This right here is why this show is the greatest Isekai ever made. for me Because the second life isn't an escape, it's not a fantasy, it's a second chance, and the first life actually matters. SOOO many isekai see isekai as an escapist fantasy without ever addressing the personal flaws that cause the need for said escapism. The average isekai goes "the world sucks, here's a better one", but Mushoku goes "no you suck, you screwed up your life, what would you do if you had a second chance?".
Isekai was meant to be what would you do with a 2nd chance at life. Mushoku hits it just right its the real power fantasy and his power is personal growth!!!
@@gitsnak777wtf man, impotency is an actual disease, I legit know people who became impotent because their loved one said that they are bad in bed. Millions of men face it every year and mostly it's related to psychology, and it goes along with his character too because he was a virgin and obsessed with sex, where sex = how much a girl loves you, he literally thought that Eris left him because he was bad in bed and Eris didn't think of him as a reliable partner...
14:42 One thing the Anime glosses over, and in my opinion one of Paul's greater mistakes with regards to Rudy is the fact that When Paul sends Rudy away to tutor Eris, he eliminated any chance of Rudy making a significant bonds with his sisters who were just barely born at the time. To Norn, it's just some random guy that she's never met, and like you said, her first interaction is him beating up her 'poor' dad...
They did a sublime job translating the emotional turmoil that is Paul’s life and how he desperately needs to be strong for Norn but just begins crumbling as things get worse. I haven’t actually seen any piece of fantasy media depict this sort of cataclysm so perfectly as this does, from that silent look of utter shock at the devastation in front of him or the long crawling nightmare of his past year.
Incredible moment, well writen characters, the 2 different perspectives were well produced, even the voice actors gave it all. Damn good episode. Even the Opening montage brought a tear to my eye.
Everyone seems to miss this but Geese (thief) was a member from Fangs of The Black Wolf. Paul (swordsman) and Zenith's (healer) old party along with Ghislaine (swordswoman), Talhand (Magician), and Elinalise (Warrior).
@@jidhindharanm.p9351 at that point in the story it's intentional to not mention and show who all were part of the party. But you can figure it out from the conversations in the show. Hence why many people miss that detail and why I am mentioning it.

"She's the only reason he's able to keep it together." Zenith's mother took part in bankrolling Paul's efforts and looked after Norn much of the time. I liked the manga version of the scene better, where geese took paul into the sewers to fight of a strong monster and showed the danger in which rudy was the whole time on the demon continent.
The interaction was done so well.. 😭

Maybe if it didn't have an impotence arc I'd agree. I love the world building, but I really don't like Rudy
@@gitsnak777 thats good if you liked him he would have no room to grow

Sadly the production quality of season 2 is not as great as the 1st, but I still agree that it is the greatest isekai so far.

I love that you guys went from like 1 episode a week to now 4 in a week as you get drawn into the story. 😁
This is my fav mushoku episode. For real, makes me cry every time, it's beautiful, hurts and makes you feel peace at the end. So well done.

Geese is actually the villain.
@@ajbico You must be the villain to claim such a thing!
