Interesting fact: Zenith is a Millis believer, a religion that professes that you can only love one person for your whole life, that is why it is much more painful for her that Paul and Lilia betrayed her.
Yeah I don't think there's a way to defend Paul in any situation but given the circumstances he has now two women pregnant and Rudeus, he has a duty to take care of. Also taking in consideration the middle-age theme were this was most likely a thing, women here in this world can be independent but with a cost so, its not like Zenith has much of a choice, having two children now and start all over it might be too hard. I know. Sometimes it can be easy to walk away but when you have children it makes things more difficult. At least Paul even as a cheater scumbag that he is, at least he takes responsibility and is not an abuser in other ways. So like I always say. It could be worse. Even in today's world I've seen shaky relationships like this survive and stay afloat. Some men is not that they are only scumbags, some of us are weak and tend to fall to this kind of mistakes but that doesn't mean we are all the time scumbags, we make mistakes and we do our best to salvage it. It doesn't excuse the behavior and we do not deny there's worst men that do worse than this, but we do make mistakes and the few of us do our best to try to fix things at the end.
Im not saying its normal but back in the days the situation between Paul, Lilia and Zenith was comon. And even now depending on where you come from this situation can be less difficult to process/forgive/accept
It may seem very scumlike, and in today's perspective unacceptable, in that world having multiple wifes is not necessarily a sin, unless you are part of the Milis religion(wich Zenith is). That doesn't change the weight of what Paul did, but it is still something to consider.
My advice would be to read the novel as you watch the anime, because of the difference in format a lot of info is missing. There was a time it bothered me, but i learned to appreciate the anime as a different piece of content. Another thing i learned to appreciate is that you can still get a somewhat fresh experience by reading the novel after watching the anime. You get to have more information, see the side characters pov, etc. I find it really enhance the experience.
she left the door open and was naked bathing there, did she say no to him?, It takes two to tangle and so you can not just throw all the blame on the father. Both are to blame.
One thing about characters in this show, is that none are purely good or purely bad. Paul is scum of the earth when it comes to women, but when it comes his children in a vacuum he would be considered a good father. This shows theme is change, forgiveness and redemption. No one is beyond any of these things, and it is never too late to be a better person.
I watched this episode for the first time with my wife, and I remember her reactions being very much along the same lines as Teddymecheto's, as she constantly looked my way for reassurance. I gave her all the sympathy, but even then I admit I privately did not yet fully discount Paul as trash in my mind.
Paul is only trash when it comes to womanizing and the repercussions...in pretty much everything else he's a great guy that puts a lot of effort. And yes I know stuff what has not yet been covered in the anime yet. Plus the womanizing thing is also kind of a acceptable and encouraged behavior in the Greyrat clan...so that's another context to why Paul is the way he is.
@@encapsulatio Pretty much my thoughts as well. Paul would be a great guy to get drunk with or to ask advice with problems. But he is a terrible person to get married to.
It is mentioned in the novel that Zenith actually knew that Rudy was lying, but she felt that Rudy was fear about the family split, so chose to forgive Lilia
Bro I was so mad when this episode aired. What I thought was a ideal family was destroyed 15 seconds within this episode. How you gonna watch whole episodes without cursing this anime and Paul?
The reason Lilia works under Paul despite him assaulting her all those years ago, is because she needed a job (after she became injured in her last job) and she figured she would blackmail Paul regarding their past for the job. Ultimately, every person in this series is quite flawed.
The thing about mishoku tensei is that all of its characters are heavily flawed. Including Paul. He does shitty things, despite him truly trying he's not always the best father, and maybe he has some shitty character traits. But as flawed as he is deep down He's a good person at heart. And that's where the show lies, taking extremely flawed characters and making you understand them and you can decide for yourself whether to like them or hate them
Lilia is guilty for incitement / instigation / aiding and abetting. Paul is guilty for acting on it. Usually, they're both facing the same punishment. Fun fact: In that world, polygamy is not illegal.
