I love the part where chopin says its choping time and choped all over the piano, truly a chopin moment of all time
Xd
banger
His Notes truly do slice the piano
i loved when he said its chopping time and he went to the grocery store
Chopin was one of the composer's of all times
As a fellow pianist, that internal monologue is too true. I always had to make it a point to sit down at the piano and tell myself that nobody cares anyways and to just play. No thinking and let the music flow.
Same here. Each and every time I play piano, I have that same monologue. Just let the music flow and I have to tell myself that u know what you’re doing, just play 😊👍🏽
I can relate to this...helps me all the time.
Annique!! I really hope you read this before your exam: when the auditorium is full, the echo will be significantly reduced. You must be ready for that. Wishing you the very best for your exam!!
The sheer idea of playing all the 24 etudes in a single concert is equally terrifying and electrifying, you really don't lack the courage and a certain amount of insanity to undertake such a quest. Best of luck
Btw I really like your general interpretation more focused on line and melody and less on technical bravura, it is evident since the op 10 n. 1, too often used just as a show off of "look how fast I can play arpeggios"
My new bug. Watching amazing pianists with text narration.
Takes us on the mental, physical and emotional journey with you. The frustration, the elation, the pain. All mixed in one.
Keep up the great vids
Now I've heard this I need to resist spending the next 3 hours listening to Copin. Gets me every time.
Such an accomplishment to master the whole set of Chopin etudes! Hope your piano journey flourishes to your life’s content! Beautiful
I look forward to being in the audience and crossing my fingers for you during your exam ☺
Thx for the sneek preview 😄
Im never one to go overboard, but if this is the way you play just to prepare, ans this is the way you sound, Annique, I love every one of YOU, and every nuance of your every note. I will be praying for strength, clarity, and courage at every minute of your performance.
A yes… I hear the bells of simp alert are ringing. ~ Beethoven
Lots of echo in the hall and you want to sound crispy. There's this story about Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli (ABM) who was to play Carnegie Hall (~2,000 seats). He wanted a crisp sound that still was appreciated at the back rows. ABM assumed that all those people and their clothes would absorb so much of the higher frequencies that this would have a dulling effect. So he instructed his piano tuner/technician to voice the piano brighter. When that man was done, ABM played the instrument and said, "make it brighter". Supposedly the voicing was repeated two times, still.
He played the concert and the next morning in one of the reputable US newspapers (like NYT or WP), the reviewer wrote that ABM had played beautifully, only the piano sounded ugly bright.
Moral of the story: an empty concert hall has more echo than one filled with people. And, a reviewer on row 11 center front of stage has a different experience than a listener at row 25. And, don't make it too bright. You probably do not have access to a technician who would voice the piano for you (by working the felt of 88 hammers), so that's a given. But still.
Or if you have a choice of different instruments, you could ask for the Fazioli that has more delineated notes (but a bit less sustain).
Fascinating.
@Martin Baldwin-Edwards - thank you for your addition to make this even more fascinating. Yes, calling him oddball is a good alternative to enigmatic.
One less serious remark: what? A Baldwin plays a Yamaha?
Sadly I can't be there to hear you play live, but we can hear through the whole internet and back how great it sounds even if you're still in your preparing phase. I wish you all the best for your exam, and thank you for your insights in this video; love your way of playing and approaching the piano so much!
BRAVO ! Standing Ovation. I'm in absolute awe of your skill. Fun for me, hope it was fun for you.
Elle joue très très bien, avec beaucoup de sensibilité. Être capable si jeune de jouer les 24 études d'affilée est une sacrée performance ! Bravo !!
I like Marc-Andre Hamelin's approach to performing where he says he is "making an offering" to the audience. So it's up to the audience to utilise that offering however they will. He says this is one reason he does not get nervous when performing. I like this thought process.
Good luck on your exam. That's a lot of Chopin to cram into your head all at once. I'm sure you'll do great. Just relax, concentrate on the music, and forget everything else around you.
Good luck!
We're all cheering for you!
You honestly sound so good!! I always really like your interpretation of these etudes (especially the op 10 no 3 and 9). Hope to see you live one day when you're performing near me. Good luck finishing up your exam preparations!!
For people who don't live there and follows you It would be nice to be able to watch the concert online 🙂
It really is a gift to hear you play!! I’m so glad i stumbled upon your first 1 minute 10 minutes 1 hours challenge
You’re amazing. I wish I could be there to hear you. I ❤ you.
That was beautiful! Talent, hard work, and perseverance, truly pay off! You will do excellent on your exam!😀
You have found a wonderfully musical and elegant voice for the etudes! You will be great!
Literally every one of your videos is worth its time
Omg, your performance is gonna be amazing if it sounds just as in the video, you're such an awesome pianist ❤️✨
You are my inspiration annique, 🥰 I play the piano for u and ur tips.
