I've never been bullied, but when I came home from school and told my parents about the interactions I had, they kept asking me things like isn't that bullying? And don't let them bully you!
But the thing is, I never thought I was being bullied, and I still don't.

Sorry you went through this, I did also and did the same. Ignoring them makes the fire less high/strong, acting like it doesn't faze you they will get bored and eventually find someone else to harass. Schools really should be taking this topic more seriously also.

I haven't being bullied much but me and my twin brother were on the swings. Were both a lot Irish, so were gingers. The kid who was next to us started insulting us because of the color of our HAIR. My brother who clearly had being waiting for something like this to happen. He then said "Every freckle on a gingers face is a soul we have consumed." The kid then went silent. Best day ever. Love you brother.

I'm sorry you got bullied, so please take this as a friendly advice: you seriously need to brush up on your grammar and spelling. English is not my first language, but no amount of sleep deprivation could ever make me mix up "being" with "been", forget apostrophes or misspell dying.

PlugInKali it doesn’t matter, as long as people can understand it.
You also never know who you’ll be correcting. They might be using audio to text, which isn’t terribly accurate at the best of times, they might be dyslexic, they might not have great English yet.
So don’t correct people. Just don’t do it. If there’s something you don’t understand, ask a clarifying question, but don’t correct people. It’s rude. And that’s my advice to you.

  • @12layerdonut

Yeah, my favorite thing was when I was bullied was if I let someone with authority know they wouldn't believe me. They would sit us all down separately, so imagine at least half of my class getting called out one-by-one then I get called out again after they spoke to the other kids. The principal, or teacher, or whoever it was, would sit me down and ask me what happened. I'd tell them the truth like "The boys locked me in the container we put the basketballs in." Which they did, it was a plastic container about the size of a coffin but taller. They shoved me in, put the padlock back on and locked it. The adult would then proceed to tell me that I made it up in my head and they didn't do that and I would get detention for lying about something so serious. Since I always had more than one person bully me they would have a story they would tell the principal so it seemed like I was lying since the bully's stories all matched up. It was wonderful.

I remember at school. the teachers are just so bad at tackling bullying, it's crazy. So we made a group of bullied people, we proyectes each other and tried to help. I remember i had a friend, his stepfather hit him, chocked him, hit her mother. The whole situation was crazy (he and her mother eventually moved out, trying to run from him). He had lots of problems and was really agressive, i really struggled with the rest of the group because i wanted him to stay in the group. I actually don't remember much of my own bullying, i remember i became a Stark defender of bullied people. from a very Young age i knew Who i was, i had a striking personality. i was also too over confident and clueless to realize people didn't like me (i have ADHD). I would get really angry when they bullied me, which made me AN easy target and i was tiny small so they overpowered me. I think that's why i formed the group, i just hated feeling so defenseless.
One of the beatifull things of the group was that when teachers came we could all give a unified version of the story, the bullies were outnumbered.
Thank you for reminding me this.

I’m legally blind. Once, there was a kid who thought it was fun to put his hand in front of my face and yell “wall” while I was walking because he said I ran into things a lot... I was a bad kid I guess. I got so fed up with him that one day, he did it and I punched him as hard as I could. I mean, I’m a little girl and he was a pretty big guy, but still. He never bothered me again. Lol! Most bullying I could ignore. I think the hardest part about school for me was the social isolation. I found it very difficult to make friends and school was quite lonely. People didn’t want to talk to the weird blind kid. Still, things do get better. I promise! I’m almost done my undergrad in university now and couldn’t be happier! Like molly says, it’s all about being comfortable with who you are. ;)

When my son was in kindergarten I knew he was being bullied. He came home with bruises and scratches. I had had conversations with teachers, the principal and other parents. I thought things were under control. One day when I was volunteering in his class I decided to step outside during the kids morning break. It was then I found a group of older boys standing in a circle around my son who was in a headlock by another boy who was punching my son in the stomach. That was more painful than childbirth. I was not as poised as your mother. I went fully mama bear. I ran across the field and SCREAMED at those boys. Like you my 5 year old son seemed unfazed. He looked at me like mom this is typical Tuesday. He is ten now but that image still haunts me.