Look, I know there are may things in this anime that we should not be seeing, but as you continue and understand the story,, its getting more interesting and fun.
their is no defending Paul, but what is if you expect Zenith to do, survive on zero income, taking care of a new born/toddler. It is not like today's society where a judge can order him to pay her. He would likely just leave the country and never be heard from again. They are not nobility and don't have banks loads of money put away. This is the same reason divorce was not really an option throughout history.
Agreed. Paul made mistake but it's not like they can just easily divorce and then pay Zenith tons of money like in our modern society, besides Zenith is a traditional family woman, there's no way she'll let her kids grow up without a father figure
This was the episode I started taking this show seriously. Firstly, the fact that the father figure is a very flawed character that still feels like a decent enough person (not a good husband in the least), and secondly, how the maid internally counts it being her fault where dude literally had to not go into her room. The latter, to me, was an exceptional specimen of storytelling where it shows an aspect of the society there where it's somehow the woman is guilty for being naked in her own room. Granted, Lilia was actually trying to seduce Paul. I'm just saying that this episode was exceptional at inferring how the society is in that world.
She did seduce him. In a small house, she left her door open on purpose and was naked cleaning herself when she knew he notice her, then did not scream or tell him to leave at once (as one would do if any of that was an accident) Paul is still scum, hard Testosterone, breed all the ladies; keep in mind that's also the time period. He's an Adventurer with such high skill he was given a whole village to care after.
You need to understand that world is not morden earth, most women would have a hard time surviving by herself, men has more power, and it is common for people to have multiple wife. Paul only have one is because of Zenith's religion is like Christianity in here and he agree to her he will be faithful.
Im pretty sure no one, not even MT fans would defend Paul's actions by cheating on Zenith. Everyone loves Zenith. That being said, we wouldn't have Aisha if he didn't. Even the author calls Paul scum for cheating on Zenith.
Paul has shortcoming, many of them but you would be surprised when you find out about other people's shortcoming in that family so don't worry, Paul isn't the 'worst' of them.
@@kristoffer2250 Even in his own family, his wife and maid, both have done some fuked up sh*t, especially the wife. He also has a 40yr old as his son. Yeah, in a way he is the most 'normal'.

Honestly don't pay attention to salty people in the comments. If you'll follow their advices and ignore everything uncomfortable it'll be boring pokerface reactions wich is pointless, so... please, continue to give us your honest thoughts!
It's interesting too. The whole thing with Lilia getting pregnant isn't the worst part. It's the fact that you're told by Rudy that Paul and Lilia went to a training hall together where he forced himself on her during her sleep, and then ran away. Yet, even knowing that, people still hate Rudy more than Paul. All because he died and was reborn without losing his prior life's knowledge/ memories. If he had died and reincarnated intentionally, having planned it, I might be more understanding, but he had no control over it. He died and instead of being dead, he got a second chance at life and peeps expect him to be a monk.
The polygamy are normal in that world but Zenith are pure Milis believer which only believe in monogamous marriage so it really kind of hard for her and this come from me who are from religion that enable to have a polygamous wedding but if it was me i still only want to have one wife at a time because it my way to respect my future wife unless it was by her consent because of great reason such as she cant give a birth or like that
This chapter was a realistic depiction of what happens when a woman marries the chad womanizer, its actually what would happen in most romantic stories where the girl "changes the man for the better" In the novel Zenith too knew Paul from his womanizing days, and slept with him out of attraction, but got pregnant and was very surprised when he actually married her Zenith and Paul are both runaways from aristocratic families, maybe thats why So this was more of a "what where you expecting? or course he will cheat," that surprised no one who ever new Paul Paul is the Jaime Lannister of isekai, thats the main reason people defends him, retroactive sympathy, if you will Also, Paul sent Rudeus away without explaining things, because he assumed Rudeus could convince him to let him stay, so it was easier for him to knock out Rudeus and send him away Swordsmanship is actually stronger than magic, in close quarter combats BTW, Lilia's method of seduction is the long type, she discretely flashes parts of her body to the man whenever she moves, to raise interest, her bathing scene was her culmination of efforts The novel mentions it because she taught that to Silphy...