Omg, you must have an amazing memory 😅 I’m doing my grade 8 piano, hopefully in November. You are my inspiration!! Good luck for your exam, you’ll nail it absolutely 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
I don't care what anyone says, she is an Awesome classical pianist, love watching her, plus she has such a sense of humor!!! 💜
Am relearning how to play the piano, used to sing, first Soprano, not now, so I have have a new passion in music, my piano. Mostly self taught. Try to play every day! My repertoire is first four pages of Moonlight Sonata, Exodus, Feelings, a few etudes, and an exercise that my mom taught me, she played the piano quite well, and now I am learning Fur Elise by Beethoven. I love Classical. After this I will tackle George Skaroulis's "Divinity of Dogs", gorgeous piece.
I think there will be less echo when there is audience in the hall. So far so good. I wish you all the best for your exam.
That was so beautiful! Can't wait to hear full etudes! You're my inspiration annique 😘
I'm 32, I started to learn all the etudes, and now I found your channel. What a happy coincidence! 😀I'm sure the concert will be amazing.
Good luck!
What a kindly girl, what a nice playing, what a beautiful compositions ♥️♥️
I want to go to the concert so badddd but it's too far away :') We'll be cheering you on from all over the world, you totally got this!! And don't panic if you get a note wrong, nobody's perfect :~
Annique, you are a very tough person and an incredible pianist. GOOD LUCK!!
I love your c major etude must be one of the most thought out renditions I’ve heard slightly
I really enjoyed this. You’re a wonderful player. Technically and musically. Fingers crossed and thumbs up!
Annique you 're truly amazing ! Your interpretation is wonderful ! I wanted to ask if you could make a video where you explain how to make an inner voice sound louder when it's a part of a chord. I need this because I currently practice Mozart's sonata no 8 in a minor first movement and there is a part in the development that focuses on that technique . It would be really nice of you if you could do this 😊
Sounds soooo good already! I‘m super impressed
All the best for your exam! Appreciate your hard work and talent. You are beautiful, generous and an inspiration! 💖
It's not just the Steinway that sounds amazing.... i love your sound 🤩
Sounds great, Annique, keep it up and don't overthink. You'll do great. Don't forget slow practice!
Werde auch dabei sein. Ich freu mich!
Great to see the insights on what goes into a concert! Thanks for this and good luck for the exam!
Only someone like me who has spent years with those etudes and is nowhere near being able to play them all, or even more than two, can appreciate your achievement. Supposedly after mastering them, the whole repertoire becomes a piece of cake, so that might be the biggest hurdle of your entire career, well done !
I looooove your style of playing 🥰😍 Good luck for your exam, I'm sure it will be awesome 😊
I’ve been playing the piano since I was about 7 (30 now) and I am always amazed at this level of expertise. I wish my fingers were that agile and expressive. Super impressive!
You sound wonderful Annike! The piano sounds quite bright on its own and most of the eco will dissipate as the hall gets filled with people. (Invite lots of people, all your friends, aquaintances... the baker ...the butcher ...anyone you know! ). Love your interpretation of the etudes and don't worry about wrong notes now, you never whant a perfect dress rehearsal. My piano teacher (long performing career besides teaching) used to say that a few wrong notes the day before the performance/exam are a good omen that you will play very well on performance day. On the other hand, whenever I played perfectly (by my own standard of course!) the day before the exam, I always messed it up at performance day 🙂! Indeed, she was right! But above all, I hope you will enjoy yourself on the day of the exam; because if you do, you will be creating a happy memory that will last you a lifetime Are you going to have your sister recording the performance? (please forgive my selfish thought!). You can do it Annike, go for it!
Incredible. How do you ever remember all this?! To me it's nothing short of a miracle.
The miracle of practicing 8+ hours every day for over 20 years
Well, that means there's hope even for the less-than-miraculous me. 🤣
Das konzert wird göttlich😉
Im Gegensatz zu den Videos aus deinem arbeitszimmer wirkst du sichtlich nervös. Das musst du nicht. Du bist eine sehr gute und routinierte pianistin. Das wird schon werden😊😊😊
You will do just fine, Annique.
This is so great! I hope you are so proud of yourself! I love the "cello" etude.
my dad also is in the music university and played the same songs. Love you ❤
From Brazil... Wishing you a great performance on the 14th!
Bravo!! I'm sure you will pass the exam with the highest mark! I hope to listen to you play live in Belgrade some day 😊 Good luck!
I played 12 of them and nothing equal to the way you play them. You're good kid.🙏 BRAVO 🌹
Amazing playing but keep in mind that the eco is so big because the hall was empty, probably when it will be full the echo will be so much smaller than that so keep it in mind. Anyway, U GOT THIIISSS
Ready for Exam!?
Music:
Chopin Etudes OP 10. & OP. 25
I would never want an exam like that ahaha, I mean being able to play them all, OFC but imagine being examined on 58 Min of music lol
@@francescololiva5826 Cool 32 seconds ago
@@vishwakmusic9314 yeah so what
@@francescololiva5826 Thought it was cool
@@vishwakmusic9314 oh ok lol nice
I just did a CD recording including the op. 10 for a great pianist here in Germany. Fun to run into them here again :D
Annique knows how to put the "show" in Chopin.
