to a young musician. I’ll never forget it. Thanks HLS!!!!
Henry plays every Wednesday at Good Times Bar and Grill now and most Saturdays with "The Good Times Bar Band". He is the leader of the band. Good Times Bar and Grill 8916 S. Meridian St. (county-line rd & s. meridian st corner) Indpls, In 46217
Growing up in Indianapolis everyone knew of Henry Lee Summer and John (Cougar) Mellencamp. It would've been great to see Henry have the same success as John.
He has a great voice, it's a shame he didn't have any hits after this. At least none that I know of. I only remember hearing this and "I Wish I Had A Girl" on the radio.
Timing is everything. He hit it too late. He just started getting rolling when Curt Cocaine and the grunge scene came. Wiped him and many artists off the map. Trends? Grudge is the biggest stain the music industry has ever known. Sorry millennials.
Very talented musician and he needs to remember this. He is very capable of doing anything he wants to do. Great music. Hope you continue to do well and hope to hear and see you soon.
LIfe was good then Henry! I enjoyed your live perofmances often back then in Indianapolis ... especially a new years eve at the (Adam's Mark hotel?) You did great. Hope to see you soon in Fishers with the Alligator Bros.
On a whim in '88, I bought the Henry Lee Summer self titled album at Payless in scenic LaGrande, OR. Every song was good, what a voice. In '89, went back for the incredible second album. He bumped some major artists down the charts, Robert Plant wasn't too happy w/ HLS's Billboard presence.
I ve been looking for this song since the first time I heard it plus there was a video to it. I only heard it once back in the day. Gave up the search. Came across it today. I know there's a better recording of it somewhere I just don't like live music.
Hilarious. Like converse were strange. I tried to get a pair in the late 90s and NOBODY in town even sold them. Now everybody does and they're 60 dang dollars!
@@lisaohl5004 Indianapolis....he played there pretty frequently back in the 80s....he still shows up around Indianapolis from time to time...I know there's some newer videos of him on here that were recorded there
Like me some Henry Lee Summer just a good ole Hoosier boy who made it , he's had his trouble but he came back swinging , u gotta love that

I love this song. I don't know why it wasn't more well-known.
Somehow this is a notch better than even the studio version. Surprising! Lots of people go nuts on stage but few can stay on key like that!
In 2021 are you still listening to Henry Lee Summer?
Yup

Of the two Henry is the better singer but John is the better songwriter

Totally not feeling HLS at all...LOL!!! Thought I was the only one who notice that....

I'll take it if she doesn't want it.
Where'd you go Henry we miss you
what happened to the original music video?
Where is the music video that was played incessantly on VH1????
In this day 10 feels like 50
it's nice to see mimi, but i miss rick bennick on guitar, and micheal on key's
I couldn't even tell if that was Rick lol
Don't make music like this anymore
are the bass and guitar players women? i cant tell
I know Rick Benick from the original Roadmaster band was his guitarist for years...but I couldn't tell if that was him lol
Henry Lee made it to the big time and the evils of drugs took him away.🥲