The whole cheating thing is simple to understand. They both were in the wrong. She seduced him without really even trying and he gave in so easily. I don’t hate either of them tho, I understand why they did it. But it doesn’t make it right ofc. Horniness can be our worst enemy.
Paul *is* a shit husband, no one is disputing that. But he's also good *father* though. Especially to Aisha and Norn, and Rudeus too even if their relationship is a little rocky when they reunite in Millis during the 2nd Cour.
There will be episodes where I don't know if you'll be able to put up with some scenes a bit...risque, the truth cost me a lot, but well, just look the other way and that's it xD

There's a reason why Paul ends with an "L".
And there is a reason why his name begins with a "P"... 🍆😏
It doesn't excuse the behavior and we do not deny there's worst men that do worse than this, but we do make mistakes and the few of us do our best to try to fix things at the end.
honestly, the most unbelievable thing about the maid is that that wasn't already the arrangement.
Im not saying its normal but back in the days the situation between Paul, Lilia and Zenith was comon. And even now depending on where you come from this situation can be less difficult to process/forgive/accept
I’m dying from your facials expressions :D
gives a whole new meaning of "brother from another mother"
"Eat shit Paul, fuck off" is the best reaction to that scene I've seen.
I think you should do mushoku more often, seeing everyone wanna see your reaction on this, and hope you pull through eps 8 when everything start
lilia is pregnant
"is that anyones buisness?"
yeah... xD
This episode had me rolling my eyes and shaking my head every minute
Also you can respect Paul’s skill, and not respect him as a husband. They aren’t mutually exclusive,
she left the door open and was naked bathing there, did she say no to him?, It takes two to tangle and so you can not just throw all the blame on the father.
13:50 "You're finally awake..."
1:50 ohh no you were
There are several reasons Zenith doesn't just go home and they relate to why she's in that village with Paul in the first place
I really love MT and your reactions to them. Cant wait for the next video.
Paul is a real man.
We are still knowing some characters, things will go crazy in no time. Just wait.
It's a life sis. Full of surprises.
It is mentioned in the novel that Zenith actually knew that Rudy was lying, but she felt that Rudy was fear about the family split, so chose to forgive Lilia
"We'll grow up together, and I'll gradually raise her to be my ideal woman" .......
Well, I just hope you rate this show honestly after you finish it
The face of surprise when you found out Paul got the maid pregnant
This anime is just go with the flow and it turn out to be good, but yeah some realistic shit is happening in this anime
And that's where the show lies, taking extremely flawed characters and making you understand them and you can decide for yourself whether to like them or hate them
I'm not defending paul but he's a great character
Yeah, as intentional as ‘seducing Paul’ was it didn’t really seem intentional lol, or at least it didn’t look like there was a ton of effort
Lilia is guilty for incitement / instigation / aiding and abetting. Paul is guilty for acting on it. Usually, they're both facing the same punishment.
Fun fact: In that world, polygamy is not illegal.
5:35 lmao thats what I'm saying. Actually just straight up Paul's fault
How is everyone going to act like the maid is not guilty
Look, I know there are may things in this anime that we should not be seeing, but as you continue and understand the story,, its getting more interesting and fun.
her face 6:54 hahahahaha
Teddy: there's gotta be somebody that defend paul in the comment section
Me: I do like, and respect paul
Teddy: paul a shithead
Me: you're not wrong.
their is no defending Paul, but what is if you expect Zenith to do, survive on zero income, taking care of a new born/toddler.
Paul is a good man because -
Yeah I was disgusted with Paul when this episode came out lmao. Dudes that horny should just avoid getting married honestly
😂😂😂 but compared to most other shounen anime , Paul is actually a good father .
and relatable
It's so weird to think about that, compared to the others, Paul is by far the most "normal" of the greyrats
@@kristoffer2250 Even in his own family, his wife and maid, both have done some fuked up sh*t, especially the wife.