Wow, amazing sound!!! Simply incredible! Bravissimi 👏👏👏
Wow 10-1 was really clear would love to hear all 24 of them great work
👏👏👏❤️👍🏼🙌 You are really a fantastic pianist! Brava!
I am so jealous....
Stay cool and healthy!
👌👍😎❤
It sounds really good! Good luck on your exam. :)
Bravo! You are such a musical and talented pianist! Congratulations for you!
good luck on ur exam today!!
everthing was beautiful, including your dress
Ich habs grad erst gesehen, aber viel Glück morgen :) habs geliebt dir gerade zuzuhören
You might need to do an exam but truth is, you already have more love and respect than any title can give you.
Bravo! Playing all of Chopin's etudes can be such an exhilirating experience! Well done!
I enjoyed your playing, interpretations, honesty and comments. The Chopin Etudes! Brave girl! Good luck. XXX
I love Chopin's études more and more since I listen to you playing them. I will cross the fingers for your exam !
You did well Annique!! All the best for the concert🤘🤘🤘
I wish I could be there. 😭
Viel Erfolg! Ich drücke beide Daumen!
I've heard you play each of these during your Xmas presents to us, but I had no idea you had to play ALL of them for your final exam. That seems a bit harsh, but fortunately you're completely on top of it all.
BTW, If Alma Deutscher ever gets around to doing PC#2, I'll recommend that she not play it herself. You and Ms. Dovgen are at the top of the list.
Intriguing to me that what you do is both my biggest dream and worst nightmare :,) lots of respect!
Your playing is incredible 😭😭😭
Holy shit, you will totally crush it! I believe in you!
Good luck with your exam Annique, all the best!!!!
Mach Dein Ding.
Ich bin überzeugt, daß es gut wird.
I know everyone else has said this but I’m going to say it anyway. You are an incredible pianist and hugely inspirational to me, especially as I’m thinking of having a career in music when I’m older. You’re going to ace your exam, and I really wish I could come, but it’s much too far away. Good luck! (Not that you need it) :)
There are a lot of gems! Looking forward!
Loved this, hope it goes well
Goodluck with your exam! I'm sure you'll do well :)
The last one is my favourite of all times! It has a name "The Ocean" (not sure if it's official) and it makes a lot of sense with that title
You're gonna rock it!
If I would say something, it's that the first and last etudes of op 10, I think you're pausing way too long after the first note, like before starting the arpeggios with right hand in the op 10-1 and after the first chord, before descending scale in the Revolutionary Etude. I don't know how much it counts as "rubato"-like or if it gets off compass.
That’s actually what I liked about the beginnings of those etudes.
I had the same thought about 10-1, but I am not a professional pianist, so I would say I would not presume to second-guess her artistic interpretation.
Completely agree. Its not rubato anymore just wrong rhythm.
I like what John Russel said - "I would not presume to second-guess her artistic interpretation".
Professional musician and music teacher here (nowhere as good a performer as Annique!). It does not get "off compass" - not at all.
I know you mean well, but sometimes it's just better to listen and to do the active work a good listener should do: to let a new interpretation speak and not immediately compare it to your preconceived ideas.
Besides, studying at Stuttgart she is getting the best orientation in the world. They would not let her "get off compass". Just trust the professionals who dedicate their whole lives to this repertoire and welcome new-sounding interpretations!
Music is not dead, it's not about replicating previous performances, so the only expectation you should really have is to be surprised every now and then. Really, that's what the artists are doing with this old repertoire and what separates them from advanced students.
@@brunotheiss1 agreed. Pre-concepts, esp with "overplayed" pieces, really limit you as a listener, if you aren't open for diverging interpretations. Subjective preferences are ok, though.
For example, Rubinstein's Brahms Intermezzo 118-2 is a rubato beyond my comfort zone. But with Annique's etudes, her freedom really isn't exaggerated. Too much nit-picking and we get a psychotic artist. We don't want that for Annique, especially not close to her exam.
As always, looking and sounding fantastic.
To play both etude collections by heart is insane by itself. Must be a million notes xD.
And you play them like a godess! A lot of wrong notes, give me a break xD
You know, from your perspective, that was just 'okay'. But to me, it was magnificent! You play beautifully.
Nice, this is incredible!
Ich hab am 14. Geburtstag!! Ganz viel Glück bei deiner Prüfung, du schaffst das!
Good luckb with your exam.
THIS WAS SO COOLLL
Really loved this video.
I'm sure that everything will be just wonderful on the day of your performance. 😍😍😍
It's tomorrow - good luck!!
Brava! Lovely person and lovely channel, I wish you all the luck with your exam, just think of it as a concert and enjoy it!!! ❤
You’re playing ALL etudes as an exam? Girl u a fighter…
You play the piano overwhelmingly nice.
Viel Glück :)
You will do it great.
