I even go as far as buying my construction lumber straight from the mills. Cash sales, truckload only. Been doing it since during covid. You'd be amazed at the price difference.
That truly does make me happy to hear! If those places had more guaranteed individual sales like that, mills wouldn’t be struggling as bad. When you buy it the way you do, your transferring your money to a hard working family, instead of to billionaires like all other facets
Congratulations Ian & Dad! 👏👏👏👏🎉🎉🎊🎊🍻🍺🍺🍺 Personally. I prefer sawmills. I ❤️ rough sawn. Either circular/ band saw. Most cases. Better quality. I HATE pressure treated lumber. I noticed the changes in that lumber! 🤬😡😠😤😱 The quality sucks! 🤬😡😠😤😱 Sorry. My ranting. The Vermont's sawmill industry started declining in the early 1980s. I really want a reliable sawmill & I can fix myself. No computer & college degree/ computer mechanics. I've been watching closely. Your fellow U--Tuber John Clark/ Frickn Jeep. He's got a " mini 1929 Detroit circular sawmill. Himself & his friend built a 22 foot carriage/ circular sawmill. Minus it's mechanical log turner. ( He's does turn w/ short & long peaveys.) Thanks Ian. Good luck on your sawmill production. 🤬😡😠😤😱🥰🙂😉👍❤️💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🍻🍺🍺🍺
Man I wish I had the energy to run around like you are even without the 15 to 20lbs chainsaw. I have always wanted a saw mill of my own ( portable type) came over from C&C equip channel
Why do you think the price of lumber got so high? The big box stores in the US and here in the UK sell lumber that is under sized, Is this just pure greed? I have an Alaska mill and try to get a hold of logs to mill before purchasing cut lumber from the local wood yard, I only buy small amounts and so it can be hard to source logs, I live right next to a forest and am quite friendly with the owner and so there are trees that he needs felling from time to time, they are not always what I need at the time though but I fell and buy them all the same.
The size reductions was due to shipping companies. There is a UA-cam video explaining about it, but obviously they make more profit selling you smaller dimension timber for the same price also. There is multiple reasons why timber prices increased, forest fires in Asia/Canada/America & Europe, Sanctions against Russia where massive volumes of timber in the UK came from, logging restrictions in Canada due to diseases in their forests.
Congratulations ty prayers