He also has a 40yr old as his son.
Yeah, in a way he is the most 'normal'.
im pretty sure the disgusting personality these people are spewing are meant to be seen as something repulsive for viewers. its quite concerning how some people defend them
As Paul said, womanizing runs in the family.
Honestly don't pay attention to salty people in the comments. If you'll follow their advices and ignore everything uncomfortable it'll be boring pokerface reactions wich is pointless, so... please, continue to give us your honest thoughts!
@@rohanshende4338 Well, it is kinda my thing, soo...
Mushoku Tensei has a surprising accurate depiction of Medieval period. Paul getting away with potential r*pe is quite accurate...
Paul didn't actually r*pe anyone. LN has more and accurate information.
Paul has no defense
For some reason i laughed out loud at the word "monk" and it's 3AM
14:26 Just wait a bit...you will see later in the show (I will not say more).
The polygamy are normal in that world but Zenith are pure Milis believer which only believe in monogamous marriage so it really kind of hard for her and this come from me who are from religion that enable to have a polygamous wedding but if it was me i still only want to have one wife at a time because it my way to respect my future wife unless it was by her consent because of great reason such as she cant give a birth or like that
This chapter was a realistic depiction of what happens when a woman marries the chad womanizer, its actually what would happen in most romantic stories where the girl "changes the man for the better"
In the novel Zenith too knew Paul from his womanizing days, and slept with him out of attraction, but got pregnant and was very surprised when he actually married her
Zenith and Paul are both runaways from aristocratic families, maybe thats why
So this was more of a "what where you expecting? or course he will cheat," that surprised no one who ever new Paul
Paul is the Jaime Lannister of isekai, thats the main reason people defends him, retroactive sympathy, if you will
Also, Paul sent Rudeus away without explaining things, because he assumed Rudeus could convince him to let him stay, so it was easier for him to knock out Rudeus and send him away
Swordsmanship is actually stronger than magic, in close quarter combats
BTW, Lilia's method of seduction is the long type, she discretely flashes parts of her body to the man whenever she moves, to raise interest, her bathing scene was her culmination of efforts
The novel mentions it because she taught that to Silphy...
The whole cheating thing is simple to understand. They both were in the wrong. She seduced him without really even trying and he gave in so easily. I don’t hate either of them tho, I understand why they did it. But it doesn’t make it right ofc. Horniness can be our worst enemy.
thank you
nahh girl who the f*** will defend paul. but if zenith kicked him out she won't be as happy alone. (unfortunently)
Paul *is* a shit husband, no one is disputing that. But he's also good *father* though. Especially to Aisha and Norn, and Rudeus too even if their relationship is a little rocky when they reunite in Millis during the 2nd Cour.
Paul my GOAT
Im so proud of you that your channel is growing! Sooner you'll reach 50k to 100k and so on! Be proud for who you are and keep it up!
Isn't it ironic that Pax is more of a pervert than Rudy is?
There will be episodes where I don't know if you'll be able to put up with some scenes a bit...risque, the truth cost me a lot, but well, just look the other way and that's it xD
PaulGOD forever
Goddammit Paul
Guys please dont defend Paul. We know what happened later. 😀
Let her watch.
*several Turning Points later*
well miss, if you want to watch mushoku tensei until the end you will need to have a lot of courage because throughout the story there will be many scenes that will make you want to drop the anime
day 4 of telling you about isekai animes
oh yeah If you are starting isekai
take my advice
Also react to
Konosuba
Overlord
The saga of Tanya the Evil
Re Zero
these 4 are isekai and together they have a joined show even very cartoonish (nothing like MCU ros omething its just for fun) called Isekai Quartet. that should tell you how famous they are.
React to all 4 of them as well they are really good anime.
Overlord is soon to get a new season4 as well so it might be perfect timing.