I volunteered in the school a lot too. This is what helped, when he found his people. The middle school band was a great place for him. And really emphasize your sons strengths to him and anyone who is in charge of him and get him help with his weaknesses. My son is 22 and is still saddened by the way he was treated, but as time passes, it is less and less. He is about to graduate from U Of M and will soon publish his first book. I remember being bullied as well by this one kid in 6th grade. One day he was kicking me in the back of my knee during recess. My grandpa, who dropped me off after lunch, had not left yet. I didn’t see him at first but suddenly he stormed onto the playground, grabbed the kid by the ear, and in his calm but stern military captain’s voice said ‘listen to me, you little shit. If you ever touch my granddaughter again, I will rip your ear off. Understood?’ The kid nodded, started to cry and ran away from us. Then, my grandpa looked at me, bent down and said ‘if he tries that again, kick him in the balls.’
    Love my grandpa ❤️

Said, you may want to tell the other kid to keep his hands off my daughter, because she has my permission to defend herself however that needs to happen.

i was bullied not long ago, it was last February 2019, i was born with cataracts they were discovered at the age of 4, i lived with terrible vision for years, i was always wearing some kid of new idea to strengthen my vision, from eye patches, to strong glasses. finally at the age of 13, i was in for my yearly eye exam, and i was having a really hard time seeing the letters on the chart, my doctor dilated my pupils and told my mom, "we have a problem, her eyes are worse, if i cant see in, she cant see out" so we decided i needed surgery, i took a while to find a doctor but finally i had my surgery, this was the worst weeks of my life! i was in constant pain, i couldn't see, i had constant migraines, but then i went back to school. my eyes were always blood red and you could see the stitches, i was bullied because people wouldn't look me in the eyes, they would point and laugh, they would ask rude questions like "are you high?" or "whats wrong with you?" nobody ever stood up for me. finally the redness went away and people still make fun of me for having to wear reading glasses, it effected me very badly a while ago which led to self harm and depression, luckily i'm much better and i'm confident and don't care anymore.

I'm deaf so I was severely bullied, harassed, and sexually harassed by students and teachers throughout my whole school life. I spoke but with a deaf accent and mispronounced words, so I was horribly bullied because I talked funny to the point where I barely said a word for years. I was always treated like I was stupid and couldn't do anything by myself without assistance, or couldn't do it at all. This broke my self-esteem and I had no confidence in my self. I was forced into special education and they literally hired a woman to follow me around all day everyday to monitor and "take care" of me. She spoke to me like I was a two year old (I was in middle school at this time), wrote everything down for me, made it very well known to EVERYBODY that I had a disability which brought on more bullying. I was denied bathroom breaks because they thought I was either lying about having to go to the bathroom, or I needed assistance and they didn't want to do it. The woman even followed me out to the carport after school and would stand there and point to every single car, "Is that your car? *points* Is that your car?" When I saw my mom, she wouldn't even let me go to her because she had to confirm that was my car and that was my mom.
The special education teachers stole my stuff and lied to my parents about multiple things so I was constantly in trouble. In high school, the bullying and harassment got worse to the point I started getting sexually harassed. I mentioned it to a few teachers and no one did anything.
College, a few organizations in the school trying to take advantage of me. Students who knew I was deaf and needed to sit in the front row would proceed to take all the seats up front anyways and force me to sit in the back where I missed out so much. Or just flat out ignored me. Had some stupid professors who wouldn't accommodate me or were just stupid and rude.
These are just basics and barely scratching the surface of the hell I went through growing up. I eventually found myself and gained my self-esteem and confidence somewhere along the road after high school, so any comments or bullying don't affect me anymore unless they're getting in my way, like my education for instance. I fight back now and I can be mean.

My teenage years were absolutely horrible. My mom had me addicted to her pills around 11 years old and selling them at 13. She let me get a tattoo at 12, was buying me cigarettes and alcohol already too. I didn’t really have friends. Was always in abusive relationships, taken advantage of. Molested by many, raped by someone twice my age. Dealt with many many predators, it’s disgusting how many men want to be with a teenager. Homeless, had a miscarriage.. I could go on and on. I met my husband at 17, we were homeless together for a little while too. We soon got an apartment then we had two kids by 19 years old. We are 28 now and just bought a first home in January! So my life has turned around but I’m still dealing with what happened in my childhood and coming to terms with it.
It’s so important for parents to be involved and be there for their kids! I had absolutely no guidance from either of mine. If I did I think my life would’ve been much different. My mother didn’t even tell me what a period was! I started it at 9 and hid it for years because I was mortified about telling anyone.

