Thomas Lang paso por el festival en el 2008 y 12 años más tarde este increíble baterista sigue sorprendiéndonos cada vez que lo vemos. Thomas es además de un espectacular baterista como ya todos sabéis, una persona encantadora y simpática.
Para esta ocasión Thomas trajo un espectacular set electrónico Roland compuesto por una TD-50KV además de un TMT2 y un SPDSX, Thomas lleva ya muchos años colaborando con Roland y es un auténtico especialista en “exprimir” sus equipos. Esperamos que disfrutéis de su actuación tanto como lo hicimos nosotros.

Thomas Lang was already in our festival in 2008, and 12 years later this amazing drummer continues surprising us every time we see him play. As most of you all know, Thomas is beyond a great drummer, a charming and friendly person. For this occasion Thomas brought an spectacular Roland electronic set consisting of a TD-50KV in addition to a TMT2 and a SPDSX. Thomas has been collaborating with Roland for many years and he is an a authentic specialist in bringing out the best o his gear.
We hope you enjoy his spectacular performance as much as we did.

He is an absolute beast. I don't think any drummer is the best in the world. Noone could fill Gavin Harrisons shoes with the music he plays, not even lang. No one will be able to fill larnell Lewis' shoes in the music that he plays etc. No one is perfect in every style and everyone has their own signature sound. Therefore no one is the best - different people are the very best for the music they play. I'd personally pick Marco over lang for most music too. He seems more musical to me. Lang probably has the edge in pure technicality.
@@fVNzO Of course, I respect your choices, Kris. I can say the same, who is/was, for example, the best basketball player in the world? Simple answer - Michael Jordan. No matter, what was his position on the floor. So I say, Mr. Lang - the best drummer :)

Esto no es baterista. Es una máquina con perfecciones muy avanzadas. Que nadie llega a ese nivel. Y a parte es una genial persona. Thomas hay que meterlo en hielo y dura 200 años más.

I love the electronic flavor, it really highlights some of the strokes and techniques from the original that I didn't get. It just shows that Progpop is awsome in any format, and my god man you didn't just one shot these songs, they were crafted and practiced with love and it really shines through here. Could watch this all day.

The kit looks so small. That's one big drummer right there, literally . It's amazing how he managed such precision in such small kit.
Kinda suits his handsey technique too, even though he still hits with such power. Makes an interesting juxtaposition...like it :-)
He regularly does this. He travels around with Roland a lot with this setup, had the pleasure of watching him at PMT in Birmingham a while ago; completely for free, too.

I'm glad he is not. He is such a pure talent and would have been wasted there. Dream Theater is pretty much dead.
I want his TD-50 settings for the Hi-Hat side drums. I added high and low timbale's to my left side inspired by Thomas and my playing has become much more musical.
Para mí este es el baterista con mayor independencia en sus extremidades. Es muy difícil decir, quién considero que es el mejor del mundo porque hay difetentes estilos y enfoques, pero sin duda si tengo que elegir a tres de los mejores bateristas del mundo este sería uno.

Having played both electronic and acoustic sets I am opinionated that the attenuation of acoustic drums is still absent from electronic ones. Oh, and there is no such thing as a cymbal clutch with electronic sets. HOWEVER… Thomas Lang’s cyborg-like timekeeping and percussive style are the stuff of dreams for the rest of us!

They need to make larger brains. Notice he has to use two. Electric drums allow sound variations, transportation ease, but limits greatly on setup customization.
You know, there is such a simple solution to this problem, but no one is embracing it: Running the entire rig through an interface then a sampler. There are a few drummers doing it, but none of the e-kit companies seem to want to adopt the practice and keep packaging their kits with exceptionally stunted modules.
Electronics have come a long ways, but there is still no substitute for acoustic drums.

Genau ..... Ich hätte es, bis jetzt, auch nicht von ihm erwartet.
Oder man nimmt es als Ergänzung zum Akustik set, aber es kann niemals ein echtes Schlagzeug ersetzen.

Excellent drummer. I really didn't dig the sound(s) of the kit. Would have been much better with an acoustic kit. Superior Drummer 3 sounds better.
Thomas Lang zeigt, dass die hochgepriesenen V-Drums eben leider doch nach Pappe klingen. Besser kann man die nicht spielen, aber es klingt eben besch...eiden.
Sounds terrible, und kann niemals ein echtes -akustik- set ersetzen.
Kann man genau so gut ein drum computer programmieren und laufen lassen.