I have deep dark secrets that I try to, you know, just to put aside. Some people try to solve it by deciding to become drug addicts, others like you, like me, like so many we deal with it in a way where your life has more positive than negative. Where they break the pattern and stop the abuse for a healthy family. I send you a big hug and I wish you and anybody who had gone through evil The Best of Luck. Best wishes. 💜🐛

That's insane that those things happened to you Molly. The highschool that I went to had disabled kids and blind kids, but never ever did someone bully them the way you got bullied! There was a very well known blind girl in my school, and everyone treated her normally like a person. If bullying ever happened to her, I sure as hell never saw it otherwise I would've done something. It's all ironic, because I grew up in the "ghetto" part of my city, the poor part, where there was gangs and violence. But for some reason my there seemed to never be extreme bullying happening at my school.

Rich people, however, I guess they're bored and think it's fun to make people suffer.

I was severely bullied when I was a kid and then became a bully later on. In my teenage years, I saw it as a form of revenge, like I was finally able to be "on top" of others. Today, it's something that I am terribly ashamed of because I know how bad I made people feel, despite having been through the same myself. This is my experience, so I don't want to talk on behalf of anyone, but I think we don't give enough attention to children's mental health. Kids don't know how to properly deal with their problems and traumas, and I think it would have been a hundred times better for me if I could have talked about it to someone, which I've never done.

I can kinda understand bullying as children because they dont even know what they are doing and they just want to belong to a group. I got bullied a lot throughout my entire school career, because I am very emotional and I have a mental disorder where I have very unstable emotions and I would end up crying very frequently. So many people would make fun of me and there was even teachers who wrote me up and tried to get me suspended just because I was sitting in the hallway crying to myself. Even teachers can be just as rude as the students and it still hurts everyday as I deal with my various mental illness that resulted from this. I have a very hard time making friends because I feel that they will just get frustrated with me and leave. I have been alone all of my life and no one has ever tried to help me. This will sound dumb but I never had friends in school. I just accepted the fact that there was something wrong with me and that's why no one would want to be near me.
Then in grade 12 I was talking to a girl in my class about a group project (it was a compulsory one otherwise I would have opted to do it alone).
She just looked at me, as I was explaining and went, "You seem like such a good person, I don't know how I ever believe the stuff people say about you."
So turns out people were actively making sure that I had a miserable time in school.

I remember being bullied in 4th grade. My parents were aware of it and while it didn't phase me at the time, I do believe it played a part in my earlier 20's and the insecurities I had then. I can still remember being told my nose was fat, or how my eyes were too narrow or "too Asian". What's ironic is that the girls who made those comments ended up being in my girl scout troop a couple years later, and so that gave us a chance to become closer.
I think what baffles me the most is how some people never learn to be more aware of their words/actions until they're either much older, or perhaps that chance doesn't come at all. It honestly costs nothing to be a decent human being, and I'm glad that Molly was able to endure those hard moments of bullying.

I was bullied in school because I was supertall, I was 13 and already 6’... but I used all my strenght to have good grades, I played handball and it made me feel good. I wanted to be as good as possible in everything I did so they wouldn’t have anything else to bully me for. I was superemotional and people would try to make me cry. But I had two amazing friends who stood up for me when I didn’t have strenght. They would be by my side at all times and helped me get through everything.

I’ve been bullied my whole life; by people I though of as friends, teachers and just peers around me and it still haunts me to this day. Some people say bullying builds character but in my case it had permanently effected me in a way that can’t be reversed. I believe that if I wasn’t bullied I may not be such an introvert; I almost always doubt anything I do nowadays but I know I need to fight the anxiety but all this belittling through my life had taken its tole.
Even though I am not apart of the blind community, I find your videos (molly) so helpful and it’s helped me gain confidence almost all the time. Thank you so much! These 30min videos make the biggest difference and I’m sure there are many other people that feel the same

Somewhere along the line people turned against virtue and thought they were hurting their kids by teaching them to be good because they would then be "vulnerable" to the world. They wanted their kids to be tough and they started fighting back when teachers disciplined bad behavior and the parents threatened lawsuits. Teachers and schools buckled. They decided to go with the mantra that kids need to learn to handle situations by themselves and let the bullies run free. What is worse, they said the kid had to handle things on their own when even the TEACHER or an authority figure was the bully. Kids were afraid to let their parents know what was going on because the kid was retaliated against if they sought help in this imbalance of power. This is still going on today. Today is Easter Sunday. Christ lives. He taught us how to live and we need to get back to raising "good" kids and human beings and pushing back against bad moral behavior.

But like molly said, you can get through it, it will end and you can go on to do amazing, incredible things. I was the first person in my family to go to uni. I have so much more confidence now, when I was in high school I was made to feel worthless but no one is worthless. Everyone has the potential to be and do great things. Everyone. @@Alethia_ Heheheh. Awesome! I LOVE it!
I am usually the same way about others being picked on. But there was one incident among many, not anywhere near my first time being bullied but the first time where I finally lost my mind.
The guy was twice my size and was still such a coward that he had to throw a rock instead of actually getting in close. The rock hit me in my knee and I dropped to the ground and cried like a baby, doing just exactly what he wanted me to do, while he laughed at me and called plenty of attention to a weak little boy crying on the ground. And then I got ANGRY.
Adrenaline has a way of making pain disappear (at least temporarily). So he stopped laughing when he realized I was looking for the rock that hit me. The look on my face told him that I was not going to be nice when I found it. Once I saw it, we both ran for it. I got to it first because it was closer to me, after having hit me. He turned to run out of my throwing range and then he turned back around to watch me; he really was not the brightest bulb in the box. I had no intention of throwing it because I knew that with my crap vision, I am a LOUSY aim when throwing things, so that would just give it back to him. No, no, no, no. Instead I was going to keep it in hand and smack him with it repeatedly, once I caught him. I fully intended to beat his brains in with it. I would even switch hands when needed.
He was bigger than me, but he apparently had never had to run form anybody before. I was always scrawny and even being short, I was always a decent runner, able to keep up with most of the normal-sized kids. He was still faster just because he had longer legs but he had little stamina, being used to stalking and ambushing people instead of really chasing. He kept stopping to rest but then he would see me coming with that look on my face and that rock in my fist. I chased him around the school building, we circled it twice while I was out for blood. Then he blew past a teacher, crying that I was going to get him. She stopped me and forced me to calm down (I was very angry with her at the time for getting in my way, but it's good that she did or I might have become a murderer before I was out of grade school).
So it all got worked out. It turned out that he and a buddy of his had been shuffled around from school to school over many incidents of bullying. But this was the first time any of their victims had ever come after him with retaliation in mind. They both got expelled from the school I was at but THIS TIME, FINALLY, it went on both of their permanent records. I don't know whatever happened to them, and I don't care. As long as I didn't have to deal with either of them again, I was okay. But I still had to attend some therapy sessions. That was six weeks of a different kind of hell than the rest of my time in school. :P

I am so lucky that I grew up in a really small town where bullying was rare and severely frowned upon. However, I lived with my bully. They were an older sibling that would take any chance they could to make me feel horrible about myself. They would make comments on my body, skin, intelligence. The abuse went on to be physical in many ways and highly manipulative. Thankfully I got out of that situation as I got closer to my adult years. I haven't seen this person since. I do remember their names (we were about 10-13) but I also often remember what they said or the look on their face. And I always remember in a very vivid physical way how it felt. The feeling in my stomach, how I would avert my eyes and try to shrink and try to feel invisible and wait for them to stop, the shame and feeling that there was something wrong with me. I don't think that stuff ever goes away. I don't think about it so often anymore, but I'm almost 40 and if someone rolls their eyes at me or speaks impatiently I sometimes get the feeling again as it was so deeply trained into me it doesn't take much to bring it back. Or just randomly if I'm tired or having a bad day it might come back. Even though mostly my life is happy and it's not something I think of that often. But it's like it's in my bones now, that memory and feeling will always come back now and then

When I was in Kindergarten the girl I sat on the bus with told me to “shut up” when I said “Hello”, or “Hi”, “How are you”, or even, “Good morning” she would say “shut up” every morning.
I started riding another bus with my friends in the afternoon but I still sat with the girl (who was a few years older than me) in the mornings.
That was about 5 years ago. About a year or two ago during the summer I realized she went to my summer camp. She went up to me and apologized to me. I forgave her because I was a Kindergartener when she was “bullying” me.
I have not been bullied since then because I stayed surrounded by friends and ignored others with intentions of being mean in any way. We did make up but that was closest to bullying I’ve been.
It might not seem to mean or like bullying but to a Kindergartener it was horrible. I wanted to try to make friends because my best friend was going to a different school and it was my first year of school.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and did anything like this happen to you? It did not effect me to much because I began to not even try to talk to her anymore. If there is a message I want you to learn from reading this is that bullying is not okay to do and if someone is bullied a lot it can hurt them both mentally or physically.
A year after our school plan switched up and got transferred with many friends and classmates to a new school. It was an anti-bully school and I do not know anyone well that has been bullied at that school.
Again, thank you for reading and do not bully others! Bye!
